I had a Rover 414 SLi since 1995 till 2020.It was very beautiful, fast and extremely reliable.. Currently I have a Rover 45 ,1.400cc, sedan, model of 2002,in excellent condition.I like very much the British cars because they have unique design. Equipped with chrome, wood and sunroofs in many models..Huge respect from Greece ! I
Labour didn't want to spend more public money on a desperate case, and thus go back to the old folly days of BL, totally subsidized by the State and equally inefficient. It's the very thing that Margaret Thatcher did, isn't it? The question is: why the foreign manufacturers running plants in the UK (Honda, Nissan...) have been successful all along, while MG Rover continued to suffer from the same problems of BL and AR till final collapse? Were the Unions admitted in Rover plants only? Please!
Mmm, you mean Rover and LandRover? I do not think it matter, because they had been separated since MG-Rover era. If consumer has no problem to distinguish these two brands back then, they should not have problem to distinguish these two brands right now. Thought I had yet to be a hardcore British car fan. But I still believe it is better to let some one use the Rover brand and give her a chance to shine rather than let her stay in the warehouse and rust away like now.
*cough* Correction "NAC and TATA dont drop the ball!" SAIC make up a brand called Rowee(?). Love their car, hate the brand. If SAIC give the 550 to NAC-MG. The future of both company will look a lot brighter!
One of the saddest pieces of news that still effects.I find it odd he reporter said the 75 failed to capture imagination yet the SV/SVR did. Surely the 75 was by far more profitable? I dont think that is the case anyway,I think part of it is the public at large will only buy what looks like the same car for a limited time.I think after the BMW pullout, combined with what comes across to me as a laid back `folly` for the Phoenix 4 and the Labour Govt. lead to this in the immediate later period.
Concorde, Rover, Industrys of Britain, Banking is all well and good. Remember the time when All tools where made in Britain? well itrs too late the hero. Lets hope SAIC andTATA Dont drop the ball! and make something of the great technology Britain produce and let go so easy. Rover owner.
The most anoying thing I would say is. "we put money into brittish banking because this is the way forward, Banking in Britian is how we make money"< statement from 2005, Well its amazing how a labour government could sell off Industry! Also please remember Land rover /Jaguar sale from Ford to TATA? Well Rana TATA has plenty of cash, he came cap in hand to the British government and asked for cash to keep the companies in Britain. The government agreeed! Rana Tata is a Multi-Billionare! explain?

Sad .. the best looking car I have ever had was a Rover 75 model year 2003. Bought it brand new and had it for 10 years.
Bad management robbed by Tower.Had billions off the tax payer, models outdated.Shame really 😐
I cannot believe 70% of the British public voted no in saving MG Rover...
I betcha the result would have been different if you polled BBC or ITV news watchers.
How much public money went into British Leyland and how did that turn out?
The problem with the British public is, they’re a bunch of twats.
SHOULD PUBLIC MONEY BE SPENT ON SAVING ROVER YES
someone had to save MG Rover. It was one fo the best car companies
Such a sad story another great British industry gone :( mgr forever! !!!!

Well, I doubt TATA really want Rover, since Jaguar and Rover are somewhat overlapping in the market.
Nice to see this report again!
