    Truthfully, if your a car washing weekend warrior, you’ll never need a ceramic coating. Waxes have been used for decades and decades with no issues. However most ppl tend to neglect their vehicles so that’s where ceramic coatings come in! It’s all personal preference and your care level for you vehicle.

    Great video and informative. What i will say is, getting a new car is already expensive nowadays. To then add PPF and ceramic coating on top of that. PPF near me is 7K and 2.5K for ceramic coating. Not sure how many people can afford that as you are taking delivery of a new car.

    • @LockettTech
      @LockettTech  2 года назад +2

      Agreed, although $7K must be for full car. You should be able to do a nice full front coverage package for around $2.5K and that is the most important area to protect.

Excited to make the appointment as soon as I pick up my Model Y and the 10% savings just sweetens the deal. The colored PPF is so cool, I had no idea. This seems like an infomercial for an overpriced detail shop. If it's a Tesla, you "obviously" have to PPF it? You kidding me? I have had two Teslas, one with Blue paint, which had neither Ceramic coating not PPF, and worked just fine for four years. Then bought one with Black paint, on which I have put ceramic. No way is PPF an obvious "must". Also, if a shop is charging $15k for a PPF treatment, it should be summarily avoided.

    • @LockettTech

      Tesla paint is horrific. It all depends on if you want to protect your investment and have the means to do so. If not there are definitely cheaper options that will do almost as good of a job.

  • @ebaake
    @ebaake 2 года назад +1

    Love your channel! I can't fathom putting PPF on a car tho. 0 trade in value added, I've traded in multiple cars and never had anyone say anything about small chips and dings, it's expected to wear over time. Also if you are ever in an accident and you have to replace body parts, you'll have to pay to get PPF reinstalled as it is not covered under insurance unless you listed (custom parts installed) when insuring the car. I wish people would stop recommending this for Teslas.

    • @LockettTech
      @LockettTech  2 года назад

      It doesn’t have direct value but absolutely helps to maintain the condition of the car, which impacts its value overall. The paint is so easily chipped and damaged…this helps with that. As you mentioned too it’s can absolutely be replaced after an accident too…you just have to let your insurance company know you added PPF after it’s installed. For most cars I don’t think it’s a must do…for Tesla’s it should be required.

    • @ramongonzalez5049
      @ramongonzalez5049 2 года назад

      If you are in a accident your car is going to lose value. Peoe put ppf on Tesla's because the paint is crap and it chips more than any other car.

    • @ebaake
      @ebaake 2 года назад +3

      @@ramongonzalez5049 that is true as well. I've been told the paint is crap but haven't experienced it first hand or seen it on a recent forum so it's hard to justify spending thousands on a rumor. A professional touch up would be cheaper than PPF once I went to sell it if I thought it was bad enough for concern

      Hey MEL, I’m not RUclips creator but I do own a detailing / PPF business. Ceramic coating won’t protect against rock chips but it does provide EXCELLENT paint protection and makes the washing process way easier. PPF on the other hand will help fend off those pesky rocks while driving on the road and ultimately preserves the factory finish of the paint whilst you’re going about your daily driving activities.
      Typically PPF has always been more geared towered super cars. HOWEVER, over the past few years I’ve noticed a huge influx of inquiries from tesla owners. PPF On the hood and front bumper are the most popular options for obvious reasons ( to protect that huge grill-less bumper from getting chips from rocks)
      Overall, it just boils down to how long you gonna keep your car for? Do you honestly care if a few rocks chip your paint ? Etc. if you plan to keep the car for next 10-20 years then I think PPF is a great option. Otherwise , not worth it. And that’s coming from a business owner who wants people like you buy into this PPF trend
