fishwithjd Arctic Char @ 4:01 ? Looks like it, or possibly dolly varden, who can tell really? Lol I just see the beautiful orange belly, mouth and spots 👌
Dude you got more bites in 30 seconds than I got all season! What the heck did you cure those eggs with!?!? haha I've never seen a salmon absolutely HAMMER eggs like this!
Hey JD love your videos. Thanks for them. I'm new to salmon fishing. I went once years ago by the nimbus dam standing shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of dudes almost getting into fights and it sucked. Any tips on how to get a fish this year without having to go through that again? I keep seeing online to hit the sac with Flying V's
Yeah that's no fun! Well, fishing sucks right now so I wouldn't spend too much time trying...yet. Some guys catch fish off the bank casting heavy spinners below the Freeport Bridge on the East bank
To the people who say they don't bite, as I've always understood it, theses fish don't feed but, will attack eggs or lures in defence of their own eggs or breeding area.
DeltaProMaster Lauj They absolutely eat them. While they are not programmed to eat in freshwater, salmon still do. I think the feeding response is so deep seeded that some "fall off the wagon."
Agree with what fisingwithjd says and I believe it’s also a mechanism designed to enhance the chances of survival of their own progeny - i.e. get rid of the competition’s eggs. I do, however, really like the idea of putting the eggs back into the nest… that would be fantastic!
fishwithjd hey since you're replying, is a salmon ever too old to eat? here in Sheboygan, they swim up the rivers during spawn season and I just caught a about 30lb king and was darker in color. is it still good to eat?
ohsnapzitzmeng The darker they are the worse they are for eating. Hard to say without seeing your fish but I don't eat them unless they are bright silver.
I'm a videographer and I need to try this camera out man my fishing channel is called Michigan mitten fishers need to try this out I need to save up from work lol
Some roe cures can be problematic to smaller fish so I've been told. Don't know if it's true but imagine borax is probably not going to go down too well.
ern the sulfites in some egg cures are said to be bad for smolts though there is very little, if any, data to support that. Not saying it isn't true but no official studies have been conducted. As far as Borax goes, it's a naturally occurring substance and I have never heard of it having any negative impacts on fish.
Fair enough, it's just what I'd heard re small fish (smolts). My only experience with borax is as an ant killer. Mercury, lead, arsenic, etc all occur naturally and, well, the birds aren't falling out of the sky, so I think it's safe to say that cured roe baits cause no significant environmental problems - not even sure if this is what Kristen was inquiring about... Great vid though JD, Kudos! ...will definitely investigate the WaterWolf camera :)
iv fished in near same numbers and mabe had 3 fish all day wow those fish are so agressive .any more than 4lb test line and they would never bit for me PS GREAT GREAT VID THANKS im going to subscribe
Never gets old watching the strikes!
@@FishingJam Right???😀
The best footage I've seen to date on Roe that is! Just amazing and all the different species in one spot....Some great milking on that roe too!
Thanks!!!
You cant tell me ever again that these fish were “striking at the roe to eliminate spawn competition” They looked hungry!
I know, right??
Kings, Steelies, Bulls, Chum, Pinks, Sockeye, Resident Rainbows, all in at once... thats amazing stuff. And almost all species hit the eggs!
Thanks Ian!
fishwithjd Arctic Char @ 4:01 ? Looks like it, or possibly dolly varden, who can tell really? Lol I just see the beautiful orange belly, mouth and spots 👌
Dang those were little steelies?? What mixture!! That’s insane how that big ole buck tried to bite that camera
Dude you got more bites in 30 seconds than I got all season! What the heck did you cure those eggs with!?!? haha I've never seen a salmon absolutely HAMMER eggs like this!
Hahah that is a good cure I must say!
im watching this and i still cant believe it! unreal dude!!
Yeah fun stuff. Thanks!
When your roe is smoking(has a good borax plume) the Spring salmon lose their minds. :)

What part of Alaska is this from?
it explains why we get that bobber tap when they do the drive by hit and spit this video explains a lot
I wish we still had them, in Michigan. like when I was still in high school.
Kings are gone?
just saying it is not like it was.
Got ya. Seems to be the same sad story everywhere!
@@fishwithjd where are these from?
Parker Brothers Plumbing repairs Alaska
Do they actually consume the eggs or just try to put then back in the nest?
DeltaProMaster Lauj They absolutely eat them. While they are not programmed to eat in freshwater, salmon still do. I think the feeding response is so deep seeded that some "fall off the wagon."

Somewhere in Alaska?
Wish the bite was like that more often in Oregon
Yea me too!
What state is this in?
Your vids are aweome
I appreciate that. Thanks!!
I'd like to see the rig and how it is set up!
Mike, just had it on my line, with about 12" leader
Is it a gopro? How is it correcting itself? Foam?
Wow they are aggressive for roe
Yep they sure are!
People still say salmon don't bite😂
Hahahaha...no kidding!!
these fish arent in their complete spawning stage thats why they are biting
True!
thats just so they can keep flossing and not feel bad
go fuck yourself
Great footage. . Those salmons look healthy.. the bite is nothing like that here in California
This has to be in Alaska or BC, yes?
Yes Alaska
Where in alaska!!??? I need this in my life..
When they like saw the bait they just went quick and ate it that leaves me a clue
All the clues you can gather....are good!
Point proven in the first 15 seconds, Excellent Video!
Lucas Cady thanks!!
Is it really that hard to hook them?
omg i wish my area was this highly populated
ohsnapzitzmeng yeah pretty crazy, eh?

which river is this? tons of fish for this time of the year. I thought they just started coming in?
Remote Alaska...
I suggest using a tripod
Kim Caspar Kinda hard to do when the camera is attached to the line and cast with a rod....😀
Obviously, irony does not travel well on youtube. 😉
this is amazing
Ice Pond Thanks!
How do you get footage like this? What camera do you use, how do you rig it, etc...

I usually use Atlas-Mike's Shake-N-Cure
+fishwithjd sed me off video
Fishwithjd, what cure do you use for your eggs?
Atlas-Mike's Shake-N-Cure
fishwithjd Thanks for sharing
Sweet footage!
Thanks!
If only river fishing was that easy.......
Still why no hook tip?
Because I didn't need to hook any more fish. Plus on camera, when you hook up it gets all jerky jerky

Atlas-Mike's Shake-N-Cure
I wish this river ran through my back yard!
Where is this at?
Some look like barely adult salmon other than that one Coho turning red.
Tiffany Welton yes lots of jacks. No coho in there, tho...what you saw was either a sockeye or chum.

I'm a videographer and I need to try this camera out man my fishing channel is called Michigan mitten fishers need to try this out I need to save up from work lol
What if a fish swallows the roe ?
Kristen Batjer the hook point is cut off so they won't get hooked
