Bought a new property, with these crazy prices out there, RUclips have helped me to improve my building skills and save lots of cash. Upgrading floor contractor asked me up to $4,000 for 3 small rooms. Doing it myself with 0% done it with less than $850 including supplies, thank you for sharing your skills and experience 😃
I should say 0% of experience I had upgrading floors, most of my experience has been painting and some electrical. Save thousands of dollars rebuilding the whole property by myself.
Bravo, I love it 👏🏽👏🏽......and if 6:50 - 7:05 ain't: " teamwork makes the dream work," then I don't know what that is. You guys are 💯👍🏽💯👍🏽. Keep it up🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
That looks identical to the laminate flooring I used its absolutely fantastic and holds up. You all did a great job this coming from a novice at installation myself.
You did a good job... however you didn't use the vapor barrier underlay. It would keep the flooring dry plus be extra barrier between you and the asbestos. I like the way you worked together. Good tips. I've watched other videos and so far they all click in the groove lengthwise first
Do we need to add foam padding first before laying out the floor tiles. I have waterproof wooden floor tiles, these have a PVC backing behind that prevents termites and water ingress. Do I still need to add the foam padding ?
Good Job Kayla and Juan you all made that look super easy but I know that was hard work and very time consuming! I always look forward to the end of the videos for the bloopers 🤣
It’s just a simple thing but using a carpet blade is much easier than a straight blade. Also using a carpet blade in a multi tool makes cutting the carpet a breeze. Also when taking out the carpet tacks if you pry at the nail locations keeping the strip from braking into bits once you pry up one it’s easy to move to the next nail
Great video im gonna try to do it by myself i have one question. How did you know which side of the wall to apply the spacer, and did you need 2 space both sides of the hallway?
Hello Manny we place the spacer on the opposite wall of the room from our hallway. Worked our way from one side to the other and continue down the hallway with each row till we got to the end of our hallway. We only put the spacer on one side of the hallway since you are working on one row at a time, from either left to right or right to left. I hope this helps 😊
ive been going back and forth on asking my husband to attempt laying down laminate ourselves for our new home but we're both incredibly intimidated since neither of us grew up being very handy or working with tools.. your video makes it feel a little less intimidating. still contemplating what to do, but.. could you also share what tool you specifically used for cutting your panels?
@@kaylabetancourt338 Me and my fiance are about to start on our floor and I am so nervous. Neither of us have done anything like this before. We just finished painting and installing crown molding and GURRRRRLLLLLLL let me tell you....STRESSED!!!!😂😂😂😭😭😭🤦🏾♀️
@LaToya Plans Life that is awesome I bet your house looks beautiful 🤗. I know exactly how you feel but all your hard work will pay off 🙌🏼. I am not gonna lie my husband and I were a bit nervous too when we started this project but once we started that all went away and we found our groove of things 😅😝. Just take your time and fun 🤗. If you need a mind refresher or have any questions please ask me. You and your fiancé got this girl!! 😊🙌🏼
Hi Maria. I know you didn’t see it in the video 😅 but we do have underlying under our flooring. The laminate floor we choose, QuickStep, has the underlying built under each planks. It’s the reason why my husband and I choose this product in the first place to save more money with out buy extra material. I am not sponsored by QuickStep at all but I high recommend this laminate floor. It’s been over a year now since we installed our flooring and looks brand new still. This laminate flooring is kid proof and animal proof 🤗
Yes if your laminate flooring doesn’t have padding on the bottom then you will need to purchase underlayment separately as a cushion between your pre-existing flooring and the laminate floor you choose. If you purchase, QuickStep Studios, the flooring we used in this video you don’t need to purchase the underlayment because each plank has it attached to it. You can save a lot of money by using this brand because you are buy one less item to update your flooring. 😊🙌🏼 That is one of the biggest reason my husband and I chose this brand of laminate flooring. They have tons of color to choose from. I highly recommend QuickStep Studios Laminate Flooring, they are super durable, nice and you save an extra buck or two which is always a plus 😊. I am not sponsored by them by any means I am just a regular customer sharing my honest experience with this product. I hope this helps 😊
No I didn’t have to use any underlayment with the Laminate flooring I choose. We used QuickStep Laminate flooring because the flooring comes with the underlayment already 🤗. One less thing to purchase for the entire project and it really help us cut cost even more. I am not sponsored by them by any means but I highly recommend this laminate floor. It super durable and they have tones of colors to choose from.
Got to be careful, otherwise you’ll demonstrate how to start a fire, by throwing sparks into the skirting lint, I’d never even hammer nails in an old house, as the sparks can go between the gaps in the floor boards. Btw, Asbestos masks should be sealed around the face, not a covid mask, with big gaps on the cheeks and nose. In the UK, you would need to hire a professional company to remove the asbestos, especially where children lived in the house. Great vid, thinking about doing it myself.
Im 38, female but got 2 hernias. My mum is disabled and unfortunately we cant afford the quotes weve had from companies we have had round to quote. They're all 4k basically. Do you think if i watch enough of these videos i could do it myself? I think laying the floor will be doable but im worried sick about getting a strangulated bowel form lifting the heavy carpets up. I heard this can happen if you push your hernia/hernias too much. Thanks for reading and hopefully ill get some tips on how to get the bloody floors sorted! ThNks in advance, charlotte x
Thank you so much!! It’s took us about a week to complete the entire job. Which was about 900 sq ft that we covered our home with the Laminate flooring. What took up the most time was the prep/clean up. Installation of the laminate floor was super fast. Good luck on installing flooring in your home 🤗

Yes we did know those were asbestos. I stated that in video. We did seek professional advice on the tiles before we started installing the laminate flooring over it. We were advised as long as the tiles didn’t crack or pop we should we good and have no issues installing the laminate flooring over it. My husband had to grind the nails down that were used to hold down the carpet. Instead of ripping them up leading to cracking the tile and exposing the air with the asbestos fibers. We wore protective gear and used a shop vac while grinding down the nail to pick up any debris.

In Home Depot look the floor you want then messure your room and and the web page you can put the measurements and it will tell you how many you need
wow great idea!! love the look
Amazing you guys make it look so easy ! Random question where did u get the cat scratching post on your dining table!? Lol
Has this held up and how good is it against water?
do you need underlayment with these floors ?

Alright so the product you used had the underlayment already attached, my only question is, there are no nails holding the flooring down correct?
No there are no nails holding down the floor. Laminate flooring floats above your existing floor.
I had the same question lol

Did you place the spacer all around the room or just at the beginning?
