- This is the ongoing rehabilitation and redevelopment of Rizal Park's eastern section.
In Section 6 of Republic Act 11333, the eastern section of the Rizal Park is now appropriated to the National Museum of the Philippines to form what it calls the National Museum Complex.
According to Republic Act 11333, “The National Museum shall develop the National Museum Complex within and adjacent to Rizal Park and other identified areas with reference to the Burnham Plan for Manila of 1905.”
The ongoing construction of the National Museum Complex where the proposed Quincentennial Pavillion, the proposed National Planetarium, National Herbarium and Quincentennial Exhibition Building shall be built beside the existing National Museum of Anthropology and the National Museum of Natural History.
(According to bidding documents for the development of National Museum Complex in Manila, Phase I.) In June last year, the relief map of the Philippines was demolished to pave the way for the construction of the proposed Quincentennial
Exhibition Building.
Barns said the fundamental basis for the demolition was Republic Act 11333 or the National Museum of the Philippines Act of 2018 that was the impetus for the agency to make a long-term plan, including building a new exhibition hall over the site of what used to be the Relief Map.
A proposed building of National Herbarium will soon rise beside the National Museum of Natural History.
The Philippine National Herbarium is considered the largest collection in Southeast Asia housing more than a million specimens dating back to the 18th century and a science library that was unequaled in the Far East. PNH destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in 1946.
The proposed National Herbarium is a modern facility that will house the collection of Philippine floras and faunas.
Another proposed building that will soon rise along Taft Avenue is the Quincentennial Exhibition Building.
A proposed new building of National Planetarium will replace the old one.
The proposed National Planetarium will feature educational and entertaining shows about astronomy. The popular children's playground located near the National Museum of Natural History has also been demolished last year as part of the redevelopment project.
The popular playground used to be maintained by the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC). Now the area is under the jurisdiction of the National Museum by virtue of the Republic Act 11333 or National Museum Act.
These proposed four new buildings are planned to be constructed at the eastern section of Rizal Park. Once completed, the public will have easy access to these museums all in one place. Rizal Park is undergoing redevelopment that aims to transform the historic park into a world class tourist destination.
Meanwhile, the newly-rehabilitated eastern section
of Rizal Park is now open to the public. The park has new concrete walkways, dozens of lamp posts and newly-planted palm trees.
To get here, you need to enter the National Museum of Anthropology where the entrance and exit are located.
The park is open to the public from Mondays to Sundays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

We need more green spaces, open spaces..maganda na yan as is, pag tumubo na ng maayos at luntian na ang mga grass at lumaki ang mga puno..wag na sana mag lagay ng kung anik2 dyan..it needs to be maaliwalas, walang obstruction sa views..expansive green lawns bordered with shrubberies is good enough, maybe a few well placed and really nice sculptures to break the flat layout..🤔, awat na rin sa mga dancing fountains na yan..a park needs to be organic and relaxing..a reflecting pool or pond with aquatic plants and fishes is much better than dancing fountains, there is organic life thriving in it, sa dancing fountains wala, aksaya na sa tubig pati na sa kuryente..🤔
For real Metro Manila Is literally a concrete jungle, needs to rage inspiration from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur

agree ako dito.. same sentiments.. maganda mung aayusin ung lawn. parang mga open spaces sa washington dc na kitang kita mo ung mga neoclassical buildings.. problema kasi satin , puro na lang tanim ng puno na hindi na makita ung mga building.. and if ever gawing park na rin ung golf course sa intramuros, make it a plaza and an open green/lawn space, dapat kita sa highway ung mga walls at sana illuminated at night parang sa Avila Spain.

Even our newly procured property in Samal, Island in Davao provides us the maximum benefits of nature.
Both in the city and island, we enjoy what we paid for.

Malaki ginanda at naging maaliwalas yung area dahil siguro nagkaroon ng malaking open space. Mas na highlight yung ganda ng National Museum buildings.
The park doesn't need to be rehabilitated to change it overall aesthetic, it just needed to be maintained as it is. It is beautiful and unique in its own right. Some places don't need to change to protect their heritage
What Manila needs are more greener spaces, not to build additional structures which add up to already cramped areas of the city. Besides there are far more important issues in our society that need to be laid out budgeted and rectified such as the uncontrollable population boom, people's education, health care, housing and employment. Paglaanan nyo nang solusyon ang kontrolinl ang lumalalang pagdami ng populadsyon ng mahihirap, edukasyon at pabahay ng hindi sila pakalat-kalat sa kung saang saang syudad sa Metro Manila na sya ring dahilan ng patuloy nyong paglilinis ng kanilang mga kalat sa mga daan, bangketa, kalye, mga ilog, dagat at kung saan-saan pa na walang katapusang linis. Pagtuunan nyo ng solusyon ang ugat ng pagdurumi ng lipunan hindi yung kung anu-anu aesthetic renovation ang naiisip nyo. Gumawa dapat sila ng mahusay na urban planning katulad ng unti-unting linisin ang mga squatters area sa buong Metro Manila sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatayo ng mga high-rise housing ng katulad ng ginawa ni Yorme sa Maynila na Binondominium na sya naman nyang kinopya sa Singapore na kung tawagin ay HDB (Home Development Program) na sya namang kinopya ni Lee Kwan Yew kay Pangulong Marcos nong dekada 70's upang magamit ang malalaking lupain na nasakop ng mga squatters upang gumawa pa ng maraming daan, roads at kalye na tutulong sa pagpapaibsan ng malalang problema sa trffic ng mga sasakyan at more green spaces ng makahinga naman ang buong Metro Manila. Pagmasdan nyo ang nangyari sa Maynila, sinimulang linisin ito noong panunungkulan ni Yorme Isko pero anu ang nangyari? Dahil sa kalamyaan ng pamamahala sa buong bansa tungo sa kalinisan, kaayusan, kapanatagan, edukado at kaunlaran na dapat ay magsimula sa Nacional ay hindi nyo man lang kayang masawata at pamahalaan ang mga pangkaraniwang tao tungo sa pagkadesiplina. Anu pa ang maaasahan sa inyo na proteksyunan ang mamamayan laban sa mga nananarantado sa bansa katulad ng Tsina, ni hindi nyo nga kayang pamahalaan ang sarili nyong lahi sa pagkadesiplina, hindi rin mapigilan ang pagpasok ng mga Chekwa sa bansa upang patuloy kayong alipinin sa sariling bansa. Ang hina ng mga binoto nyo.
Reflecting on the tram suggestion... Imagine if the tram line were connecting CCP to Divisoria? It would literally be a showcase of Manila's culture AND architecture.

@@MarkyGonzales it's doesn't look like a park, it looks more of a parking space. Instead of cement, what they should put is brick just like in instramuros. That cemented walkway is like what we have in our Cityroad, very dry and boring, a park should be provided with bench where people can sit and not just standing and walking around. Are the people in charge of developing a park still in a kindergarten.
