In this instance, instead of drying "flat" by folding or laying over a line, try actually laying it flat, and then pinning it to the correct size (you could look up the term "blocking" to see more about this process) Also, shrinking is felting, and is caused by going hot to cold and agitating. Never use colder rinse water than the temperature you take the item out of when you're washing, and don't rub or tumble dry or agitate.
Thank you so much for the information. I didn’t know that. I will definitely keep your tips in mind next time I wash my wool sweaters. I will look up blocking as well. So I should use warm water to wash and warm to rinse and not warm wash and cold water rinse for example?
@@Below5Petite warm wash and cold rinse will cause shrinking and felting of wool. Warm to wash, same temp to rinse, handle gently, don't wring out or agitate, squeeze out excess water, roll in towel to absorb moisture, then lay out and block to size

Yeah go for it! Worse is you get your sweater back in shape. Also follow the previous comment or for more advice on drying and washing which may further help in getting your sweater back to the shape you want.
