Tommy Shaw . . . dude is 67 and can sing like that.
And wonder of wonders, he sings great without Autotune!
Check out Shaw on Daryl Hall’s show. Absolutely fantastic.
Amazing
JY is 71 Chuck is 72 Todd is 51 Lawrence is 64 Ricky is 68. AND THEY ALL ROCK. ONE OF MY FAV BANDS OF ALL TIME.
@@Mudder1310 yes it is
Tommy Shaw’s voice is ageless. Those harmonies are incredible as well.
They should all be shot in the head for what they did to Dennis the young it's not what he did it's what they did they're bastards
I always loved Tommy's work, but man, to still look that good and sing that great after all these years, THAT is some achievement. Band sounds great too.
Tommy has taken care of his voice so well over the years.
True
My brothers name. Pussy.
Great to see Chuck playing along with you guys!! Tommy, you sound fabulous! Awesome EVH tribute from JY!
That was very cool to see Chuck playing with the guys !
Love the "Strange Criminal" animated reference with Lawrence at 1:32. As a proud Canadian, that made me smile!
You mean "A Criminal Mind", right?
@@brianjbarber - you're right! I did mean "A Criminal Mind". I'm getting my Gowan songs mixed up. I think I have to give up my Canadian citizenship now.....
@@robgnaedinger No worries, pal. Strange Animal is also a great song. (spoken as a fellow Canadian).
Haha, strange criminal, that made me laugh! (In a good way, I think there's another video in there somewhere!)
@@brianjbarber I liked that whole album back in the day. Using Peter Gabriel's band at the time.
I noticed the nod to EVH with the guitar James is playing...awesome. I can't wait to see you all again once we can get out and have concerts gain.
@@djb1273 Charvel ran an art series line about 15 years ago based on Eddie's three most popular stripe patterns because Eddie used a Charvel neck when he constructed Frankenstein. The guitar JY is playing here looks like one of those art series guitars.
Something drastically missing from today's music: Wicked harmonies in songs. You guys STILL sound like you did back in the 70s. Great sound!!
Yes indeed!!! You gotta be able to sing and know where the other harmonizers are coming in to, high or low😇☮️
What's missing in today's music are the inventive melodic chord changes, harmonies, and overall good song writing skills.
And no Autotune.
@@jazzjewel1 Yup and we have the PC, multi-culturalist crowd to "thank" for shoving urban pop and (C)rap down and UP everyone's...now and it's just pure garbage.
Theyre gonna have to perform till they die because there ain't shit coming up behind them??!!
Thank you JY for paying homage to Eddie.
My thoughts exactly, @Craig Mead!
Very cool. Thanks jy
yesss
Eddie? You mean from Iron Maiden? UP THE IRONS!!! Or are you talking about Eddie Hazel from Funkadelic?
Good version.
MY GOD! Is it just me??? Or has Tommy *NEVER AGED* in the last *20 YEARS?????*
Have loved your music since the late 70s guys! And you are still rockin' it!
Amen to that!
LOVE it
- Thank You -
STYX
for Putting This Song on RUclips
.
Was never a Styx fan, until I seen them live about 20 years ago. That show changed my mind forever. They are so talented and such great artists live. I have been a huge fan ever since that day.
was it there Return The Paradise tour 1997 , honestly I'm loved STYX from the first time I heard them I own all there album and have DVDs on the way.
Whutt
Saw them Saturday. I’m now a huge fan.
its Todd and Lawrence
@@gracefaith76 ~ 20 years ago would have been 2001. I saw Styx during that tour (2001) also. The best concert I've ever been to...
I will never feel old when I can still listen to STYX.
Tommy still sounds like he's in his 20s!
Hello there 👋❤️ I would be glad to hear from you soon!
Amazing tallent!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!! My favorite STYX song of all time!!
Yesssss
Just as the video finished, "Renegade" came on the radio.
Loved the “homage” to Gowan’s Criminal Minds video
They were doing it before Gowan
Sick drummer! Smooth as silk and perpetually in The Zone 🤘🏽
Great stuff. Tommy is ageless, flawless, and one of the best ever.
Hi
Nice to see Chuck Panozzo play on this. He and John were the ones who kept the beat going solidly.
Amen to that brother !! Good to see Chuck on here. Always and forever a part of Styx.
Where?
It makes my little heart happy to see him perform. I've gone to quite a few of their shows since the first time my step-dad took me to see them in 2009 (I had a tooth pulled the day before their show....what dentist visit?), and when he's there.... it's awesome
Nice Beatle bass, too!
@@BatMite19, it looks like a Hofner Bass but don't know definitively.
OMG, been following Styx since the 70's. You guys are STILL my favorite and the best band in the world. Thank You for giving us music during this pandemic. MORE MORE MORE Please.
Been following Styx lately...wow what a band and body of work. Tommy Shaw's songs are killer!! Love that they included Chuck P and did not cut out current Bass player!! LOVE them all. Todd is on a different planet!!
Is it any wonder these guys are still at it after five decades? They sound as good as they ever did, if not better. My first time seeing them live was in '79 during the Cornerstone tour. I was blown away. I've seen them three times since (hey, I can't afford to follow them on tour or see them as often as I'd like), the last time being in 2017, and they still blow me away. This performance is amazing. Can't wait to see them again!
How does Tommy still have that iconic voice after all these years and all those tours?
They still got it! Great song, this band has been my favorite for many, many years.
Always liked this band, them and Foreigner, Journey (1), my introduction to rock, were always rocking
JY paying tribute to EVH with that axe. Respect.
Great to see Chuck jamming with the boys too.
Awesome job guys.
Sooo cool to see Chuck still with the band ! great video :-)
Sounds great! The video is awesome and very professional.
Been listening to this every day since first came across it. Even prefer it to the original, to be honest. Loved Styx since I was a teenager but living in UK have only seen them once live.
Styx FOREVER. God you guys sound fabulous! Tommy your voice is like fine wine...LOVE IT!
I loved seeing all six of you performing this! I'm glad Chuck got to sing a few bars too!
That breakdown at the end was bad ass!
Styx, Tommy, Todd .... you guys flippin rock man. Flippin love the stuff.
Hello there 👋❤️ I would be glad to hear from you soon!
Oddly I don’t miss Dennis at all. Oh well
Dennis was styx
You can say that about most bands but it is seldom true. It is usually the combination of people that makes it work. You can’t say it was Jimmy page that was led Zepplin. And likewise I don’t believe without Ringo Starr you would have the Beatles. You might attribute writing credits more to one person but as my bowling partner always says “there is no ‘I’ in team”.
Incredible as always. Haven't missed a step or a beat for that matter. Thank you Styx. Go Steelers, from here in Steeler country!!!
Go Steelers. Beat Baltimore
Let's Gooooooo!!!!!
Good to see you JY. We’re buckeyes now. Stay well. Be blest.☦️👩🏻🦳🐾your neighbors cross the street. ken And carla..o yeah, I love this piece👍👏👏
YAYYY
Also peep JY with the shades lol. Very cool 😎
256k views??? What? RUclips broke again, impossible man
Todd...Love the hi-hat work!
I had the utmost respect for Styx. I worked for a concert promoter in Buffalo, I met John Panazzo, Tommy many times and he is an Incredible human being. Dennis and Chuck. I listened to Toronto radio and Gowan was in rotation.
First, I never could understand why artists change the song so drastically from the original. In this case, it sounds like Karaoke. Just a jam. I’m really disappointed. Listening to that stung. Tommy will always be better than the rest of the guys in the current lineup. I’m unsubscribing. The 70’s and 80’s were Styx IMHO. I worked for Van Halen, Ed was a very humble man. The riff was a nice tribute a little late than never. I expected it from T.
I was in high school when this came out. You guys still bring it with all the passion and badassery.
i was a HS senior in mississippi in
81 and saw their Paradise Theater Tour....... what a show!!!
Saw them in San Antonio in 1979!
When you were in high school, Tommy Shaw was only 25 yrs old writing these songs and playing to 60,000 seat arenas.
I've seen Styx many times and they surely are timeless! 70's had the best music 🎶
(Parody of "Too Much Time On My Hands" by Styx)
Yeah, I'm sittin' in my bedroom
Talkin' with friends on Zoom
They got quarantine hairdos
I think I need a shave; human contact I crave
And do whatever I choose
Tell me how much longer till I go crazy
Tell me how much longer till I climb the walls
I'm so tired of snoozin', ain't got nothing to do
And ten ways to do it
Wish I could go cruisin', find a cool place or show
And spend the whole night there
But if I should wander I'll be a criminal
Won't get out from under the county jail
Tell me how much longer I'll have COVID time on my hands
Fighting each day with insanity
I've got COVID time on my hands
Need to get more physical activity
I've got COVID time on my hands
And it's slipping away, slipping away from me
COVID time on my hands
(S-S-S-S-S-Slipping away)
COVID time on my hands
And I won't go to a bar by myself
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands
Now there are two new vaccines
That can solve this world problem, stop people from dying
They made what we need and did it at Warp Speed
You know that shot I am buying
Tell me how much longer till I get immunized
Tell me how much longer till it's deployed
Tell me how much longer I'll have COVID time on my hands
Fighting each day with insanity
I've got COVID time on my hands
Need to get more physical activity
I've got COVID time on my hands
And it's slipping away, slipping away from me
COVID time on my hands
(S-S-S-S-S-Slipping away)
COVID time on my hands
And I won't go to a bar by myself
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands
(S-S-S-S-S-Slipping away)
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands
COVID time on my hands

Chuckie!!! Great to see you guys. Thanks for the tune!
You guys sound GREAT!!!
Haven't left my house for a week, two maybe...they all run together. Thank you guys for some awesome music to pass the time!
What a perfect song for us right now. Thanks!
Holy shit I just became 17(I'm 61) again!!! Thanks Guys for taking me back.....OutSTANDing Job....!!!!!!
Didn't this song come out in 1981?
@@tbiz8459 Yes it did..I just meant it just took me back to when I was 17 ...the first time I heard Styx...but thanks for doing the math..you are a smart one...I see what you where thinking.
If you )one this song you should check out the cornerstone album from 1979!
If only Axel Rose could sing like Tommy Shaw.✌️😮👍
Tommy’s voice is insane!
I love the guitar 🎸 James i kinda have one like that or two 🎸🎤💖⚘💕✨awesome job guy's 😀 😀🙂
WHOA!!!! THANKS GUYS FOR THAT AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tommy is a massively underrated singer!
Amazing! 🤘🏻 love that Eddie stripe guitar too
IKR?
Since Dennis left the albums are horrible.. And the Dennis DeYoung look alike on the keyboards only makes it worse.. grown up and get back together and work making great music again . Ps a long time fan.. You wasted to much time all ready 🤣
I can’t get Fallon and Rudd out of my head on this one.
@Therin Chilnsford Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd, who did a parody of the original music video.
@Therin Chilnsford Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd google them with too much time on my hands.
Lol me too. So funny
Hello there 👋❤️ I would be glad to hear from you soon!
Totally amazing
Missing you so much boys!!! Thank you amazing.. 😍 😍 💯💕 STYX. Tommy Shaw 🎸 👌 💕
TooMuchTimeOnMyHandscellent
Thank you so much. I was feeling really low and you just gave me the best 5 minutes I've had in weeks! ❤
is that the original bassist at 1:54? He looks pretty good!
Yep, that's Chuck. Still kickin'.
Awesome 😎 seen you guys in Vancouver a few years back. Love you guys!!!
One of my All Time Favorite videos! Excited for the new release 6/18!
So. Freakin. AWESOME! Thx Styx!
Love this! What a gift!!
I love that these guys always find a way to include Chuck Panozzo when ever they can. It speaks a lot to their working relationship with each other, their professionalism and a way to honor his previous contributions to Styx as a member of the band. These guys are awesome.
Yes if they can do the same thing with Dennis now all will be good 👍👍
@@bobrowland7086 Then it will be Styx. This isn’t
Good to see Chuck !
@Evil Rev What do you mean you don't like JY? What would we all do without his one totally unmemorable song per album? 😉
@Evil Rev 😂
thank you so much for this !!! you guys will always ROCK !!!
Chuck Panozzo, YES!!!!!!!!
For crying out loud. Give the Dennis issues up - you guys should have reunited for this song. Ugh. Dennis needed. Sorry.
If he had work done one his vocal chords I want that procedure..but we know it’s all natural..he’s still amazing
Who says that you slow down with age..? These guys can STILL ROCK!!!
I agree with those saying Tommy Shaw can still sing. He sounds great
Just like the Stones, 🇬🇧Styx will NEVER stop touring! I have never seen a band that loves to play live more than Styx. I have seen them live at least 25 times beginning in 1978. (Main Event Tour) Can't wait for this virus to be over, so I can see them again. Sidebar: Love the natural hair color! Next tour, forget the hair dye! Love you guys!
😍
Yes yes yes......... too much time on our hands, but Styx helps with music....thank you.
Been listening to you guys since I was a kid. Hearing you guys play live brings a good feeling back to the days when I was young and me and my buddies listened to you guys together. Keep putting out the music. We love it out here.
I see that Todd has a sweet Sonor Phonics collection sitting on the fricking shelf. C'mon Todd..make me an offer!!
Nice editing touches! Not boring like most of these lockdown videos.
Quarantine Anthem!🤘
i see what you did there, Chrissie.....
Thank You
💕 Styx
Love this band!!💕
It’s a great joy in my life the Styx is still rockin’ and sounds so good! 🤙
Unbelievable!!! Perfect!!!
Mr. Shaw, a living legend!! Epic!!
Credit to Gowen here as well. His voice sounds just like it did in the 80's.
What type of vitamins is Tommy taking? Dude never ages.
It’s a combination of great genetics, diet, and exercise. If he didn’t have great genes then it would be more obvious how old he is, but I mean the guy looked 15 when he was 30.
Flintstones vitamins
I TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG, ALL THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS ARE GREAT!!! RAK 3-7
WOW! How can anyone put a thumbs down on this video? It was marvelous!
I am sure that was from Dennis DeYoung.. lol
@@jerzeyguy71 LOL! That's hilarious!
Excellent!! One of my favorite songs growing up😊👍
Yessssssss!!! This was epic boys. More! Moore! Haha.
Styx never ceases to amaze. How about give Dennis a call and have him shred a little vocals for old times sake. The best of times!!!!!
Styx forever!
If you haven't heard this new offering from DDY, you really should: ruclips.net/video/wUzp4FJ0tCM/видео.html
*1:31** Gowan retro-reference is criminally bright*
*MORE BANDS NEED TO KEEP GOING AT LEAST THIS WAY IF NO CONCERTS!*
Fantastic as usual !!
THE THEME OF THE QUARANTINED MASSES
Well Its Christmas day and I get this you-tube "Suggestion". What a present.!Great song! Brings back all those styx concerts we enjoyed here in upstate NY. Hope to see you guys again in 2021 so hurry up Im not getting any younger!1
Gowan is a riot, love these guys. Smoking hot Tommy Shaw.
Bass, no plugged into anything? not really playing? ....Amazing tune. Love STYX
LOL Ought to be the theme song for 2020 for a lot of us. Loved Larry's Criminal Mind video easter egg in there...
Beatle Chuck rules!!
Been a fan since the 70s but still pissed how they screwed Dennis DeYoung-------
Just not the same without him
Styx is not Styx without Dennis DeYoung, just like Journey without Steve Perry is not Journy, or Aerosmith without Steven Tyler
Gowan does a fantastic job though.
