    Thank you for sharing this unknown gem to me. As many people would know Lalo from Symphonie Espagnole, I have gained my knowledge that he has many more other amazing pieces. This is one of them. Outstanding.

    Laló and Saint Saëns are my favorite French composers; both deserve an even more important place in the select group of the favorites in concerts, recitals and recordings. Both of them were top tier master orchestrators, next to Grieg, Beethoven, Smetana or Rimsky-Korsakoz;

    This is an excellent concerto dating from the last years of the life of Lalo, who is known for his string soncertos (the famous symphonie espagnole, the cello concerto). Even in France, it is not played anymore. That is a pity.

    if you like this, you have to hear Lalo's Symphony in G Minor (not the Espangole but the other). After hearing it, I gained a new respect for Lalo's use of orchestration. Although somewhat restrained, it is solid and well thought out. Good to see, along with Gouvy, that his fan base is growing.

    The concerto is in F minor. The orchestra is the Frankfurt Brandenburg State Orchestra .

    A work that is neither the Cello Concerto nor the Symphonie Espagnole: incroyable!

    Gioielli and his other incarnations bring the joy of music to so many people around the globe - strangers all to each other. It is one way of making the world a community and not just a planet. Thank you Collection for honoring our dear friend. Rowna

    Le seul concerto de piano de Lalo , ce n’est pas son chef d’œuvre mais il mérite mieux que ce que la postérité lui a laissé. Plus apprécié à l’étranger que dans son pays !

    Ce n'est pas un chef d'oeuvre mais ça a fait la célébrité de Maurice Jarre...

    how different version of the same concerto with the same pianist but not same orchestra. I prefer 1000 times this interpretation than the one with Stuttgart Phil.

    Ce n'est pas un chef-d'oeuvre quand même...
    C'est Maurice Jarre qui a dû être content de trouver une grande partie de son thème principal pour Laurence d'Arabie !

      si c'est un chef-d'œuvre , car Edouard Lalo est né légèrement avant Maurice Jarre(1823-1892) , votre culture est risible c'est Maurice Jarre(1924-2009 qui s'en est inspiré , c'est illogique ce que vous dites , renseignez vous avant de parler mdr .

    Good, enjoyable music, thank you.
    But to say stuff like "marvelous!!!", "one of the best and more powerful concertos for piano (dispite being so unknowed)" (never mind the mistakes ...) and comparable accolades are quite overdriven, I think, and if someone is "speechless", I'm afraid that's a medical condition. This is simply good to listen to, but to say "it's one of the best" means the person hasn't heard much else. Alas!

      +Peter Simon This IS A "GREAT" Concerto. That you and many else fail to see that is why it lies in such bleak obscurity... Pray tell... What do you consider a "GREAT" Concerto... (and If you mention the Brahms 2nd I know there will be no need to take this conversation ANY Further!)

      +Terrill Lawrence Yes, Terrill, this is a great concerto, almost like all the Saint-Saens concertos, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Stephan Elmas, Widor, Carl Reinecke, Adolf von Henselt, Rhainberger, Joachim Raff, Sgambati, Scharwenka, you name it. I haven't said this wasn't great. I'm fighting against superlatives and comparatives in matters of personal aesthetics, that's all, but go compare if you like. If you can't accept Brahms, that's your personal problem.
