Derek Cianfrance did this recently in Place Beyond the Pines, where scenes mirrored earlier ones in their composition, though Cianfrance did this in a more noticeable way, he did it to demonstrate the power of legacy and how sons follow in the footsteps of their fathers. Good to see modern directors carrying on the same passion for film as the old masters.
I'm just learning about this man now and he seems to be a genius. His command of cinematic language is extraordinary.
The greatest director of all time
Yep
Perhaps my favourite film. A masterpiece.
This is a gem, the best movie from the best 3 in history. This man should have lived forever.
Great masterclass in narrative!

Reminds one so much of AS GOOD AS IT GETS... From the so called undesirable aging man to the dog
to the girl he helps,...etc..
I prefer Kieslowski to Cianfrance. Just a matter of taste.
She is fast
