    I think it was a big mistake for Toyota not to bring the BZ3 to the US. Even with small sales numbers, they would at least show a better transition to ev models. I would have brought over both battery packs with no options. Your only choice would be the color. If they were priced correctly, they would have no problem selling them. It would be the BYD we cannot get in the US.

    I will be getting my Tesla Model 3 RWD on March 17, I would like to thank you for the immense help you were in my final decision. You are probably the only one I trust with your analysis of electric cars. I live in the Province of Quebec in Canada and when you buy a Tesla Model 3 Standard Range you get $5000 from the Federal Government and $7000 from the Provincial Government making that car very affordable. Thanks again for your help and I will continue to watch your videos. Hope your wife comes out on top of that malicious sickness.

    You ask if we would consider buying this. I'd consider any bev as long as it meets a base level of features that equals Tesla. Only then would it be considered. Does it come standard base model with an Autopilot(adaptive cruise w lane keep). Can it be upgraded with a simple in app purchase to provide auto lane change, or allow me to add fsd on subscription when needed? Does it have sota and fota? Do I have the option to schedule basic maintenance to come to me? Do I get a full suite of cameras to monitor my car and record while driving..standard feature mind you? Do I get cabin over heat protection, dog mode, camp mode? Can I schedule my car to precondition before traveling or when I'm traveling between chargers..to minimize charge times? Does the car come with an app...subscription required, to monitor my car 24.7? The list is endless. How good is it's voice command system compared to Tesla...Does this Toyota even have that? Does it come standard with heated steering wheel and seats..for the 4 season drivers of course.
    Honestly, if Toyota wants to make this then compare it to a gm bolt euv or normal bolt. There is no equal comparison to Tesla unless you can come close to some of there features. Gm has an app but is locked behind paying after the free period is over...its not free all the time..like Tesla. GM is not a comparable car...and I'd venture a guess neither will Toyota.
    Fun fact, plenty of teslas model S has been on the road for a good decade now and still works just fine. Guess the whole reliability argument is loosing ground...who would have guessed. Model 3 approaching 6 years now...again that reliability argument is loosing more ground..who would have guessed. Venture a guess on how the Model y will hold up? Cybertruck? Next generation platforms? Here is a clue...use your past to determine the projected reliability and improvements each generation brought...it will show a clear road map. So far Toyotas road map for bev is not good...bad range..wheels falling off..6 months to fix?...no more like software issues guised with wheel issues. Poor design, pitiful thermal management, no proven ota....so far that past is not painting a successful or reliable picture for their bev line up. Those are just the current facts..they can change...but I'm not willing to be a test subject. Just saying.

    Years ago, in the US, I bought my two daughters Lexus ES-300s with 100k (one owner) miles on them for $6,000 apiece. The ES-300 at that time was just a top-of-the-line Camry, but bulletproof, safe transportation. My daughters put another 100kmi on the cars with nothing but brake rotors and pads every now and then "Daddy, the radio can't overpower the metal-to-metal sound from the brakes anymore. Could you have a look?" Since the 70s (?) Toyota has made reliable basic transportation (Corolla, Camry), but now they have lowered themselves to rebadging BYDs. That is sad. Nothing against BYD, but Toyota is going downhill fast. Naturally, the Japanese govt will save them, but where are the innovation and building quality that they were once so famous for?
    I see Nokia in Toyota's future. Too arrogant. Too confident.

    • @jennihilbrecht2503
      @jennihilbrecht2503 Год назад +6

      I agree, Toyota was very arrogant when refusing to fully commit to BEVs. But on the other hand, it was a very clever move to cooperate with BYD. They have high quality electric components, while Toyota is able to build cheap, reliable cars. Maybe something good will come out of this joint venture. Fingers crossed.

    • @nilsfrederking62

      The Japanese government will try to save Toyota, my opinion is, that Toyota cannot be saved in an economically reasonable way. Japan will see a significant economical downfall, Germany and other countries heavily relying on legacy car manufacturers too. While Germany at least has the Tesla GF. For Japan the best thing to do would be let Toyota go bankrupt and Tesla build a new GF on the property of the former Toyota plant.

      @@jennihilbrecht2503 The problem with BYD cooperation is that it will break off sooner or later. BYD gains much more from this than Toyota does in the short term, and Toyota still needs to develop their platform long term.
      But if Toyota can sell rebranded BYD cars to keep them afloat, for the next few years, then it was a wise move. This only assumes BYD isn't backstabbing biyatches though.

Aussies may go for a Toyota EV instead just for after sales service and brand recognition, or you can see Tesla have really done their homework here on pricing and Range with battery sizes ....maybe just buy a Tesla. If Tesla wants to they could make their STD range Model 3 pricing at $50-55k and they would mop the competition up.

      All you have to do is test drive one. I have been driving for many decades and have own many cars, my Tesla model S is the greatest thing I have ever driven, great fun car that goes like a rocket if need be. I particularly like the free OTA software updates that are released every 3-5 weeks. My Tesla just keeps getting better, even the range went from low 370s miles to current 402 miles in the first year of ownership thanks to tweeks in the battery management software. A recent update now makes a single chime when the traffic light turns green or the car in front moves but you don’t, you can turn it off but it’s great. Another update can instantly raise the car if it spots a large pothole so you don’t bottom out, only available on the S and X which have variable air suspension. The feature also leaves the car at a higher level if you happen to drive on a road full of potholes, later it will lower the suspension when there are no more potholes, no driver intervention. Lots of other neat stuff added, some just cosmetic but very cool, new arcade games added or improved from time to time, esp around the holiday season.

Non-regenerative vehicles often go multiple years without the need to change the pads, and changing the pads is probably a lot more simple than the labour required to regrease the brake pistons.
