  • We are going to learn how to use the manual shift mode in a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze.
    When looking at the shift pattern, you will notice P, R, N, D, and off to the side, a plus and a minus. To shift through the gears, press the button on the front of the shift lever and put the vehicle into drive. Once in drive, nudge the gear lever to the left to place the car in manual mode. A letter “M” will appear in place of “D” in the driver information center. The “M” will have a number next to it which is the gear the car is currently in. The Cruze has 6 gears which can all be accessed with the manual mode. From a stop, you can start off in first, second, or third. All you need to do is nudge the gear lever forward towards the plus icon to shift up or nudge it backward towards the minus to shift down.
    The transmission will protect the car from going into a gear that would cause damage. Therefore, you cannot place the car in first on the highway at 65 miles per hour. The driver information center will let you know when a shift is denied. When you are done shifting, nudge the gear lever to the right to place the car back into Drive. Having the ability to control what gear you are in makes for a dynamic driving experience. It is fun and can even get you better fuel economy.

    I just keep it in regular drive mode and it drives just fine. Whenever I use the driver shift control the engine roars quickly and I have to constantly upshift and downshift and I'm worried that my transmission might get damaged so I never use that feature. By the way I drive a 2016 Chevy Cruze Limited LT with a 1.4 liter 4 cylinder engine.

      Terence Johnson "the engine roars quickly and I have to constantly upshift and downshift" BRO, let me drive your car, I WOULD LOVE A ROARING ENGINE AND SHIFT MANUALLY!

      @@ShusakuFuseki No I don’t have a Chevy Cruze anymore. In August of 2020, the engine on it overheated and died, thanks to my no good of an ex girlfriend. From that point on to October of 2022, I went without a vehicle and now I have a 2011 Buick Enclave CXL SUV. But yeah, if you already don’t have a Chevy Cruze, you should get one.

    Wait so if you don't know what rpm to downshift at could you just put it back into automatic mode whenever you want? Or will that wreck the transmit ion?

    • @kt-xy5zo
      @kt-xy5zo 8 лет назад +2

      On my Mazda 3 I can just put it back into drive with no consequences, although I'm not sure what the case is with this car.

    • @FirebirdDude

      You can leave it in manual and you can even slow down to a stop from 6th gear and it will still automatically downshift for you. It won't let the car stall out. However, it won't automatically shift up for you if you're running at max RPM down the street.

    • @FirebirdDude

      Yes that is correct!

    My stepdad's malibu has this, except it is a button on the shifter that has a plus and minus. When I drive, if I have the option to drive in manual, I ONLY DRIVE IN MANUAL. Then that way I can shift only at very high rpm so that I can sound cool on the street. Ik it won't make the car very gas efficient, but it's FUN AF! I also drove a 2018 Dodge Charger Hemi, and it has paddle shifters. The entire time I drove in manual, and once on a straight road I went FULL THROTTLE, and didn't shift until like 5,500 rpm. It was BADASS!! Now that I know my stepdad's Malibu can be driven in manual, every time I drive it, IT'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE IN MANUAL.

    I've never heard of anyone wrecking a transmission by rolling from a stop in 6th gear. Would be a really slow start and can wreak havoc on the clutch (or torque converter) that way but not the transmission.

    • @MrKing-qd7gi
      @MrKing-qd7gi 6 лет назад +2

      DadsSkateShop that’s because nobody does it. The amount of wear and tear on it would be a lot and you would quickly shorten the life of your transmission. Although this Cruze isn’t true manual, it does save you the risk with the fun of driving a manual to an extent.

    • @dadsskateshop9733
      @dadsskateshop9733 6 лет назад

      Mr. King that's why i posted my comment. It would destroy the clutch before it does anything on the trans.

    • @kyledavis4202

      Wouldn’t you just stall? Not destroy the transmission but just stall the engine?

      J V L I V S Photography I agree! I'm only 16 but I LOVE manual transmission. I want to drive stick shift, but of course when I first tried it I only drove like 30 feet, and stalled like 12 times. But this feature shown in this video is very helpful for me. Bc if I am in any car, even if it is normally automatic, if it has the option to drive manual, I ONLY DRIVE IN MANUAL. This way I can sound cool on the street by only shifting at very high rpm unless I am cruising, and when I am on a fast straight road, and I feel like doing a quick full throttle acceleration, I can sound badass by shifting at rpm as high as like 5,500, and get the most power out of the car. I could care less about gas mileage, I just care about POWER, and A LOUD ENGINE!

    It’s not manual at all if your car denies your input at all. Plus all manual modes are useless anyways.
