How not to fell a tree

Safety notice, this is not how to fell a tree! Tree could fall in any direction or tools slip and shot out in all directions.
Most video was lost so very short.
Trees were 76 years old, diseased, and shedding very large branches and had to come down for safety. Checked with a local forester and they said to take it down before they caused more damage or took out a roof.
Tree removers hit metal in this tree and stopped. They told me if I wanted to do it myself, they would come back and remove the trunk and grind the stump out. Trunk was left mostly cut and was a hazard as it going to fall down in the future.
Jacked trunk off the trunk using a a 20 ton Terin bottle jack and a DeWalt 20Vmax chainsaw with a 14” blade. Used plenty of wood blocks to keep the trunk going in the direction of the notch and not to come back on me or the tools.
Trunk was left in one piece as the weight helped it to go over and didn’t know if any more metal was in it. Trunk had already claimed a 200 dollar chain so didn’t want to make it two.
All this started with a branch coming down in a freak wind storm. That exposed just how bad the trees were and if we weren’t sheltered, probably would have lost much more than one branch and a gate. See • Lucky chickens .
