    THANK YOU! Someone else mentioned that this was the most helpful quilting video they'd ever watched and I'm going to second that! I spent an hour or so today - I'm new to FMQ, but it was one of those days when the thread broke constantly so I decided to pack it up for the day and try again tomorrow. I decided on a quick search but didn't have time for something long-winded with a lot of ideas about thread, needles, etc. I've been sewing for 50+ years so there was obviously something I was missing - and this was it! After I watched your video, I went back to my machine and adjusted the presser foot so it was lower (I have the same Janome quilting foot) and then sat there and happily quilted for 45 minutes with zero breakage and quite honestly, the overall look of the quilting looks better! Thank you so much - you don't know what you don't know and when I think about it, no one ever talks about the proper height of the presser foot! I can't thank you enough!

    This is exactly what I needed to hesr, thank you so much! I tried the entire list of possibilities of why my thread kept breaking while FMQ. I just got my Janome 9450 a few months ago. There has been a lot to learn and try. I have done FMQ on previous domestic machines and today is
    my first attempt at it on my new machine. I was having anxiety that I spent all this money on a machine I bought specifactly to do my FMQuilting. You are the best, pkease don't stop making these type of videoes!!! ❤🎉 flowers for you

    This has to be the most helpful quilting video I've ever watched. Breaking threads while FMQing is the bane of my quilting journey. Can't wait to put the knowledge to use. Thanks!

    I think I love you Kim. You always have a youtube video for any problem I am having. I was really struggling with my thread breaking yesterday. I now know that there could be one of two problems or perhaps 2. Today that will be addressed. Thank you.

    Thanks! I had checked everything, thread, rethreading, changed needle, cleaned machine, but still my thread would shred every now and again. Thank you for the tip. I knew this at one point, I recall adjusting the height. I will try to keep this in my troubleshooting steps!

    I’m using my M7 and beginning to hate it for all the thread break and shredding during FMQ. I’ve been FMQ quilting for 10 yrs and rarely had this happen. I’ve used Aurafil in top and bobbin, tried every combo of feet, plates and blue & yellow dot bobbin cases. Still shreds. I will try lowering feet more then I have been and pray this works. I’ve had the M7 only a few months and on my 3rd quilt…but the joy of quilting is fast waning 😞 I have appreciated all your videos over the years. Thank you so much for the tips and information you graciously share.

    It *is* like you have telepathy, but my thread breaking problem only happens in one direction, up to the right, every time. I have a Brother PQ1500. I've tried a new needle (titanium 90/14 topstitch), checked the bobbin case for burrs, changed the height of the presser foot, still no luck. Do you have any more ideas please? Thank you

      @Chatterboxquilts  3 года назад +1

      You could try slowing down when free motion quilting as this puts quite a strain on the thread. I would also suggest trying another brand of thread and see if you still have the same problem.
