I am new to Apple laptop. Once I asked the apple service center in Mangalore to upgrade my 2013 macbook air to Mojave thinking that they might do it better since they are trained people. They were charging me 3000 Rs to update so I didn't do it as I have seen this can be download free from the app store. Now gonna do it by myself watching your tutorial.
I agree with Gavin's comment. The next time you produce a video, it would be nice if your title concides with the content. You did speak mostly about backups, information I already know, so would not have taken my time to watch this, as my main interest is in the Mojave upgrade.
Personally, I knew about backups as well, and had my backup already in place. But imagine the hate comments this guy would have had to suffer if he didn't go through all that and nube lost everything. Just be grateful you have this video and skip through the parts you don't need (duh!l)
I’ve been using Sierra 10.12.6 for years, and after a factory reset, reinstalling a lot of stuff, I finally went ahead and upgraded to mojave. Will come back to update on my experience with it, thank you so much for the help.

I was running Mojave, faced a SSD failure. I got a new SSD and reinstalled MacOS. At present i got 10.7.5 installed through the online restore. Now I am unable to upgrade to Mojave.

Does that mean that I don't need to adapt/format it to a mac drive if it is a pre-installed pc drive? And regarding my photos and videos that are stored on iCloud. If they are not synced to my Macbook, will they be downloaded and backed up with time machine?

Help! I'm stuck in an endless Catch 22 of trying to upgrade from Sierra 10.12.6 to Mojave. Every time I try to access the App Store I get the message, "To use the Mac App Store, you need Mac OS 10.6.6 or greater." It gives a link to "learn more," but that just takes me to the Big Sur page. When I try to download Big Sur, it shows "Calculating" for a minute, then the Download link turns to blue again and then it greys out. I've tried 8 times to download and nothing happens. (I have 177 GB available on this 2017 MacBook Air). I've been at this for 5 hours now, reading countless articles and watching endless videos, trying to upgrade so I can install InDesign. I've tried the "secret" links to old versions, but they only give a link to "Open" which always give a message that the file is corrupted. How in the world can I update this computer when I can't even access the Mac App Store for a download of Mojave?
I bought a, refurbished, MBP on amazon. The App store told me I need to upgrade to Mojave, this being fresh HD I fit my stuff on a 32GB SDHC card (can't afford ex-HD) it came without a how to so I need to ask for help! Please Thank you!

One question: I'm going to attempt an update from El Capitan to Mojave, and consulting a technician they said that my hard disk will need to be wiped to install the update, which is why Time Machine backup is crucial. Does the update to Mojave automatically wipe the hard drive or is that a extra necessary step you need to do before installing? Thanks so much!
The updates will not wipe the hard drive. You have to do that yourself. However, of you do, you will have to reinstall Mojave from a USB otherwise your Mac will want to reinstall what it came with.
that link you gave for the T5 has multiple reviews claiming they got ripped off with a fake T5. one person said they sent Samsung the serial number and they said it wasn't real? one guy said his crashed after 3 days and he lost 400g of media.

I paid 600... it’s the 2014 256ssd 8g ram I believe. I updated to Mojave and omG this is amazing so smooth coming from a $400 HP lol. It’s amazing condition too only thing is a tiny little crack in the apple light logo but not too noticeable and apple store said it’s not even worth replacing the assembly because the lcd is not effected. I wasn’t sure at first about making the purchase but all I can say is this is one of the best investments I’ve ever purchased!!!

After the update from High Sierra, the Color Sync Utility had several error messages but I ignored them and proceeded to the security update in Mojave. As a result, every time I end my video call (while I'm using my wired headphones), I cannot hear any sound from my other apps like Spotify or RUclips. So I shifted back using High Sierra. Hopefully, there is a workaround for this update. BTW, I'm using Macbook Pro 2012 with SSD and 12Gig RAM

Took recommendation for the WD, it failed out the gate once I clicked the erase button and according to both reviews and WD forums for some reason this ext-drive will not work with the mac. Oh, and as to the other recommendation, the Amazon reviews say pretty much the same, it works; it doesn't work; it works and then fails... even the drive recommended by Apple... same ol same ol. Sigh

I think he has links above which will tell you how to check if your computer can run Mojave (or google a question re this) . I would search on youtube for a video about updating from lion to Mojave there might be one which would help. You may have to upgrade to an intermediate operating system (perhaps snow leopard, I don't know) before you can upgrade to Mojave.
Try to get El Capitan (its free in the App Store) Start your upgrades from there ... I had to do several upgrades and it took me forever but you will at least make it to high Sierra. Good luck. Btw, I have a 2010 Mackbook. You don’t have to do this but I also added some ram for about $20 and now my old Mac is running great.👍🏿
This is too much info. I installed updates a few months ago and since then my add blocker doesn't work and when I try to download it again it says it doesn't support my browser. Other webpages doesn't support my browser since it's out of date. I run firefox. So I tried to download a newer version of firefox and it doesn't support my operating system. I have OS X snow leopard version 10.6.8. I just want to know what to do to get my add blocker back and to stop webpages from sending me the your browser is out of date message. I can't even access my Chase account! Please I don't want "everything". I don't want mojave or what ever all the stuff Macs can now do. I just don't want to be interrupted. And no I don't have a back up. I don't know what this is. I just don't have the interest or attention span to learn everything about computers and software. Please help.

I would recommend updating to either Mojave or High Sierra, they're both way better than El Capitan in terms of compatibility

I have OS X snow leopard version 10.6.8. I just want to know what to do to get my add blocker back and to stop webpages from sending me the your browser is out of date message. I can't even access my Chase account!
Please I don't want "everything". I don't want mojave or what ever all the stuff Macs can now do. I just don't want to be interrupted. And no I don't have a back up. I don't know what this is. I just don't have the interest or attention span to learn everything about computers and software. Please help.
