- When you cast a spell that deals a type of damage from the following list, you can spend 1 sorcery point to change that damage type to one of the other listed types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, thunder.

Used this on a tempest cleric + storm sorc... I pulled off the most amazing moment of the campaign. and broke the DM... Was for a pirate campaign. It comes down to basically the siege of shipwreck cove. We were surrounded and being put to siege and my character takes his ship out to sea alone. The rest of the crew abandon it while I sail at the wheel towards the enemy armada telling the party I have a cunning plan who remain on deck with me. They think that I am going to try and talk our way out of this like jack. But instead I climb the crowsnest and hand the dm a piece of paper.
He reads it and turns pale, then describes as I hold my hands up and cast meteor swarm, but not just any meteor swarm, one blessed by my dragon god of the sea and storms. Balls of rock and lightning rend the sky slaming into the enemy ships causing canon powder to catch and explode, shrapnal cast everywhere and the water so charged with electricity it begins to set nearby ships alight and waves began slamming ships together or capsizing them.
I had cast transmuted spell meteor swarm to lightning, then popped channal divinity "wrath of the storm." each of the 4 metiors doing 120 lightning damage and 20d6 bludgeoning damage.
There was still plenty more ships to clear out but it devistated the enemy moral as their flagship was basically caught in a divine act.
This is amazing flavor-wise and mechanically for my Sorcadin of tiamat. I can literally cast any of the standard chromatic Dragon damage types as any other type I want. Plus thunder. Burning hands? More like lightning hands. Fireball? More like Orb of acid. Blizzard? More like firestorm.
This would be great combined with special abilities that revolve around one damage type, like how Tempest Domain clerics can use Channel Divinity to deal MAX DAMAGE on lightning or thunder attacks.
Tempest Domain + Transmuted Fireball = A real good time
Best choice list by immunity & resistance:Thunder>acid>lightning>Cold>fire>poison.
Poison is hands down easily the worst damage type in the RPG.
Scorching Ray turns into Freezing Ray. Boom.
A great use case is the Metamagic Adept feat, I play an alchemist/wizard who has this feat and it fits perfectly for those wizard spells like Snilloc's Snowstorm or Tasha's Caustic Brew. Its now (Your character name here)'s Flaming brew, or Acid Storm ect
i love, you can combine with elemental adept to maxium effect, and if you take two levels into cleric of thunder domain you can be unstopablle, you could cast cone of cold, make it deal thunder damage and then use maxium damage for it.
Omg that's amazing!!!!!🤣
Finally, able to make more than 4 Acid attacks
So basically allows you to turn Shatter into an AoE version of Chromatic Orb?
I know right
Shatter, Fireball, Wall of Fire, and any spell that uses elemental damage. Suck it, Wizards and Warlocks.
Wall of fire to lightening and surround your party...once again with the tempest clerics ability to push 10 feet with lightening damage
So I had the idea to use this with create bonfire, it does fire damage, so convert that into cold damage or something to have a big cool bonfire of coldflame or maybe electrical fire.
So scribe wizards free feature but has a cost? Careful spell all over again x.x
and it's less versatile it can't convert spells into force, slashing, bludgeoning, or piercing damage
The wizards always like “anything you can do I can do better” to the sorcerer
Isn't scribes limited by you having to already have a spell of that damage type at the level of slot you expended? I feel like that kind of narrows its usefulness.
@@assassinxiii13 not really cause if you were going with blaster you would have had to do that anyways example force burning hands At level 1
@@THEdeadlynightshade1646 I suppose that would work out then. Seems like this is more geared toward a sorcerer who didnt take a lot of damaging spells with their limited spells known letting them spread the 1-3 they do have pretty far. For that I dont really mind it since it is a low costing metamagic. Though I am looking at it from the lens of someone who plans to take the metamagic feat for their future sorcerers.
I run a sorlock and turn everything to fire damage for flames of phlegethos
I wish my Alchemmist could use this far more.... they're so restricteed in damage! I would love being able to use more other stuff...
does feel hard to justify over say distant or twin... just for that +int to damage, and helping damage resistences
Since it says spells, does this also mean cantrips.some metamagics do state cantrips specifically and this one doesn’t and I can’t find any information elsewhere
I don't understand the logic of rules as written here.
Why just acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, thunder?
what do those elements have in common that others don't? It's not that they do damage, earth, necrotic, and even plant based spells can do damage. It's not that they're all the same state of matter, acid and poison are liquids, lightning is plasma, fire is gaseous, cold can be gaseous, liquid, or solid, thunder isn't even matter, it's vibration of other things...
Am I missing a common thread that would exclude, earth, water, necrotic, nature, or even healing affects?
What would this do if anything to prismatic wall?
Wish it was you could convert any spell into one of those specific damage types.....as a tempest cleric I could convert guiding bolt to lighting, use a higher level spell slot and deal max damage if it hits. 😭
You think you could transmute Armor of Agathys?
Yes you can
Thunderwave + Poison or Lightning..??
Transmute Fireball to Cold
Snowball Fight!
Tempest cleric 6th level ability and acid damage to lightening or fire shield to lightening? 😁
Imagine this with fireball.
Firebal and turn it into lightning with 2 lvl dips into tempest cleric for maximum damage (48 dmg at lvl 3) . You can do this every short rest
@@frking100 My new character is gong to do just this. But I was wondering if I can use my channel divinity for a sorcery spell. Also, if I can use both a sorcery point and a channel divinity on the same spell
@@pratyusha.97 There is no reason why it shouldn't work. I'd ask your dm but rules as written it should completely work
I love it, but you kinda need to build around it.
So is transmuted spell homebrew or not?
No it’s official material. It’s in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything
Makes chromatic orb obselete
