An idea cause brass' exile trigger works like unearth flicker is good but also thinking having ninjutsu as well. So you can do it after dmg step before end of combat to get the any attack/dmg triggers from your beefed up pirate but get them back to recast without the counter.
Anyone else just feel sad like the commanders that come in this precon are below meh? I was looking forward to more pirate legends coming to this set and the ones we got thematically just don’t work. Im looking at either upgrading and rebuilding original brass or dropping black and going malcom//breaches.
I agree with you. The precon doesn't come with many new pirates and neither does the main set, and not many in black or black support. I'm looking at my main pirate deck and it's not getting much of an upgrade in this set. I think the precon is a mess with strategies, with more steal synergies than reanimator. And wasting deck space on equipment frustrated me. Definitely the weakest precon and pirates getting the weakest support. Now as for dropping black I also have a red blue pirate deck that's Malcome Kediss and it has a much better win ratio than grixis pirates. Malcolm and Glint-Horn comboing and stealing wins. It can even pull similar alternate win conditions, dropping Revel in Riches and adding Mechanized Production.
Watching this after now playing the deck im curious to your opinion. I have to say the deck played fantastic out of the box and since uograding I think shes an intresting commander that gets you making intresting choices. I enjoy her immensely
Im glad you're enjoying the deck! I'm curious which route you went in terms of upgrading the precon. I bought two precons, one to keep original and another to scrap and upgrade. For me I feel Admiral Brass, Unsinkable is missing a few pieces to make the reanimation pop! Does it need more mill? More ways to move counters? More reanimation? I can't add everything without slowing the deck. Another thing about the deck is...I haven't seen this commander pop off or have any explosive turns, which I feel is part of commanders charm. Sadly everytime I play the deck with her as the commander I always think "If I was playing the other Brass I would be in a better position, stealing X, Y and Z from my opponents and buffing more pirates than select ones." Not saying the other Brass is "better" she has her flaws too. I'll gladly go into more detail tomorrow, it's getting late for me and I have to go to work in 6 hours hahaha.
This Brass is actually good and has potential to be a cEDH commander. You can use any of the various versions of Entomb and throw either Glint horn or Malcolm to the grave and resurrect them to combo off. Very underestimated commander.
I mean this respectfully...if your goal is to win with Glint-Horn and Malcolm you've added a few steps to already existing strategies, and that reason alone kicks it out of cEDH. Now for casual I like the idea of Entomb and Buried Alive and wish they came in the precon. That along with more options of reanimation.
@@ThePirateCommander True...I rather just play Izzet of Malcolm and Breeches. Which I already do. If I'm winning with Glint Horn. I already have 1 part of my IC Engine in the Command Zone.
Malcom/Vial does this strategy far better. In a turbo grixis shell and there are some that run chunky Naus strategy with H.Broodlord lines and/or NivParun + Curiosity effects.
3:26 if you care about the counter, the deck will not function because it will be too slow. I would play cards to "copy" Admiral Brass e.g. Sakashima of a Thousand Faces.
Agree with you on this. Feels like this entire precon is gambling on its secondary commander to make it work. I'f theres more of a focus on treasures in the precon as a whole than it might work better.
I agree, the secondary commander usually takes the spotlight in recent precons. But im worried it won't be a pirate, not many tribal commander decks are filled with their tribe. And if Brass is our best option it'll need a lot treasure generating, mana ramping spells because if Brass dies once...we'll need 7 mana to get it back 😱
@unamusedrowlett6303 with the precon being revealed I was curious about your opinion on it and some of the new cards revealed. Personally, im a little disappointed, especially in the secondary commander not fitting the theme of the deck but more so supporting the steal strategy of the original Admiral Beckett Brass.
@ThePirateCommander I didn't have that much of a disappointment on these compared to commander masters but I'm still a bit sad by what we got. There's nothing that makes me want to rush to my local card shop and get any of the decks, I'd rather wait till the FOMO is gone and go from there.

Conjurers closet helps remove counters, or retrigger Brass etb, or remove "until end of turn" effects on stolen creatures...
That's not a bad idea. Adds an artifact to your collection if you plan on winning with Hellkite Tyrant.

It's a slow commander to begin with. It's a commander that does alot, and it's not great at what it does.
