@@BochinFTW also, the Unreal Engine graphics, that were used in the B. U. (My own nerdy acronym for “Before the Update”) game, were crappy to begin with. That’s because the software version used for the switch wasn’t compatible for the console mobile hybrid. That means that you’ll see low rendering trees and other elements that make you want to throw up your eyes. Plus, on some occasions, the game crashes, which is a bigger letdown
Everytime I see the Tek ATV I always say "Oh yeah thats in the game" then followed by "DON'T GET IN-" Glad to see Switch ARK keeping with the trend of the Tek ATV being the buggest thing ever and I wouldn't have it any other way. I like the voice of Rockwell in the Switch version, but I think the voice you guys have for him in the Ark story series showcases his personality a bit better
They just announced all the expansion passes are coming and apparently upped the loading times, textures, shadows and overall quality so maybe it will be soon
Even though I played the game on Xbox I decided to play the switch version for single player and so far I’ve had a blast, the graphics may not be as good as series X and modern pc hardware but the gameplay is still there and now I can take it everywhere I want in a simple handheld like the switch makes this probably the best way to play the game single player in my opinion but I’m sure others might disagree
I am enjoying ark now on my switch. I can see and react now instead of waiting on sounds to know if an enemy dino was coming and it’s normally too late by then. Getting new Dino’s is much easier now and I am so thankful for that. No more breeding pens.
Very awesome, although I've already found out that my $300 (what I thought was a microwave-performance computer) pc can handle ARK on lowest graphics, with surprisingly great framerate. tbh, ARK is nowhere near as unoptimized as I originally thought (although that 400 GB download definitely could go through CompactGUI a few times).
I bought this for the switch years ago to play when traveling. Except the game was unplayable. So happy to see that i can pass time on a 6 hour flight with this game now! How do we get the rest of the maps?
While the resolution is drastically improved I do prefer the lighting on the old version of Ark Switch. The contrast between the sky and shadows right now desperately needs to be tamed
I have to say, I'm surprised. I never thought that the Switch could run ARK this well, cus whenever I played Minecraft with my friend on his Switch, it always lags as hell and takes quite a long time to load a few new chunks. But Minecraft has way more primitive textures, animations etc., so I never thought that ARK could run this well on the Switch, even with not that high graphics as on the other platforms. The only question is if the Switch is worth buying. It isn't made for games this big. Rather the actuall Nintendo games, and some other games from other developers, which aren't as this big. There aren't that many games aviable as on other devices. But in exchange it has Mario, Zelda and idk what games, cus I don't have a Switch. It's for people who like that games. Not really for ARK. But it's good if it runs quite properly on the Switch

It generally don't has much storage and RAM, so I cannot imagine how it will perform with all the Dlc-s. But yeah, we'll see

i seriously wonder how the massive chasm in abberation is going to work, but i personally don't think there will be problems with extinction or genesis part 1. Genesis part 2 will be a wonder if it manages to run well with all the flying around the players will be doing.

It is very fun and very playable but no cryopods unfortunately. So I recommend just reducing your server tame time to zero and just clam a low level quetzel
honestly, after the changes grove street has made, including 100 dino limit and 1,400 strucure limit, most of us OG switch players want the original version back
66.7K views but 11 players on official and 30 players on unofficial almost monthly and weekly. it is 11/4/22 and there were 2089 servers on ark and only 24 players on any of them... God damn this game died.

I haven't played the mobile version, but given that the Switch version will have the content matching the PC and other versions in the coming months, I would say yes.

Ark is such a failure of a game to be honest. It's sad how a game with so much potential gets screwed up by lag issues with the amount of dinosaurs you have or whatever. It's a shame because if it weren't for that among other Performance issues it would be one of the greatest games ever.

Correct, I can confirm it as a veteran old Switch version player. Current version is a joke. 100 tame limit on official, hardly any dinos spawn, using cryopods causes rollback, some other weird glitches, such as being stuck on invisible obstacles, dying from cold with outside temperature +21, and just dying without any reason in underwater caves, like loosing all of the health immediately. I'm not even talking about loosing all XP and all dinos from old Switch server...
Now I know they recently updated. Lag is barely noticeable. It works well. Just play single player and not online or change the settings to spawn more in.

In Optionsmenu the soundmixer for Music is useless because music and effekts on the same soundmixer. The Trees dancing so strong in the wind that they hit the ground with they crone. The KI of dinos are very bad, sometimes they didn´t move, hang all time on stones, trees or them self. The Recources are sometimes unvisible and you running against a wall. Sometimes you are lucky and you can get millions of fisch from a small one he didn´d despawn after he is empty you can hit him again and get more and more fish. After all this shit happens alot of time i give up, this game is not realy playable. Next Update in 4 years???
Unless you like nintendo games, you shouldn't be buying a switch in the first place. For a negligible difference in price you can get a steam deck which is 14× as powerful.
@@justcullen9304 I think it's important to avoid using figures unless they're backed up. I do think as a handheld, the Steam deck isn't bad, but a switch feels a lot better and because of the type of gamer I am, I prefer something that is a lot more accessible, despite being less powerful.
"Negilible"? no no, the actual situation is, in my country a switch lite cost about $150 (2nd hand in good condition) or $200 for brand new one, $310+ for normal switch, $360 for Oled brand new, and the cheapest steamdeck is bloated to over $600. The highest version has the price of a decent gaming laptop. But the price isn't a problem, biggest problem still the size of it is not really handheld friendly

Yeah I brought ark for the first time on the Switch and yeah, it’s much better visually. Still doesn’t look amazing but it’s a real improvement

But steam deck big bulky, isn't couch play with friends friendly. I mean I can have 8 players on my switch at once playing smash.
Where did the 14x figure come from? I've used my Steam Deck a lot and it is isn't that much more powerful than a switch in my experiences.
