Yes, he has Alzheimers. She tries to open doors to his memories by using photos hoping to prompt his mind. They go in search of memories together but neither of them finds what it is they're hoping for. He is finally able to associate the ring with her and their past life together. If only for a moment in time....he remember's who she is.
Beautifully done animation to reach all cultures since it relies on photos not words. Alzheimer's has such an array of afflictions which changes a regular person to someone new and different but who can at times return briefly to life where they connect and sometimes never realize that they're disconnected or that they're even ill with Alzheimer's.
Thank you for your kind comment. I will do my best to continue. I just lost a parent who died of Alzheimer's, so I thought your analysis was right on the mark. xo
I love this...I cry everytime I watch this..This is true love. This is how love should be. So patient and Caring and just never ending...I just love this.. The characters are so real like..All the emotions ..Her smile when she enters and sees him..Her excitement and expectations that he'll remember her when she hands him the photographs...Her disappointment and sadness when she doesn't get what she wanted...her patience and dedication to find what she lost....His eagerness to help her find what she wanted...Her tears in the letter section...His eagerness when waiting for her to come on the last day...Her nervousness when she is handling him the photo of the ring probably her last Chance to find what she needed....Her smile when she found what she lost.. Their hug just eternal... Their love just so pure and true...She found what she lost and he found his missing piece
I thought the lady had lost her memory, but it was the husband and she was trying to help him remember her. I love this. My mom works in nursing homes and the stories she tells.
I first watched this years ago and just thought: this is a well animated short film. But rewatching it today makes me realized the much deeper message behind the footage.
i actually cried. A really beautiful story of love and memory loss. been there with my family members, its hard to be with someone who doesn't remember you. hit close to home.
James I am 75 yeas old have lived a lot of life and so many experiences. When my father in law died suddenly a few weeks after Christmas many years ago my adult daughter at the hospital was distraught that she had failed to visit him that Christmas. I told her it is not the last time you are with someone that is most important but all the time spent together that was of the greatest value to him, and my child, to you. He love you and watched you grow and you loved him. That is the true sum of the story of you and him, not just one fleeting visit amount the total time together. The Father God says, (I am paraphrasing here) Whatever is true, respectful, just, pure, or lovely, think about these things. And the God of peace will be with you. From Philippians 4.8
It fascinates me how a story can often be told without using words. Thank you for showing this story about (at least to me!) perseverance and love. There are times when perseverance is what is required in love I think!
EXQUISITE!! A true work of art, work of true art and work of Truest Heart. It's humbling to see how many viewers have been so deeply touched and unstintingly generous with their empathy. Thank you, Allen.
I see something new each time I watch this. It is brilliant. It is sad. It is magical. A beautiful, a magnificent little film. My congratulations to all who created this gem.
It is interesting how you guys make a simple thing, with proper elements, sounds effects and art direction l turn into a huge and emotional animation. Ultimately she just wants an excuse to encounter happiness
I didn't get the message. Thank you. I recently lost my beloved mother from dementia and 20 years ago my grandmother. It is a devastating terrible disease. I still talk to mom every day even tho it's been 3 years!
Beautiful production of animation about two elder people.....and words cannot describe how this as made me feel, just that I hope more of these are created. Kudos.
I lost my mom through Azheimers 3 years ago when she was 80..She forgot who I was in her life...devastating,ruining the be best in us...Congratulations to the production team of this very timely, emphatic animated short 🎥film..
Omg!! Beautiful!! After yrs of working with the elderly i think that dementia and/or alzheimers is the worst disease ever.. u can have cancer, but still be ur self.. This actually robs u of the things that make u who u r.. its so sad..
I was shocked to tears at the ending. Marvellous. What a brilliant metaphor, and so compassionate. Perfect storytelling. Glad I didn’t read the comments first, explaining away the joyful discovery. The surprise is the heart of the story, it’s beauty, it’s empathy.
in a metaforic way - he was so obsesed with a things to forget his lovve and lofe, it is like we chasing success and materialistic and we forget about ppl we love, we rush too much and forget to live
I am so thick. I didn't realize this was about Alzheimer's until I read the comments. I thought the film was brilliant anyway but thanks to the comments I now can see it on the profound level it was made for. My mother died of Alzheimer's with a 20 year deterioration that ended in an almost catatonic state. She didn't know who I was for the last ten years but enjoyed my visits. Omeleto is not only a fantastic source of great videos. But the people who watch it generally are caring and decent people. And often more insightful than me.
💐✋ I like the dedication of the employee, he does his best to satisfy the old woman, at the end he wins her heart. I guess it is not too late to find your soulmate no matter how old you are.
I was thinking so too, until I started reading the comments. It appears he is her husband with memory loss and she is bringing pictures to reconnect their lives... the ring does it. Perhaps it is the other way around too though. I have t quite figured it out. My mom forgot who I was for a short time as she was in her last two years. It was very painful and weird. I was so relieved when she remembered... especially as I was taking care of her full time. Maybe some people have to forget in order to be able to let go and cross over?
I had guessed the ending in the first minute, but the presentation and storytelling of it and how we got to the end was so lovely and sweet. This isn't me saying, 'I guessed that end, look at how awesome I am.' I think 'surprise endings' have become a gimmick in film making anyway. I'm just saying that how they revealed what I already knew was where the true magic of this story lay. Very well done 👏
I didn`t actually cried as others because I am not a spring chicken either, haha. Animated movies with old people like this are as cute as the ones with babies, it actually make me smile. That`s life ... on this planet.

now i understand..

Six weeks tonight I lost my Mom to a long battle with this devil disease. My heart goes out to anyone who knows it.
My condolences for the loss of your beloved Mom. In 2012, my own Mom passed away. Take care and be safe.

Amazing how this sad condition can be expressed in such a beautiful and poetic way!
It fascinates me how a story can often be told without using words. Thank you for showing this story about (at least to me!) perseverance and love. There are times when perseverance is what is required in love I think!
They should put this up in the neurodegeneration classes on the Neuroscience courses to motivate students.
My mom has dementia, so this video really touched me.
It's difficult for me to cry, but I couldn't hold back the tears.
EXQUISITE!! A true work of art, work of true art and work of Truest Heart. It's humbling to see how many viewers have been so deeply touched and unstintingly generous with their empathy. Thank you, Allen.
That was RUDE. I feel attacked, I didn't sign up for this emotional rollercoaster. But damn I wanna watch it again.
This short movie makes me cry, in a good way. It's so beautiful. Thank you for producing this short movie.
Tears in my eyes. Had almost the same story with my grandpa and grandma.
Congratulations for this brilliant film.
Ohhhh, I get it. This is about a lot more than just lost property.
Great film.👍

Thank you. So gentle and true. Art at its best. I will be holding this in my head and heart for a long, long time.
So nice.
Reminds me of "The notebook".
I also love the tribute to the Singin' in the rain umbrella coreography :)
Such a sweet and gentle story of love lost and found.
I find nothing better to say than: ‘Wow’.
The moment, my Grandmother looked at my Cousin and me and my aunt asked " who are these two young Woman?" A World dies in you
Omg!! Beautiful!! After yrs of working with the elderly i think that dementia and/or alzheimers is the worst disease ever.. u can have cancer, but still be ur self.. This actually robs u of the things that make u who u r.. its so sad..

What a lovely heartwarming story. Thank you.
Really, i search for suitable words for explaining what a fantastic feel i experienced when i watch this. I didn't get any single word, unfortunately.
in a metaforic way - he was so obsesed with a things to forget his lovve and lofe, it is like we chasing success and materialistic and we forget about ppl we love, we rush too much and forget to live
So beautiful and sensitive! Life and it’s meaningful moments ❤️❤️
