Great update, thanks so much. A YT search of "Italian renovation" or similar..ie vaulted ceilings may send you down a few rabbit holes. Also local knowledge, someone's uncle may know someone,... you can practise your language lessons. 😉 and that reminds me there is now translation earbuds with an app for cross translation conversations; called TIME KETTLE. I saw them promoted recently on another YT vlog. Ready for a garden harvest vlog, soon? Caio from M in sunny Queensland.

First of all Steve, we're loving the buzz cut!
If we didn't already have ceiling envy we definitely have it now! That is something about Brambletye that we remember from some of the first photos you showed us Lynn (probably on the jump seat somewhere above the Atlantic!) We hadn't fully appreciated how far you had to dig down to get the head height you need. Animals will lick and bite at stone to get the minerals they need and we like the thought of living where animals lived. Our house is a converted coach house and the horses lived in our kitchen and ground floor bedroom! Unfortunately we don't have any remaining evidence, but we did recently uncover the hidden trapdoor to the hay loft! It's so interesting when a building tells the story of how it has evolved and that is something that makes your home so special 😎😎❤❤

Firstly thanks for liking Steve’s haircut it keeps him cool. There is a story about the reason for the haircut.
Oh yes it was quite a dig down to establish the height we needed. I can imagine as you say the minerals from the stone was important to the animals and we like the thought of the connection with the animals.
In fact we will be the first people to live downstairs in Brambletye, funny creating history in away. It’s strange what you can find and I’m sure we will discover so much more about the building as we continue the reconstruction work. Thank you for watching Lynn Steve & Button

HI Brambletye you happened to mention about the tiles with plaster of Paris I have seen the joints being cleaned out by using water to soften it then a. Small palm router with a 16th end mill masonry bit set very shallow depth can be achieved with numerous passes.... This may not be suitable for your tiles but its worth the try. I hope this works for you its better than hand raking large overhead areas hand rake the corners and edges. regards Earl

Really enjoying these updates more than I thought I would to be honest, what with being an avgeek. Who'd have thought an aviation interest would have me watching Brambletye getting rebuilt. Slowly but surely starting to see a difference now, with the arches etc. The Brambletye channel itself is coming on in leaps and bounds. Doing an epic job on both the house and channel. 👌👌👍👍

Fabulous to hear from you Jim, to think we may have given the avgeek another interest🤣. It is so important to both of us to be true to ourselves , as we both are dedicated to the rebuild we also love our life in Abruzzo and want to share with others . Steve is working so hard and wants to explain in detail the work and progress in a professional manner that all can understand including myself. Thank you again Lynn Steve & Button✈️🇮🇹

I just discovered your YT vlogs. Awesome I must say. I am catching up. Thank you for sharing and for explaining in such detail how you will be moving forward with the restoration. Are you bound to any building/restoration restrictions?. 🌺

Hello Anita , so pleased you found us, great you will follow the progression on Brambletye and our lifestyle. Oh yes we are restricted we have an architect and all of our plans must be approved, we must also ensure we meet all the seismic regulations . These we must adhere to throughout the build. We also had to form a building company so we could do the work ourselves. Hope that gives you an insight and an understanding it took a long time to achieve this and now full steam ahead. Hope to hear from you again . Lynn Steve & Button

There is another YT channel, a young couple who are ( and have already) restored buildings of a similar age. They are in Tuscany. 'Kylie Flavell' they may be a good link re advice. They do use builders but have also done as much as possible themselves. Praying the prices of materials begin to drop for you. Expect miracles.💞🙏💜

That’s kind Moira to give us the information, it will be useful to contact them . Oh and yes the price of materials is a concern, to all who are building at the moment. Thank you so much Lynn Steve & Button
