Maybe I'm just a naive Westerner who watches this great English language news service you have but can't New Delhi just massively subside EVs in New Delhi proper, convert as many cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles etc to run on electricity instead of Smog, I mean gasoline and diesel that comes out of the exhaust as fresh smog? I know it's probably not realistic to expect a billion plus people to all have access to Electrical Vehicles given how expensive they are and how difficult they are to produce but even if you just focus on converting as many vehicles that regularly operate in the city itself you could at least reduce the air pollution. Maybe they could look into making it easier for Indian companies to produce EVs with subsidies and tax breaks or offer tax incentives to potential EV Buyers who live within the city limits. Maybe reach out to Musk and see if he can come down a little bit on the price and buy Teslas from him in bulk or ask him to design EV electric buses for public transportation. Maybe reach out to Chinese EV makers that they can get special tax benefits if they sell certain types of vehicles and market them to the state where the Indian Capital resides. Maybe none of these "suggestions" are viable but there must be something that can be done to make the air breathable again. I've seen this kind of smog when I went to the Philippines in the city of Baguio. A wonderful city in the mountains but it's narrow streets are a pollution trap and it can be breathtaking in a very literal and not so positive way. If I had Musk's money I would invest in EV buses and taxi services in Buguio, Philippines and see if that had a impact on the air pollution. Could EVs cut down on the Smog in New Delhi, I don't know but I think it's at least worth investigating because something clearly needs to change. I know I don't live there but if I did I would consider this UNACCEPTABLE. Air is kind of important and people need to breath without getting cancer in 20 years. Hello, I respect your opinion but as an Indian there's few more things that's needs to be understood 1. Location of Delhi NCR is a major issue here. The high pressure zone that gets created after withdrawal of monsoon is a natural cause. 2. Stubble burning in neighbouring states- these farmers can't afford the machinery required plus due to changing climate they are in dilemma to sow the next crop early hence can't wait 3. Yes the option for EVs is lucrative but as you said not everyone can afford and government does give subsidy and tax breaks for adoption but people don't find them attractive coz of lack of proper infra- charging stations, tropical climate that drains battery faster hence changing them multiple times etc I hope you understand but yes the government needs to do more then just taxes and subsidies given that it is amongst the most polluted cities around the world.

What an irony! We speak more English than any coungtry in the world. Anyway, more Punjab territory is in Pakistan than in India. In simple words the West want India to waste its economy in security than in infrastructure, indirectly keep India in poverty.
