Love this project. I've never seen anyone use a rotary cutter as a seam ripper before. Good job!
Thanks. I know it’s a bit scary but It works for me.
I’ve been looking for a pretty Christmas table runner to make. Thank you for this video and very good filming and such good and easy to follow instructions.
Thanks so much! 😊 I’m glad you like It. It is a very fun project to work on.
Very comprehensive Robin, thanks. I find that my head doesn’t wrap around a method of doing something unless I see it.
Me, too, Kelley! I’m a visual learner & have a helluva time with written patterns!
Me too. Some things I’ve been able to learn from a book but crafts don’t always translate with the written word. I need the visual.
Just beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you for adding sparkle to my video watching!
✨✨✨
Robin you sparkle. You are a wonderful teacher.
Thank you Lori. 🦩
Sparkle - Very nice !! Thank you Robin
🦩
I love the way you sparkle on your videos.
Thank you Helen 😊
I was hoping you would show how to put the binding on . I forgot how too and I am having trouble. Your table runner is beautiful thank you for great details.
If you search my channel for binding or look for my quilting techniques playlist I show a few different ways to put on the binding. By machine and by hand.
Nice Sparkly table runner 👍🏻😊
Thank you. 🦩
My fav QAYG tutorial ever!!!
Thank you 🦩
Lots of sparkle in your table runner. Very pretty
Thank you Donna 🦩
Hi Robin!
I’m Diane from Massachusetts so I’m not far away. You’re a great teacher. Thanks for teaching me! I’m definitely making this for the fall.
Hi Diane. I’m down in SW Florida. Not super close but as you mentioned not too far away. I had a lot of fun making this table runner. I hope you enjoy It too.
Love the table runner
Thank you 🦩
Very nice project. Thank you, Robin.
Thank you. It was a fun and quick project.
You are very thorough, I love that! This is beautiful!
Thank you! I want everyone to be successful with their projects. I try to give any tips and tricks that I think of along the way. That way hopefully not many people are waiting for an answer to a question that may have popped up during a middle of the night sewing frenzy. ✂️🧵
Thanks!
You’re very welcome. Thank you 🦩
This is a great scrap buster idea!
Yes! I like that It uses scraps, leftover jelly roll strips, and It can be made for any season just by changing your fabrics.
Totally wonderful! Sparkle!!!!!
🦩
I love the table runner made by someone with such a sparkling personality. See you next time. Hugs. Marion
Thank you 💜
Robin, you were great at sharing the reasons for your decisions…thank you❤
Thank you so much!
Thanks ❤
You're welcome 😊
I love this runner! Thank you for your explanation…..I want to attempt this.
Thank you. It was a fun project. Happy sewing!
Hello Robin, this is great 😁 thank you 💚 Erica x
🦩
Awesome tutorial....many thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
I like this very much, thank you .
Thank you. It was a fun project to work on.
Love the runner.
Thank you. It was fun to sew.
I like things that sparkle as long as none of the glitter comes off.
Yes! Loose glitter drives me crazy.
Love the simplicity of this. Beautiful.
Thank you. It was a fun project.
Such a lovely table runner! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you 🦩
Very BEAUTIFUL table runner.i think I would like 2 make one I love it you explained it soo well Thanks 4 SHARING
Thank you so much! 🦩
Wow very nice ,love your technique❤🐥🙏
Thank you
I love this runner. The ladies at my moms ceramics group call her Sparkle Plenty so I want to make her a sparkly table runner this year.
Oh for sure. Your mom definitely need a sparkly table runner and she can add one of her ceramic pieces.
Lovely project.
Thank you
Great tutorial as always Robin. I love your table runner. Thanks 😊
Thanks Bridget 🦩
I’m not so keen on fabric with metallic sparkle. I feel like it doesn’t wash well. But it does look cool! Nice runner!
Thanks Becky. I haven’t washed any of sparkly fabric so I don’t know how It behaves. I do know that they’re not fun to iron or press.
Absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you. 🦩
Thanks for sharing looks really nice
Thanks June. 🦩
Very pretty! I've been thinking about gifts for sister in laws. These would be perfect! Thanks for showing how to make them. As always great tutorial!
Thanks Sue. Table runners are great gifts. Plus if you use different fabrics you can make the same design for everyone.
I was just looking for a braided quilting design yesterday. We must be on the same wave length. Love the blue flower in the middle. Thank you for reading my mind!
I’m like your phone. I know what you’re searching for 👀. 🤣🤣🤣. I knew I was going to make a QAYG table runner but I didn’t know what design. I saw several braided ones on Pinterest and loved the look. I like that It looks difficult but it’s easy enough for a beginner to sew.
Thanks for another great video! I am making my first bed quilts and am using my stash fabric so that I wouldn't stress over my beginning mistakes. A couple of the fabrics have some silver sparkle. I will find out after the quilts have washed a few times if that was a beginner mistake! 🤣 If the sparkle comes off, it will still look ok. 👍
Congratulations Anna. First quilts are special. Yep, there might be a mistake here or there but they’ll still keep someone snuggly warm.
Robin, this is a lovely idea. I like the silver sparkle instead of the usual gold.
Thank you Cynthia. 🦩
Great video -- I appreciate how much detail you share!
Thank you so much. 🦩
gorgeous. thanks
Thank you!
Wow it sure looks so easy, not a fan of sparkle but for a Christmas Table Runner or Place Mats a great idea for the candles to make the room even more festive.
Thanks for sharing.
I’m not a fan of glitter but a little sparkle is okay.
Sparkle and bright. Beautiful job are you keeping this one Robin?
Thanks Theresa. Nope. It’s going in the shop very soon. I don’t have a table or anywhere else to use a runner. My craft table is the only table in my house 🤣
Thank you. Really useful. I need to see if I have any sparkle fabric in my Xmas stash….
Thank you 🦩
I love it
Thank you 🦩
Love this. I have a question... If I wanted to make placemats would it be easier to do one long runner and cut it down or piece each placemat individually?
Thanks. If you want the center and moving outwards then making individual placemats would be better. If you don’t care about each placemat having a center “eye” then try the long version and trim to size. If you do the long version you would have several placemats that look like either end of my table runner example. Happy sewing!!
I also like sparkly fabric and think your table runner turned out great. Another thing on my long list of things to do! Thank you💕
Thank you. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with a long list of projects.😉
Very pretty! I'm wondering if the lack of backstitch will be problematic, won't the quilting lines unravel on the back? because they're exposed (unlike when piecing where they are enclosed) on the backing.
I’ve made several projects this way with no issues. When adding the next strip the quilting does cross over the precious stitching.. If you’re concerned you can always backstitch at the beginning and end of each piece that’s been added. That’s something I might consider for a bedside quilt. Something that will be washed regularly.
Beautiful!
Thank you 🦩
You really did a great job on this runner... I think I know what I'm going to do with the leftover Christmas jelly roll!! Your sparkle fabric is really pretty!!
Laura, it’s a quick project especially if you have a jelly roll. Happy sewing!!
Thanks Robin... I think this will make a great table runner for any occasion... I'm going to try my hand making one for Halloween 🎃... Then, one for Thanksgiving 🦃... Heck by the time that Christmas 🎄rolls around ..... I'll be a pro at making table runners.... Might even try place mats too!!!! 🤭😅
I'll have to let you know!!!! 🤗🤗
Sounds like a good plan to me. I’ve been mentally designing a scrappy oversized placemat. Maybe I’ll have It out of my head and Into a video by the time you’re ready to move onto placemats 😉
Sounds like a plan to me... 🤭☺️🤭😊
Hi Robin! Love the table runner! Especially the scrappy binding! Your first braided runner? You did a great job! I like the sparkle in some of the fabrics! So festive!!
Thanks Carol. Yes ma’am. My first braided runner. I love how It turned out. I can see It in fun Halloween fabrics too.
How does the fabric with sparkle withstand washing? I always wonder that. I guess it would not matter if I were doing something for a holiday since it would not be washed much.
Rose, I’m not sure. I bought the sparkle fabrics last Christmas and used them in project bags. I’ve never washed It. 🤷♀️
That was a gorgeous Table Runner Robin I love it 😍 and so easy to make👍🏼 not sure about what the code word Sparkles means 🤪
Thank you. The code word or scrappy word of the day let’s me know that you watched the video from beginning to end. It also gives people something to comment. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with a comment besides good job. I like It. It’s become a fun little game for everyone. It’s evolved into a monthly giveaway. If you use the scrappy word in a comment on the first WiP It Wednesday video of the month you’re entered to win one of my fabric postcards.
Hello Robin, this is a very good video. Do you have a downloadable pattern available? I looked in your Etsy shop but did not see anything. Wondering about the size of the strips I need to have
I’m sorry but I don’t have a pattern available for this table runner. It’s a great scrap project. You can use any size strips you’d like. If you want your runner to look even then use the same width strips throughout. If you don’t mind a little unevenness then you can vary the width of your strips. This is a good project for a jelly roll or leftover strips from a jelly roll. I probably wouldn’t go wider than 3” only because you may lose the effect. It would take less strips to make. Have fun!
I have fabric for a table runner but cannot find a good pattern for Star of David anywhere! Still need to get some silver fabric to add some sparkle!
I’m not sure what you’re picturing but I searched for Star of David quilt blocks on Pinterest and several popped up. You might have to design your own table runner.
Part of my fam is Jewish & I found one paper pieced pattern on RUclips. Will continue to search! Thanks, Robin 🤗
Lay them out and take a photo so you remember which piece was where.
That’s a great tip. When I’m working by myself I do take a picture. If It matters to me. I record my videos with my phone which adds steps. For some projects I don’t mind if my fabrics move
😍😍😍😍😍
🦩
Nice project, but you waving your hands around was so distracting 😮
Thank you for the constructive criticism.
