Great Video! Like how you explain how the "tools" work. So much easier than the documentation. Showing the versatility of Vectorworks.

@evanalexander any tips or video to direct me to on clipping a staircase? I have one that is basically supposed to be sheared at an angle or clipped on either side?

@grahamconsidine8229 Can you share a visual so I can see what you want to build? Hit me up on my website contact area and send me an email, I'll take a look.

Hey Evan, I was hoping you'd cover how to make an extrude solid in top/plan view, but didn't see anything. Got any tips?

@jeremy portillo - once you extrude, it will only be wireframe in top plan view. You can get around this using HYBRID SYMBOLS. Take a look at my video on that - let me know if that answers your question!

@@design.alexander Yeah, but the downside of symbols is having so many different instances. I did figure out that I can convert the extrude to an AEC Auto Hybrid which makes it solid. This is the easiest solution I've found

@3:41 you cut out a cirkel from the rectangle. Is there a way to inverse this 'Clip tool'. So that i can clip everything around it?

@YarindeTV Not sure I'm clear what you are trying to do. Clip tool will cut the bottom most object with the top most object - so adjusting the stacking order (align>bring to Front or Bring to Back) will give you different results. Does that help?

Annnd..... You can Intersect Surface for 2d or Intersect Solids for 3d to just retain what parts share the same space.

How did you open GL, to convert the 3D model into a solid structure please ?

Hi @Junior Louis-Jean Hitting Cmd+Shift+G or Cntl+Shift+G switches you into Open GL. Same combo with W takes you back to wire frame. Use the teapot drop down to adjust OpenGL options.

@@design.alexander Thanks alot sir. I used the teapot drop down and that solved the issue.

Vectorworks es algo confuso, si este software hiciera el corte de los sólidos más fácil sin tanto menú, destronaría a SketchUp, ya que este software es mas fácil de usar el modelado 3D.

Which part of cutting solids confuses you? Have you looked at the clip cube function? Sketchup is great, but I prefer VW.

      @@design.alexander

@@JCCGLOBAL1990 I see your point. The advantage of those adds and subtracts though is that they remain parametric so you can modify them later in time. I've customized my workspace so add solid and subtract solid are in my right click menu. I rarely pull from the top menus. But I understand your point: sketch up is built around speed.
