2021 anyone? This game still takes up a big spot in my heart, I was little and I remember my mother playing with me sitting behind her watching. and when I got older I tried to play by myself and I was so consumed by the story and soundtrack that sometimes I think it was all a big dream
still here
Waiting for the anniversary edition.
It just feels like a sword in the heart a really good and emotional one. I love how the story and the whole game can be described by music and this proves it but I am still really scared after the alt and normal endings. (Do not search it if you are too deep emotionally and have not seen it yet.)
🔥❤️
We'll be here
2022 and I still love the music, the story and the art of Braid.
This game is why I learned violin 12 years ago
aren't they playing cello in the ost mostly?
@@gxrsky So what? That's just an overgrown violin 🙂
And are you any good after all these years?
@@JBVXR No, hahaha
I play Downstream regularly on my own violin; I like to think this game has had a profound impact on my life
This soundtrack should go down in history as one of the best ever.
+Xo na (Matthew Doucette) This game is what solidifies videogames as art
Diego Rojas Indeed. The argument has been put to rest with Braid (even though we already knew the answer the whole time).
I'd put the game down with it.
+1 but thats our opiniom, not the entire world's
@Jack Clare we will get there one day 🙌
10 - 47:32 - Jon Schatz - Undercurrent (remix)

;)
Haha i get it because reverse
thanks!
This is the game that made me believe that games can be art. This is ART
Sometimes I wouldn't want to rewind just so that I could listen to the music without interruptions.
For me, instead, it was part of the beauty of that music, which was chosen also for the fact that it sounds interesting when listened backwards

Tim's power was a wound upon the universe. It makes sense that whenever you use it you are rewarded with an assault to the senses.
PlaguedByEarth I didn't feel it as an assault to my senses.. btw, Gamespot wrote that "[Blow] ultimately selected eight tracks that were sufficiently long to avoid notable looping while a player attempted to solve a difficult puzzle, and that provided a "different and interesting" sound when played in reverse to match the reverse time mechanic of the gameplay"
create a playlist and just add this video in it, then choose repeat playlist. Profit!
Gilpow Great, now someone needs to upload "Braid Soundtrack (In reverse)"
This game/soundtrack always reminds me of fall. When I would drive back roads in my hometown to the soundtrack, I would experience the air, the drenched fall colors and feel like a king surveying the land. EPIC
This is one of the games that got recommended to me as a way to get over heartbreak.
It helped for a time. I can't say I've gotten through it yet, but I can at least say I got to experience a work of art like this.
Hope you feel better soon. Wishing you best!
Very few games can achieve what this game has. A true focus on the immersive quality of art and music. Throughout the game, it invites you to a sense of passion that delivers itself with it's simple mechanics but more importantly; a thought provoking emotional rollercoaster of visuals & sounds. 10/10 for being one of the few games brave enough to take us there and back (no time traveling pun intended).
This game was a literal nightmare. But the Undercurrent music told me I must finish it. which I did.
In the end I loved it. Never to return
I'm 48 and I love videogame soundtracks. Think if videogames of my youth like pacman and frogger and asteroids had amazing soundtracks like this I'd still be playing them.
it's like listening to a concert, but sometimes videogames have so nice soundtracks that it's even better than hearing an actual concert
KASUwonderlandOnline Sometimes videogames have such nice soundtracks that you even stop playing to listen to it :p
Ashwin Srivastava or you go back to play it again just for the soundtrack, i did that with Granado Espada a few times
The best word to describe this game is Magical. With a capital M.
That's because it's not only just a good game. It's as engaging with your emotions as the best movie that will make you cry. This is just perfect. The music, the story, the character you don't even know but feel so closely related to.
I can't even explain it more, cause more words will simply destroy what has been said. Much props.
say this instead of what you said: Complex, and Amazing game, both with capital letters.
that's it.
that's all you need to say.
Rachel LaFein
I hope this is a joke but if it isn't, Braid is not a game on mobile devices you can get it on pc, ps3, xbox 360 and ps5.
What an exquisite soundtrack!
Braid was the game that made me believe in the indie scene. Nowadays, I mostly skip the so-called AAA and resort myself to playing indie games.
BTW, Jonathan Blow is sort of my hero. Can't wait for The Witness!
Did you enjoy the witness?
Fun fact: the piece that goes between 7:38 and 10:10 (inside Downstream) was actually composed by Bieito Romero and it's called "O son do ar". :D I wish more people who know and love his work would know how far his influence has come
+Ri deAtmora Thanks for the info! I updated the description.
+Ri deAtmora galicia power
+Ri deAtmora its beautiful work too, great piece
+XwalkerX Estudia
I dont know what,s the meaning of "estudia" but l2p
A wonderful soundtrack for a wonderful game.
2023 - still the best
I don't care what you say. The picture is moving.
+Soleyiu S it is!
+Kevin Tan
ever so slightly, a beautiful touch
I don't believe it is
No friend, you are the one that's moving and the picture is watching you.
It is, no matter where you go in time .... it will be fine though
I recall many a time when I just wanted to relax, read, or sleep, and I would leave on my Xbox just to hear this music (especially from the second world). Soothing and fantastic, all in one, not forgetting how fantastic the game is as well. It takes on a narrative that creates a unique, complex, and extremely entertaining story for everyone and anyone to play and enjoy. If this game does not become a classic in the video game industry, then we have failed as a society to recognize something easily identifiable as a modern-day Mona Lisa equivalent.
Glad to be able to listen to the full track for once. It gets annoying if you constantly have to rewind and shit.
Cri354 tru haha, also to hear a small reverse part
I lost track of the amount of times tingles shot down my spine. Everything about this soundtrack is so otherworldly and beautiful and fits so amazingly with a game as unique as Braid. Glad I got to hear it without having it rewound every 5 seconds.
Incredible soundtrack, really stunning
This is really amazing music I wish every game had a soundtrack as beautiful as this one
la cagó la música
Valentina Castillo terrible de wena
Parzival Valentina Castillo loko wom
The creators of Braid licensed nearly all of their music from existing albums on Magnatune. I remember listening to Downstream and the Luliby Set years before Braid come out.
Also, if you liked Downstream, check out a tune called "A Son Do Ar", which appears to be the source of one of it's melodys.
nice one. the clip is quite amazing as well ; )
Wow the second part of this A Son Do Ar is very surprising, like Celtic music!
is it possible that A Son Do Air was used in anno 1503 ?
i have the feeling that i heard that a long time ago :)
Welp, it is Galician music, so Celtic it is.
This music is beyond a soundtrack. Emotional and heart touching at the same time. I'm sure that this music will accompany me and others trough the journey of our lives
I would listen to this soundtrack on and on.
It's been about 8y since I first played this game. Someone special recommended it to me back then.
So here I am today, listening to this amazing music and feeling as if I've traveled back in time...
around the 20 minute mark when the sax comes in and the piano. just breathtaking.
Game Of The Century
words cannot describe how glad I am that this soundtrack- and, most importantly, this game- exist.
I listened to the full OST on Spotify so much that my free limit ran out. Then I came here and listened to it more. Thanks for the upload
Beautiful. Thanks for the full upload!
I love this soundtrack so much! It's freaking beautiful!💕
Thanks for uploading this! And for not flooding it with adverts; that bit in particular is really appreciated!
Best game ever, fantastic soundtrack as well.
Such an incredibly beautiful soundtrack for a truly wonderful and deep game. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to upload this. I haven't played the game but was recommended the soundtrack as good reading music. Cheers!
The best piece of art work I've ever played. Inspired me so much and will continue to inspire me in my path of a game designer.
Yaaasss I was needing a new soundtrack in my life!!!!! This is perfect
Love doing homework to this soundtrack. Reminds me of the great time I had completing this game.
:)
I played this game several years ago and I still come back to the soundtrack every so often
THNXS!
Some say it's a story of a toxic relationship. Other say it's a story of the atom bomb. Both are beside the underlying point.
Braid is a parable of passion-turned-obsession and the ensuing collateral damage when the obsessed finally gets what he thought he wanted. In that regard, it is an absolute masterpiece.
38:30 - 39:06
absolutely love this part
Listening to this OST is a thing of marvel and beauty.
Listening to it whilst actually playing the game...
...scary as shit
spacetimebomb Have you even played the game? This music doesn't make anything even slightly scary.
the ending broke my heart...
*Spoilers* that was the first time I played a video game and found out that you were the bad guy. The game is in every sense of the word, a work of art.
Nicholas Stapleton Have you played Spec Ops: The Line?
This makes me think of the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack. Hand-picked songs that were not created for the pieces of art that utilized them, yet when paired become iconic and hard to separate from each other.
Me encanta gran trabajo bro
Wow, beautiful work here.
Quite sad, some memories can never be created again, some moments can never be lived again and some masterpieces can never happen to exist anymore.
لا تزال من العابي المفضله الى الان
The greatest essay writing music
lovely, thank you :)
Wow... this makes me feel so nolgastalgic... this was one of the first ever games i played when i was younger , i was in the 1st grade... almost makes me cry looking back on it
Nolgastalgic? Based
Thanks for your game and music :)
никогда не забуду, как эта игра повлияла на меня
Fun fact.. this is not an OST. The music existed before the game was even made. It's a licensed soundtrack actually. It was not composed for the game.
+Marcello Bizzi Read the title again.
+based jol funny thing is, your comment sounds much more like you're offensed than +CROWALERT does in his :P
he's nitpicky and you're aggressive, like he'd insulted you or Thiago Vidal
+Thiago Vidal Whether it was designed for Braid or not...it IIISSS Braid.
Tucker it issssss true my fellow reptilian... leaf a like
Fantastic I almost forgot about this piece of art.
It's the end of 2023, and today they just announced the braid remake is launching in April 2024. Never forget Braid.
nice soundtracks, enjoy it ! Thank !
Finished game like year ago, but its just soo hearttouching, to hear it again
This is some great VGM. Beauty.
[Inspired by Braid]
As Tim ponders the ebb and flow of time, he interrogates it, brow furrowed.
It slips away from him like a fleeting tide. Upon chasing it down, his mind waxes and wanes like the moon itself.
Was his dark brighter than his light?
Tim stands knee deep in water, watching the moon enveloped in drifting clouds.
In the distance, he discerns an island, its shadowy form revealing the outline of a castle atop its peaks.
He finds a rowboat near a distant pier, stealing it in the sleepless night like time itself. With sharp resolve, he penetrates the waves that splash against his shoddy vessel. His eyes never leave the island but for a glance at the ephemeral moon, soon to be outshone by dawn's light. The castle was close.
Tim disembarks. Exasperated, he clambers his way to the castle, only to observe how the rocks had been worn down over time. Tide and riptide erode even the most resilient structures.
The castle gradually betrayed by sunken land, Tim rests against its rocks, a sunken man.
Holy shit! 2019 what are you doing here? 🤣🤣👌🏼
Thanks for writing this, you gifted me with a wonderful short story for my mind :)
@@majeck Thank you for commenting. Though I had forgotten about this, it makes me happy to read your words.
A great and impossibly sad game asks for an equally great and sad soundtrack... love everything about this soundtrack.
This soundtrack brings back memories of how I felt two years ago, in such a beatiful way
What a wonderful soundtrack. It's reminds me The Corrs.
Very relaxing soundtrack, beautiful.
Great memories from this game, and the beautiful soundtrack...
That crow cawing sound at the very end of 'O son do ar' always gets me lol.
The soundtracks are amazing can't believe I've never heard of this game before.
Brings back happy memories of playing this game 10/10!
This is a timeless masterpiece!
18:34 I love when games use ancient music. That's "Romanesca" by Diego Ortiz from the early 17th century. Here's a version by Jordi Savall: ruclips.net/video/VEg5Ck-QnCU/видео.html
21:05 nostalgia kicks in
This was the first game, in a long time, that sucked me in enough to complete it in a weekend session of gaming.... Partly brought to you by, the soundtrack.
(Regardless of the original composers credit)
Shira Kammen - Downstream Best song.
Undercurrent gives me so much chills I almost want to cry
So beautiful and wonderful.
Amazing.
Such a beautiful song...
One of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard!
I played this in 2007 and I still love the soundtrack omg
Purely astronomically magnificent... ✨
Thanks Holly and Kati
One of the most beautiful games ever.
masterpiece
Saw the video "Sony HXR-NX3 Test Drive" on the Sony website, and instantly recognized the first track from Braid.
It was long past gone when that cold wind hit me, I still think and wonder when he will come back...Some days it seems like forever ago. I am left with a key and message. I think my destiny lies somewhere in the clouds above, but for now I shall wander through the blinding fog, lost until I find the lock to this key...
This is what I listen to when I need to think. Beautiful music
Magical.
la segundo da un sentimiento de aventura de viajar a lo desconocido me enamorado del videojuego por su jugabiidad innovadora , por su historia , el amor y dedicación de su banda sonora.
perfect music to code to
learning assembly here. The music puts me in a zen like state.
TheNattak you need to be very zen while learning assembly or you'll punch holes in your walls
Patrick Arsenault HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
Patrick Arsenault xD LOL
yeah you right. this puts me right in the mood for making my games
The Best Of all Of Times🔥
this is REAL nostalgia
2020 anyone?
i listen to it every morning during yoga. gotta stay active!
@Why Me it makes it really easy to time out exercises along with the music for a consistent work out, and since it’s some of my favourite music it gives me something to look forward to every day.
Shut up, cringe.
2023, love Sieber and love this game for introducing me to her work.
2023😂
awesome!
Bless Jami Sieber for her genius music
that's great
Yasss, Shira Kammen! I used to listen to her on Harmonia on NPR!
Phenomenal game and one of the greatest scores
I woke up this morning and chose VIOLINS.
Amazing waking up music
simplemente sublime, hermosa
