Can you give information about New Bern shopping mall? Is it open? Is it working? What percentage of the shops are closed or open? My last question is, is there any flooding in the city? When was the last time there was a flood? Thank you.
Wondering if your talking about Bridgeton or not. Personally there is not much over there. There is a development up route 17 going toward Vanceboro but there is not much up there unless you go toward Bayboro in Pamlico County There are maybe one or two developments off route 55 going toward Bayboro. Then you have Fairfield Harbor which is a gated community away from New Bern. This a nice area, lots of homes for decent prices, but buyer beware, It can flood in there especially if a tropical storm or hurricane comes ashore pushing all the water from the sound up the Neuse River. If your talking about north of the river where Lake Tyler is at, it is not a bad area. It does not flood from what I have seen on the flood maps and they did fair during hurricane Florence from what I heard. Once Interstate 42 is complete in the next 5 years West New Bern I believe will boom. They are already building new developments off the route 43 bypass between route 70 (future interstate 42) and Neuse Blvd. Lake Tyler is further up 43 past Neuse Blvd and they are still working on completion of that development. You may find a few houses in there for sale every so often. From what I have heard there will be new stores, places to shop and a new academy school in the West New Bern development on the bypass in the coming years. Once that area gets built up, it'll be hard to find something inexpensive in that area.

What do you think of the area on the Neuse River, opposite of the Historic District and shops and slightly up river?
