Do any of you guys know if have premium cards for banks gives your a better chance of getting a better loan or mortgage with less interest? I thought because of the status of both my cards (I have amex plat for business and chase sapphire reserve for personal at 21) that in the long run it'd help me somehow with my overall credit history from both parties and that It'd be good overall in the future for financing for buying a house , etc... any feedbacks?
I freaking loved this! I’m only 21 and my friends and siblings think it’s so weird that I’m into credit and finances at my age! When I found your channel I had a 650 credit score and the capital one secured card with a credit line of $200 only. I found your channel over a year ago and in that year I rose my credit score to 745 got approved for a Navy Federal Cash back card, a discover it card, and just got my first American Express card invitation! I also now have a $20k credit line! I’d recommend your channel to anyone who’s starting out!
I love these videos because I love learning the history of these companies as we know them today. It is kind of sad though that not many people know the history of these valuable companies that people take for granted these days (HARD WORK REALLY PAYS OFF) (THE SMALLEST COMPANIES CAN END UP BEING THE MOST VALUABLE) over all great videos KEEP IT UP
I know it’s been a while since you made this video, but I’d love to see you do a series like this for all of the popular companies. This was an awesome one! Thanks!

Thoroughly enjoyed the historical perspective of this American company. Congrats to Mrs. Credit Shifu on her citizenship!! My Mother finally became a citizen as well and now we’re waiting on my wife’s citizenship. I just upgraded my PRG card yesterday so watching this video only reaffirms my decision. Thank you for all you do.
Awesome documentary! Very well made and informative! Love learning credit card tips from you and now the history of credit cards! Making a somewhat dry subject more and more interesting! Thank you and keep them coming please!
Def needs a part two or a whole hour long documentary. Maybe something about who uses amex, interesting stories, and more details. Excellent content! More more more!
Very well made historical and current video! Keep up the great work! Been a green card member since the 1980s and then gold member since the 2000's. Currently just got upgraded to the platinum and love the benefits - already paid for the $550 annual fee by taking a trip to Asia, getting 5x points worth $800, $200 Uber credit, $200 airline credit, and $100 Global Entry/TSA card. Within a week we got to visit 4 airport lounges (XMN, ICN, GMP, NRT) and love them now - wondered how we did without airport lounges!
I definitely want to get the American Express Platinum Card. Every time I login my credit karma account it tells me that I have a high chance of getting approved. Also that annual fee is way too hefty for me since I’m not traveling as much now as I was before. Awesome video man! Thanks for sharing!
Don't take what Credit Karma says seriously at all. They're advertising those cards to make money. According to Credit Karma, I have virtually no chance at getting any cards from American Express, even though I was approved for three of them (Platinum, HHonors, BCE) over the course of the time it said I have a low chance. Then once it told me I had a very high chance at the Citi Double Cash, and I got rejected. Also remember, the Platinum has the same credit requirements as the Green, it just has more benefits and a higher AF. It's really not a hard card to get as long as: 1) You have good-excellent credit 2) Don't miss payments 3) Haven't burned Amex in the past Amex is pretty lenient with thin credit files as well, so as long as you have a few months of 100% on-time payments, you should be approved. Check their pre-approval tool on their site, it's practically 100% accurate. The Platinum was my second card ever. I was an AU on my parents' 20 year old card and I had my own 4 month old BofA Cash Rewards card, 18 yo with a 15k income. It's my favorite card by far. The perks pay for itself, plus it's metal! Good luck!
I love this! I already knew some of the history, however, you close a lot of gaps for me with this. I didn't know that Diner's Club was first--I thought AMX was... You should do one on Diner's Club, and please keep this up--great idea dude. In addition, I would love to see something on just how debt cards work (network, fees, etc...), along with when, how and who started the product. Thanks dude, can't wait to see another video.
Awesome job...man... I remember these old school commercials.... AMEX has always been for me a part of Americana.. Platinum here I come..!!! .. btw... it will be nice to know the history of Chase Cards and Discover Cards too. An Amex Centurion card vid will be nice too... however, no pressure man😉👍
I would like to see a documentary on Discover Card. It was my first credit card at 18 years old. Back then Discover Card used to work closely with Sears Stores.
Great history video! That was different! I liked it a lot! You should do more! You should do one for the very first credit card ever recorded and another for the very first card that’s still alive today.
Hey Ben, have you thought of doing a tour of American Express ? Maybe an exclusive upcoming expectations cards etc ? That would be epic and a first !!!!! Look into it
Damn CS, genius👍 this was brilliant. Keep these coming ... note: my wife gets a kick out of me imitating you when you say “ Credit sheefoo ” and then she laughs cause there’s a Mrs. Shifu and Baby Credit Shifu. It’s cool man keep it coming 👍
Awesome video. It is awesome to learn about the history of a company like this. Very informative like your other videos. Thank you for making this for us.

I really like the recognition I get when I use my American Express Card at the automated ordering at Mc Donald’s.

lol same, every time I use the platinum card at a Micky D’s, the cashier always gives me that “oh wow” look
Hahaha it happened to me not too long ago
"The Rise and Fall of Diner's Club" would be good for continuity :)
Yeah I will think about that one. Also JP Morgan and the story of Hilton and SPG I am thinking for the future

Does dinners club still exist?
@@FriendlyCleaningKC Diners club international was bought by Discover and integrated into their network
@@full.grain.Diners was bought by Citi Bank in Argentina
That's freakin awesome shifu. Love this video. Kind of made me want to get a platinum card now LOL

21 year old with a 20K credit line nothing can go wrong..
K Mathew a lot can go wrong if you’re smart about purchases. I personally don’t ever go above my 10% and I pay my cards off in full every month.
I’m 13 now. My friends think I’m wired since I’m into finance. I am just trying to prepare for my future.

Wonderful mini-documentary!
The nerd in me loved this.. educational.. should be shared in finance classes..

Loved this new twist on your videos Ben 🙂 nice job 👍

Fantastic video Credit Shifu! Great job! Thanks, and keep up the good work!
I would like to see a documentary on Discover Card. It was my first credit card at 18 years old. Back then Discover Card used to work closely with Sears Stores.

A lot of people are not financially stable this period and it's not easy, I always advise people, don't just waste your stimulus checks or salary, invest it in something that will yield more, even if it is a part of it. We can't keep relying on a paycheck that is already half-spent before we even receive it, there are investment opportunities that have helped a lot of people especially in the financial market.
