Reason 3 really hit me “why am i only proud of myself if other people are proud of myself”

Hello Paige, I really enjoyed the thoughtful breakdown you made for all of the reasons and the examples for each of them. For me, the reason that resonated the most was #3: caring too much about the opinions of others. As I reflect about it more, I got the readiness checklist completed for reasons #1-5 as much as reasonably possible (because after all, there is never a perfect time to quit a job and change careers) and need to just make that leap. After all, if it does not work out, I can always go back to getting a crappy job in my previous career.

I had to resign from my job. It became to stressful trying to look for a job after work. I always work long days. 10-11 hours days. I was exhausted from being on my feet all day. I had a hard time making the interviews cause we had to give 48 hour notice to request the time off. Then there was no guarantee you'd be approved. I started acting desperate in my interviews cause i knew i could only ask for so much time off.

I put in my notice today after very recently being promoted. I think i made the correct choice and i don't feel any regret just some fear about the next chapter. I enjoy your career related videos i think we are around the same age and the advice is very helpful. Thankyou

Congratulations!! And enjoy the journey of this next chapter! Glad to hear you don’t feel any regret. Make note of your reasons for leaving as a reminder to your future self! Although I never have regrets, the doubt and fear creeps in from time to time. I’m so glad you enjoy the videos and that they are helpful for you! If there’s anything specific you want me to talk about, definitely let me know!

It’s not so bad to leave on a high, which in your case was shortly after promotion. It may not be too hard to find a better job thereafter.

Never felt so much vains dancing in my head before, constipation off the charts, withdrawing from everyone, snapping at the wind for crying out loud. There was a meeting in our department, everyone seem so passionate and I couldn't wait to get out, tomorrow is Monday, Everytime I eat breakfast at work I get heartburn

I watched your videos 1 year ago thinking about quitting. There was always excuses holding me back from quitting my 9-5.
Through the course of 2022, l began to formulate a plan and put things in place financially to quit.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and after watching your videos and other channels on the same topic, l finally plucked the courage to put in my notice to my manager to quit my job (digital designer), I’ve been with the same company for 18 years. For the first 16 years, l absolutely loved the job and people I worked with. Then things changed when the management changed. It became toxic.
    I had to get out.
I felt like Truman in the Truman Show at the end walking through that door to a different world...l’m excited where this may lead me..

Recently quit a part time job as a manager because the stress and energy was literally becoming the same as a full time job + a lot of unnecessary toxic attitude from the owner expecting people to just take one-sided communication, refusing all employee feedback, and weekly turnover. Mind-reading and gaslighting games when employees asked questions - "hey, I need some extra info" - "please READ what I posted" - "yes, I've read it but I still need this info" - "stop arguing with me and why are you frustrated" - "what? I just need this extra info..." - "pleeeease re-read it" 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ worst part was the info was very quick to provide later too... a few seconds to save such a huge hassle.
often on days off too: "heeeeey, I NEED someone to work asap today " and "uhh NO, we already have enough staff" 🙃🙃
Trusted myself to leave for sure 😉😉

Hi Paige ! New to your content. It’s very helpful. I work in academia and I am so burned out. My work environment is also extremely isolating despite being required to go to my office every day. Tomorrow, I’ll either submit my notice or walk away.
