Hi Timothy, many of the states in the western US are larger states with relatively low populations, also Alaska is huge with a low population. This is why we are less densely populated than Japan. Good job on getting the the largest states and cities, Houston is the fourth city.

I used to be a cross country truck driver. There were times I'd stop and sleep in texas, wake up the next day, drive 11 hours straight, and park for the night and STILL BE IN TEXAS. Its friggin huge! Foreigners are always surprised at the massive amounts of empty space between cities and towns as well. It will take about 17 hours or so to drive from Florida to New York.

When I lived in Montana I was in the most central city and the closest next city was an hour away (driving at about 90-100mph). We would make a day trip to a city an hour and a half away (same speeds) to go shopping at stores we didn't have. When I wanted to visit my family in Oregon it was an 11 hour drive (about 700 miles).

They aren't talked about much mainly because they are mostly dead. Not a joke, it's just the way it is. Mildy interesting story - someone flying between Tokyo and Las Angeles noticed a large chain of islands halfway through the flight. They were the Aluetian islands, part of Alaska. The flight attendant explained that were following the closest route. If you look at a globe, you will see this is true, though it does not seem possible looking at a flat map. Flat maps of long distances are always very distorted and misleading.

To Americans, japan seems SUPER crowded. It's part of the reason that we are so adamant about maintaining personal space here; there's plenty of it to go around, so there's rarely a need to be within a meter of another person unless you're extremely good friends or family with them, except in very crowded cities.
In Japan, since there is so much less space per person, people are more comfortable being very close to others. It also probably helps that Japanese people have a very strong sense of unity and community, and Americans often do not.

Flying is not that cheap. I'd say it's about average from what I have seen (but haven't experienced) in other countries. Budget airlines such as Spirit and Frontier have been growing pretty quickly though so the competition should help to bring prices down across all airlines in the US. Alaska and JetBlue are usually the most expensive in the U.S.. Avoid American airlines if you don't want a terrible experience.

Flying is still very expensive compared to other methods of travel and is usually done for business or occasional vacations by those who can afford it. It is even more expensive since covid. Because of security check-ins times, unreliable scheduling frequently changed on you at the last minute and weather delays it can also take 6-10 hours of your day to take a flight even if only 3 hours of that time is actually in the air. Instead, most people drive everywhere in the U.S., driving is by far the most common and expected transportation mode, including between states and even across country though of course the further you have to go the more tempting air travel becomes. For cross country trips by car covering several states some people choose to swap multiple drivers while the others sleep in the car and thus finish the trip in one long haul. I've personally been on car trips between 13 and 23 hours long, driving nonstop other than restroom breaks and fast food stops, in order to visit other states. Other people may choose to break such a long trip up into two or maybe three days, staying in a hotel someplace overnight to make it slightly less exhausting. Typically those elderly enough to have retired from full-time work are the only folks who have the time to let the trips themselves take longer, the rest of us only have so many vacation days to use in a year and most people do not want to use them all up for long leisurely drives. We're often more interested in spending that extra time at our destination and so will push through the long car trips to get wherever we want to be faster. Also, depending on your starting location, many state-to-state trips cannot be conveniently done by rail since we do not have a lot of high speed rail lines here and even the rail lines we do have often do not interconnect many states or cities directly and trips can require several train changes and circutous routes. As a result travel by rail can often times take far longer than it would to just drive it since our expressway systems are extensive. Again, the more populous an area the more public transportation is feasible, but the further you get from a very large city the more you're going to wish you had a car if you wish to visit and see everything available to you.

Flying is actually pretty expensive since it takes so much gas to get places. You can do multiple layovers between shorter flights to lessen cost, but it also takes forever lol. Roadtrips are very popular, especially if you are 'carpooling' with multiple people and split the gasoline cost.
The US is so large that you can also make a long drive more fun by stopping at random cities and tourist attractions along the way, especially if you are driving through multiple states. RVs or campers are a great option for road trips! We also have trains and tour buses you can take, and sometimes those are cheaper than taking a flight, but it all depends on where you are going, how long you have available for travel, that sort of thing.
If you are going from New York to Florida, for example, that's like 1200 miles or about 1900 km. It's a LONG drive lol. It takes a few days to drive, but a plane ride is about 2-3 hours. If you have an interest in stopping at a few states, you can drive, but if you don't want to devote nearly a week to just driving there and back, it makes more sense to fly lol.
If you wanted to go to California, however, yeah it is farther, but there are so many beautiful states along the way, and it costs a LOAD of cash to fly there, so it just makes more sense to carpool in someone's RV (or rent one) and visit places along the way.

So while a lot of people might drive from state to state a lot of the time, I take the train usually when I go back home. From North Carolina to New york, the train costs me about $300 for a round trip. I had to visit Oklahoma back in june. Because there's no train that runs from North Carolina to Oklahoma, I had to fly. Round trip, that ticket cost me about $450. There is big business on plane tickets in the us. Good video! It's good to get the view of an 'outsider'!
Flying isn't cheap (usually), but it's not too bad; and you can find some really *good* deals if you search. Taking a bus can be pretty inexpensive, but they can take quite a while to get you where you're going, because many of them stop at so *many* places along the way.
I have flown many times (and usually enjoyed it), and have used a bus quite a few times (not so enjoyable because a long trip can take a long time, and often they're packed *very* full - *not* fun!). But I prefer to drive, even for a 500 mile (~900 km.) trip. I can stop whenever *I* want to stop, not according to somebody else's schedule!
About 15 years ago I got the opportunity to travel across the country - I traveled about 4000 miles (~6500 km.) over about 5 weeks. I saw *amazing* sights, met wonderful people and just generally enjoyed the whole experience ... at least partly because I made my own schedule, and went where I wanted, without having to stick to somebody else's route or schedule!
If you get the chance, come visit the U.S. and try to travel around on your own (not on some 'guided trip' on a bus or even by plane) - but bring a friend, 'cause traveling is more fun when you share the experience!
    'Domo arigato' for the video!

Flying isn't very common and mostly used when you don't have other options. I've only been on six separate planes in my life. the first time I was 8 and needed to go home from a family reunion but no one was available to drive me; I had a flight transfer midway through and that was my second plane. I had to take two flights to get to another country and another two to get back. The most common mode of transportation is definitely driving. My family takes a 6 hour drive and back for Christmas every year. We also take that same trip over spring break and summer break. My dad and I go on two ten-hour trips each year. I have a half-hour drive to school. My summer volunteer job is an hour drive away. My town's airport doesn't have any international flights but it always has at least one flight to Atlanta and one to Miami. I live in a college town so it's pretty well populated, 20 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, ten high schools, two malls, 10 shopping centers. Everything is well spaced out and pretty close by but I know that when I was traveling someone apologized because we would be going on a long, 2-hour drive and I thought, just 2 hours, that's nothing? The U.S. i absolutely huge, it takes up about a third of the North American continent and the east coast is about the size of Japan.

Flying is cheaper when you book ahead of time, like months in advance. But usually people drive unless you're literally going to another side of the country. It's generally cheaper to drive unless you have to drive more than 8 hours or so, or if you are planning a vacation 6 months in advance, then you can get cheaper plane tickets than if you booked the flight a week or two in advance.
So whether to fly or drive is sorta case by case. If you have to travel long distance for work, they'll usually pay for you to fly. If you're planning a vacation a long time in advance, it's cheap enough to get tickets. And if driving would take 20 hours or something stupidly long, it may be better (and cheaper) to fly, even on short notice. Other than those, usually you drive.

I just watched your testimony video, and I was amazed! RUclipsrs don't normally share their testimony for everyone to see. Because of this, I got an idea. You should do a reaction video to Wolves At the Gate "Dead Man" and "The Father's Bargain", both their original versions and their acoustic ones from their Reprise EP. You should also do a reaction to Phinehas' "Crowns", the original one and the acoustic one. They are both Christian metal bands. A lot of people in the USA think that metal is evil and dark, but a lot of metal bands talk about Jesus in their music. If you do a video for "Dead Man", read Colossians 2; some of the lyrics are pulled directly from there.

I’m not sure but I think North Korea has more active military people then any other country. From what I understand men and women HAVE to serve. Men have to do 10 years and females have to do seven years … I think.

I remember hearing North Korea has the most active duty female soldiers and is the third largest military in the world.

Hi Timothy, flying is generally used to cross the country. I live in the Midwest, so flying is something I would do if I was going to California, but probably not if I went to the east coast. Also, there's plenty of people in this country who do hate immigrants. The USA has a long history of shutting out immigrants they don't consider white.

If anything, net migration is underestimated because so many illegal immigrants go uncounted.

You could find something similar I'm sure that's marketed specifically towards vegans. Probably easier than checking every ingredient list.

driving and owning a car is a HUGE deal in the united states due to the size of the country and how poor our public transportation is. taking your driver's license test when you turn 16 is almost like a right of passage for us, most high school's will even have a driving class based out of the school for students to take. without a car you're basically stranded so almost everyone learns how to do it.

Flying is expensive most people can’t afford it and everything is pretty much expensive since you are taxed on literally everything. Also yea USA does get lots of immigrants but the American people are not welcoming ..racism has become more of a problem also lots of Americans are angry all the time and lash out at random strangers for no reason ..idk if you heard the term “Karen”
