11 DAYS VS 40 YEARS
Normally it takes only eleven days to travel from Mount Sinai to the Promise Land. But for the first generation, they would wander in the wilderness for forty years. Deuteronomy 1:2
LONG ENOUGH - MOVE ON
At Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, the new generation, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. It is time to break camp and move on. Deuteronomy 1:6
REFUSED TO GO IN
The first generation rebelled against the Lord your God and refused to go in. Deuteronomy ‭1‬:‭26‬
GOD IS NOT WITH THEM
Then the Lord told me to tell you, “Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies. Deuteronomy ‭1‬:‭42‬
GOD REFUSED TO LISTEN
When you lost the battle because you were in rebellion, you returned and wept before the Lord, but he refused to listen. Deuteronomy ‭1‬:‭45‬
KEY TO WALKING WITH GOD
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6:5
“Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬
