Hearing it like this only underlines how astonishingly radical this work is. Go and listen to, say, his 2nd piano concerto (really his first actually) - how mannered, balanced and classical it is, then listen to this. Then you get a sense how far he’d travelled. This work could have been written in the 1950s during the era of high modernism.
Wow, this piece is so hauntingly beautiful... I'm no musicologist, but I feel that if one can understand this masterpiece by Beethoven, they can understand how he felt like as a composer limited and restrained by his deafness.
I have been looking ages for a decent performance of beethoven's op.134. Thanks a lot, I simply adore you. This breathtaking, outstanding piece cannot be performed too often. Well done! :D
Style points for the ballsy choice to not use the other 9-footer and instead play twister on the keyboard...maybe the piece is such a difficult feat of coordination that being across the room makes it considerably more difficult.
Probably from IMSLP, the problem is that there we find just old editions, with that ´yellow´ pages. New editions just arrangments made for other , not by Beethoven. imslp.org/wiki/Gro%C3%9Fe_Fuge,_Op.133_(Beethoven,_Ludwig_van)
I agree 💯 I am wretcheted too! If anyone ever glimpse into my soul, it would be completely and utterly terrifying on this terrestrial plain and and ball
...not exactly background music for a dinner party...the chromatic motif brings out a mysterious quality...would have fit right in with Phantom of the Opera...Beethoven was born in the wrong century...;-)
This performance has shaken me time and again. !
A singular composition, to be sure. Nothing like it before or since.

He became deaf rather late in his career so he could hear the amazing compositions he put out but was tormented by it at the end.

Transposing it for piano made it a hell of a lot easier to understand. With the strings, I felt like I was getting seasick.
For real haha
That 'seasick' is the beauty of the work.
It helps me understand difficult music.
The choreography of the 4 hands is increadible.
Really awesome performance I love it
wow, AMAZING performance!!!
Maravilloso!!! me quedo sin palabras
Better than life. I'm still trying to write something like this after forty years.
Einfach nur geil!!!
The counterpoint structure can be listened better than a stringed instrument.

Where can I get the sheet music for this transcription?

it's so beautiful, it's calming my wretched soul.

gathering of emos

superlativi
May I suggest clicking on something by Bach then?
Is this the score they just found in a Philadelphia?
AMEN!!!
extreme
It leaves you so amazed, that the public delays a month to start claping
Does anyone know whose transcription this is?
This is Beethoven's own transcription (clue: op134). He was dissatisfied with the one written at the behest of his publisher and so wrote his own.
Thank you!
Really quite amazing.
RomanticPole Beethoven himself did that.
Not bad, but unfortunately I just finished watching Op133 by the Alban Berg Quartet in 1989, not really a fair perspective.

iirc, Stravinsky said this piece will ALWAYS be contemporary music
I prefer the quarter version but this is also cool
thank you for uploading.

Good performance, poor recording, echo, microphone way too far.

It still sucks 😭
no not really
