I think the logical move would be Vegas and then either Seattle or Vancouver and then move NOLA and Memphis to the east. If they wanted to do something a bit bolder than Mexico City would be a great option as its a HUGE untapped market.
All they need to do realistically is get deals finalized with seattle and LV future owners and governments of the city, and then annouce them at the same time or close to each other, and move new orleans to the eastern conference (where i think it should of been all along) and then it would be a perfect 16 and 16 in each conference
I think Minnesota makes much more sense to move to the east, it would have to travel less with the Bulls, Bucks, Pistons, & Pacers pretty close by while the Pelicans would have way worse travel if they went to the east.
Montreal Quebec Canadá would be a perfect nba city, as well as Seattle, Baltimore, Vancouver Las Vegas, San Diego, Kansas City, Louisville, Pittsburg or even another team in New York City or specifically a New Jersey team, you could Make arguments for so many places

The Warriors one hurts as a Philly fan cuz they kept all the Philly championships and Wilt Chamberlain and the Raiders were back and forth from Oakland to LA over the years. Sucks but 2/3 of those teams aren’t even originally Oakland. S/O Philly and the Owls lmao
I think the cool thing that this video pointed out is the continuation of the historic trend of NHL franchises being the impetus for places getting NBA teams since the arena is able to be switched easily.
Yeah I get why the primary focus is to expand within america because that's where the organization resides but come on Canada is a big part to the birth and history of the game, Canada deserves another team, I don't want to be 50 by the time Canada gets another team in another 20+ years at the rate of expansion from the last one
The 2 smartest options are Vancouver and Seattle, both had teams taken from them, both would have lots of fans, both are big markets, both are in the actual northwest to help out teams like Minnesota who can now move to a conference which actually makes sense for them to be In , I think there’s 0 debate here, Vegas can come later
Las Vegas has "every single sports team" that there is to have, they're only missing 1 > an NBA team .. (which is why they'll be the perfect location for an NBA expansion team) duh!!
The talent pool in the NBA is currently the strongest it has ever been. In the 2023-24 season, 140 foreign-born players (25%). In contrast, in 1990, there were only 21 foreign-born players (4.5%). The number of American-born players has decreased slightly (17 less), with 421 in 2023-24 compared to 438 in 1990, despite a larger league size (30 teams now versus 27 in 1990). This decline in American-born players is noteworthy, given the significant increase in the US population by 95 million since 1990. The rest of the world produces more talented NBA players, 120 more foreign-born players than in 1990. This suggests the league's overall talent level has grown and could potentially expand to 36 teams.
I sincerely believe the hold-up is that they would have move two Western Conference teams to the Eastern Conference (assuming the two chosen cities are Seattle and Las Vegas). Logically the two teams that would be considered is between Minnesota, Memphis, or New Orleans. Even though New Orleans is technically further East than Minnesota, most of the teams within proximity to the Wolves are East teams, whereas all the Texas teams are West, and they're much closer to New Orleans. So the two chosen teams should be Memphis and Minnesota. Minnesota in the East now would become an immediate Finals contender, and a few Memphis teams in the 2000s/2010s might have spoiled for the Finals. I don't know if the other owners would want that. I think they like the status quo.
We all know how Centre Bell can break players' ears: you only need to look at the last NBA games in there. Montreal is big enough as a market to make it work. Only, the biggest obstacle is the ownership. Sure, much has been made of what made Montreal unattractive to players (horrible weather and taxation; language is not as big of a deal since living in Montreal without knowing French is feasible on a NBA salary, just don't expect to live anywhere in the city) and it will probably force Montreal into the luxury tax, and maybe even first apron...
@@Himmyjewett it was won in 1979 they were the Seattle Supersonics they didn't become the Thunder until 2008 unless you know something I don't where KD won a championship before he joined the Warriors
It wouldn’t physically be the Sonics, but everyone would say it’s the Sonics, because it would be a expansion team, they wouldn’t be getting their history back
The new cities should be Seattle and St. Louis. Seattle is essentially ensured, and St. Louis has atrongly proved itself as a sports city along with being a large dead spot on the map
Most likely, the expansion cities will be Seattle, Las Vegas in the West and probably a toss up with Cincinnati, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Nashville, St.Louis and Montreal as the biggest contenders for a team in the East. (Buffalo won't happen because of how close they are to Toronto and Baltimore won't happen because of DC and Philly). And yes, it will change everything as it currently is in the NBA. Expansion always does. Which is a good thing. The league would get stale if it didn't change some things now and then. Though, I am sure there are a few things we can say we wish would come back. Kansas City and San Diego could eventually get teams again as well. Though, I have a feeling that Memphis is going to want to keep St.Louis and Nashville free if they decide to move out of Memphis, just simply because there is a lot more money in either market if they go there and I know they are going to want to get a new arena in the near future.
While the pool of super stars is only marginally better on a per team basis, the pool of starter caliber talent has increased by at least 5 or 6 times over the past 20 years. Now days, players' prospects for playing time are based more around fit and coaching decisions than actual skill, as the 6th best and 12th best players on any given team are basically the same in talent and skill level. The league has expanded roster sizes to accommodate, and it has also become more lax towards allowing star players "rest", knowing that there is less of a drop off in talent and that it gives more players the minutes needed to show that talent. The overflow of talent is so great that foreign leagues have secured NBA starter level talent much more than ever before, and the league has less interest in giving the youngest and oldest players the minutes and opportunities it once did, forcing many younger players to stay in college or go overseas or play in the G-League, and older players to retire earlier or go overseas, where they once would've been given a bigger role on an NBA team. This proves the league can easily absorb at least two more teams with no noticeable drop off in quality per team.
Im Australian and i can say for sure there is no competition between the NBL and the NBA the truth is we do love basketball but not as much as AFL or Rugby and much more importantly we dont invest money in to sports teams the same as you guys do and thats in any sport to use afl as an example the first every player to sign a million dollar contract was in 2007 and AFL started in 1896 the current highest payed AFL playe makes 1.5 million and NBL players earn around 400 thousand if they're good and i believe the highest paid is on 850 thousand so your are very correct in saying internationally atleast for the NBL there is no competition we just couldn't match the talent and money of the NBA and probably never will we just don't commercialise sports the same as the USA
Adding more teams would be good for high paying players with the new cba. More guys wouldn’t have to take pay cuts and they could also get more opportunity. Plus there would be less super teams. Not to mention I would just be excited to see what kind of names they come up with.

This was a great video and very informative. It is time to see the NBA expand. I would love to see the NBA back in Seattle and in Vegas. The problem I see with having an expansion team in Seattle is the fact that it would take years for the franchise to see any real success and I’m not sure that city can take on or accept a loosing franchise. The fact that there is not any generational players coming out of the draft any time soon as well as the lack of star free agents would leave Seattle as a bottom feeder for many years. Now as for expanding to Vegas… this would be a fantastic for the NBA. Vegas is quickly becoming a sports Meca. I could see plenty of players wanting to play in Vegas. I don’t think it will take very long at all for Vegas team to be successful. The one factor that I can’t see is that Vegas won’t have a team until LeBron James retires. Simply because LeBron cannot own a team and play for another team buried and everybody knows that LeBron Would be the key component to bring Vegas to the NBA. As much as people don’t wanna hear it I can see the NBA, expanding to Vegas and Mexico City before Seattle gets their team back. A team in Mexico City would not have such a high demand for a quick successful team. This would allow the NBA to cross the southern border and start a whole new market. Much like they did and Canada. The demand would not be so high for success considering the people of Mexico City would be happy to watch the game.
I think expansion will be quite good for prospects. Every new team adds roughly 20 thousand new player minutes per year, because teams are too talented at this moment to wait for currently bad young guys to maybe be good. More minutes in general and more bad teams will help get young prospects minutes and opportunity.
For those of you who don't know, the Oakland A's move to Vegas is NOT complete. In fact, they don't have an agreement on an arena. As such, the Oakland A's will be playing in a minor league ballpark in the middle of Sacramento for AT LEAST two seasons.
My suggestion is to bring back the Seattle Supersonic & make a team in Vegas, you add them to the western conference and move Memphis and New Orleans to the east. Honestly this helps move Ja Morant and Zion Williamson to the eastern conference and bolster the conference with top talent. Imagine Ja Morants Grizzlies vs Jason Tatums Celtics in the ECF or a Pelicans vs 76er round 2
It should be seattle and kansas city but it'll be seattle and vegas. I just think we need another team in the heartland, and vegas has enough teams already. They’ll need it sooner than later. It isn’t just “oh cool my city is getting a NBA team” now, it’s also “this team has five max level players and their rookie bench are averaging 17-18 a game when the starter is out.” Like you said, they NEED it.
I like the way you present your personal opinion on the topic here and there. This is a great video. You’re gonna be big one day if you keep at it!
Right. Like this video was shockingly good and well presented
Not sure if you mentioned this, but Vegas seems to be the indefinite home for the In-Season Tournament.
Las Vegas is the HOME of "every single sport" that there is ..
there's only 1 missing > an NBA team ..
Damn what a great and complete video. Keep up the good work dude!
As a Oregonian and Blazers guy, don't let anyone tell you that we aren't just as much fans of the Sonics, and vise versa. Those are the lies of our fan bases, but deep down we all love both teams equally. #BringBackOurSonics #Sternzilla
I've lived in Salem for 23. But, I grew up partly in Washington. I am loyal to the Seattle teams! I want that I-5 rivalry to come back!!!!
Love the background music
What sonic soundtrack is that from again?
I think the logical move would be Vegas and then either Seattle or Vancouver and then move NOLA and Memphis to the east. If they wanted to do something a bit bolder than Mexico City would be a great option as its a HUGE untapped market.
great video breaking down the history of how we got here. shoutout to the pokemon BGM and alchemist beats in the background
This is an amazing first video - keep it up! The doodle drawings are a nice touch. I subscribed.

Take out Montreal and put in Louisville instead
@@dreamcage1801 no
@@Justfrank_0 why not

@@Justfrank_0 I understand that but silver said that it's unlikely that international cities are going to get expanded
So glad I found your channel! Super informative.
Great video, very well done.
This video just earned u a sub. Very well written and spoken. Keep it up more success is on the way!💪🏿
excellent narration and writing. Good job. Also, Go Owls!
Montreal Quebec Canadá would be a perfect nba city, as well as Seattle, Baltimore, Vancouver Las Vegas, San Diego, Kansas City, Louisville, Pittsburg or even another team in New York City or specifically a New Jersey team, you could
Make arguments for so many places
the Nets just moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn because New Jersey didn't give them a new arena. That's the same reason why the Sonics left Seattle for OKC. Seattle has a new arena. Why would they put another team in New Jersey with no new arena?
This was done really well! For you to be so young u were able to put together the history of everything really well! Definitely subbed keep up the good work!
Seattle had their team stolen. Blame goes to Stern for allowing it to happen
As a life long Sonics fan, I partly agree. the NBA is a buisness for the owners, that's how they make their money. The city of Seattle wouldn't give the team a new arena. So, the city of Seattle gets part of the blame.
The Sonic 2 Casino Night music while talking about Vegas. Genius! 😂
Very well put together video man, will be subscribing for more content!
Video is rad!! Killed that. Imo tho Oakland took the A’s and the Warriors from Philly back in the day.
Nice job researching this.
I dont feel bad for oakland! California has like 18 teams or some shit in the 4 major leagues.
glad this video is blowing up bro
Didn’t expect to see so much footage of my Maine Celtics in this vid but it was quite welcomed. Great vid.
Great video with informative insights on the NBA's future!
Absolute banger of an analysis. Great job brother!
I think the cool thing that this video pointed out is the continuation of the historic trend of NHL franchises being the impetus for places getting NBA teams since the arena is able to be switched easily.
Mexico City team would have so much aura.
Sonics v Thunder is going to be an intense feud for certain as well as the return of the i5 rivalry with the Portland Trail Blazers.
didnt think about that... 😮
CANADA NEED A SECOND TEAM. Montreal x Toronto rivalries would feed families man
Yeah I get why the primary focus is to expand within america because that's where the organization resides but come on Canada is a big part to the birth and history of the game, Canada deserves another team, I don't want to be 50 by the time Canada gets another team in another 20+ years at the rate of expansion from the last one
This is great. Keep it up, young man!
Super awesome video man. Well spoken, researched, and informative!!! Subscribed
Imagine if the Sonics come back and win the championship before OKC💀
That'd be peak basketball
The 2 smartest options are Vancouver and Seattle, both had teams taken from them, both would have lots of fans, both are big markets, both are in the actual northwest to help out teams like Minnesota who can now move to a conference which actually makes sense for them to be In , I think there’s 0 debate here, Vegas can come later
Vancouver and Seattle
both had NBA teams in the past
(there's no 2nd chances)
a location that NEVER had an NBA team
would be a FAIR focal point ..
Las Vegas has "every single sports team" that there is to have,
they're only missing 1 > an NBA team ..
(which is why they'll be the perfect location for an NBA expansion team) duh!!
Bro, don't feel bad for Oakland fans. They still have every pro sport locally. They just have to travel 15 minutes further to see it.
This is a great video bro I like how you put everything together 💯🙏🏽💪🏽
I love that you used the Casino Night theme from Sonic 2 for the background music for the Vegas portion of the video
What a great video. No clue how old you are but this video was way past 4 years. You didn’t excellent job, but I am now subscribing.
Ja Morant with Zac Edey JJJ is a better team than ant man Gobert and Conley.... They are much greater team if they stay healthy.
Great first video. I’m going to start using “I don’t have a horse in this fight”

Montreal with an nba team would be sick
We all know how Centre Bell can break players' ears: you only need to look at the last NBA games in there. Montreal is big enough as a market to make it work.
Only, the biggest obstacle is the ownership.
Sure, much has been made of what made Montreal unattractive to players (horrible weather and taxation; language is not as big of a deal since living in Montreal without knowing French is feasible on a NBA salary, just don't expect to live anywhere in the city) and it will probably force Montreal into the luxury tax, and maybe even first apron...
I’m saying, they need to make it happen man
As a Thunder Fan im wishing for Seattle to get a Explanation team. If for all else to end any curse that maybe on them.
there will be NO second chances

It wouldn’t physically be the Sonics, but everyone would say it’s the Sonics, because it would be a expansion team, they wouldn’t be getting their history back
The new cities should be Seattle and St. Louis. Seattle is essentially ensured, and St. Louis has atrongly proved itself as a sports city along with being a large dead spot on the map
is that DOOM in the background? good vid bro👍
Though, I have a feeling that Memphis is going to want to keep St.Louis and Nashville free if they decide to move out of Memphis, just simply because there is a lot more money in either market if they go there and I know they are going to want to get a new arena in the near future.
theyre not going to expand by that much. 32 to match the NFL seattle Vancouver vegas realistically and redefine the conferences and divisions
We need more teams now seriously
We all know its going to be Vegas and Seattle. Adam basically confirmed it in an interview
Well edited/made video I shall say
I still say Louisville needs a team, great basketball market and die hard fans, they deserve something!
I wanna see Mexico and Vegas get a team
👍
Fantastic essay and video, kid! Hope your English teachers are proud 😅
Great video - very well done!
Let's get you to 1,000 subs and monetization, my man. Keep it up!
Adding more teams would be good for high paying players with the new cba. More guys wouldn’t have to take pay cuts and they could also get more opportunity. Plus there would be less super teams. Not to mention I would just be excited to see what kind of names they come up with.
little late, but this is great for your first vid, id reccomend adding text when quoting somebody, and when you cut to yourself, try not to have your script off to the side as it can be pretty noticeable. But seriously, interesting topic and solid editing!
I fw ur videos dawg. Keep it up
This was a great video and very informative.
Seattle, Mexico City, Las Vegas, Vancouver
I want this to happen, so my Wolves get moved to the East
Put a team in Louisville, St. Louis and San Diego too
I think expansion will be quite good for prospects. Every new team adds roughly 20 thousand new player minutes per year, because teams are too talented at this moment to wait for currently bad young guys to maybe be good.
More minutes in general and more bad teams will help get young prospects minutes and opportunity.
The dialog and the durag... you gonna get a lot of "articulate" good shiza young.
For those of you who don't know, the Oakland A's move to Vegas is NOT complete. In fact, they don't have an agreement on an arena. As such, the Oakland A's will be playing in a minor league ballpark in the middle of Sacramento for AT LEAST two seasons.
If they go Seattle and Nevada, what teams are being pushed into the east? Gotta have balance
You only have to move 1 team to the East if you add 2 to the west and Minnesota makes a lot more sense to move than Memphis or New Orleans
great vid bro 👌
Seattle and Louisville would work imo. 2 cities with basketball culture and east/west division
It should be seattle and kansas city but it'll be seattle and vegas. I just think we need another team in the heartland, and vegas has enough teams already. I do think we need two more teams, and I think this will make the play-in more reasonable(unless they make it larger), but im worried it will hamper parity(it probably won't but i am slightly worried)
it will be Kansas City "and" Vegas
Seattle already had an NBA team in the past
(no 2nd chances)
it's another locations turn now,

I really recommend reading the part you are about to say rereading it then just saying it into the camera instead of looking at the script. Other than that you got a future in this RUclips shit my boy. Fire edits, background music, and content. Considering the Raiders moved to Las Vegas and the A's are in the process, is it too far fetched to think that Vegas would be awarded the Sonics licensing and branding? Las Vegas Sonics could be something..
