Nothing scary about it at all, it is an amazing feat of engineering and construction allowing vehicular traffic and ocean going vessels including aircraft carriers, submarines and huge container ships to cross the same area, not to mention the great fishing at the water level by small boats and kayaks.
It’s only “scary” because it’s underwater. It looks the exact same as tunnels that go through entire mountains. I think the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado is longer (over a mile long 11000 ft in the Rocky Mountains).

It sucks, hours to find out that the traffic is only from bonehead drivers to scary to maintain the speed limit.
For the boats that are constantly passing through that area. I’m assuming it’s better to have traffic a constant flow then to make a bridge that rises to allow boats to pass and that would stop traffic.

There's nothing scary about this tunnel. I've ridden in it several times. Area traffic is unnerving for drivers unused to it -- that's about as scary as it gets. By the way, I've been on Amtrak when it was stalled under what I think was the Hudson River.
