I found your awesome site by accident. I was researching what to do in Vancouver and was lucky to find your site! My family is going to Canada after the 49er vs Seahawks game. You've made me even more excited about going to Canada! Mahalo nui loa!
Omg 😳 I didn’t know Vancouver has such yummy looking food options! Craving a good chowder now 🤤 My hubby and I love your Hawaii vids but your travel vids are so fun to watch too. Thank you for sharing this 😊
Flex and Amanda, the donuts, calm chowder , chicken soup, salmon and cookie looks so yummy. Glad you folks are experiencing the different kinds of food Canada has to offer. My big mistake was not going to Canada when i was stationed at Fort Lewis. My passport would of been my military I.D. But been to pikes alot and ate alot of seafood. Thank you so much for sharing and taking me along on your beautiful adventure.
Use to live in Kits...I'd walk to the market sometimes...Miss Vancouver so much...Remembering the fresh, beautiful produce and flowers at the market and the artisanal breads...
Amanda and Felix, I live an hour and half away from the border. I have visited Granville Island multiple times since the late 80's. I have tried everything there. The places you have visited are some of my favorites. Donuts are donuts, Lee's donuts are exceptional. Felix, your review of the yeast honey doughnut is spot on. My favorite is the french onion soup with the pastry top. Watch out for the seagulls. I lost plenty of good food while eating outside the market. I am happy you enjoyed your experience in Vancouver.
Love that you enjoyed Granville Island Market. So much to explore there. I live here and I’ve never even tried out the aqua bus lol. Can’t wait to see where you’re off to next!! 😊🇨🇦
Nice to come home and get an alert for Amanda &Felix eats! Those donuts look epic. You guys were saying that the donuts you tried at home were oily, the reason is usually the place has over fried the donut and not drip dried for a longer time. Also the type of oil each place uses places a huge factor on how much it stays in the donut. That clam chowder pot pie looked amazing. Salmon and maple syrup that just feels not right lol. FYI Amanda for your acid reflux get some aloe plants not the small ones the big ones and peel the skin. Cut in halves blend it with a cup of water and drink it twice morning and night and you will not have any reflux.
Yum! Fish and chips and Lees Donuts are some of the top picks at Granville Island. Need to try the candied salmon next time. Great vlog. Thanks for sharing.
Are you also going to Vancouver Island? Going there to see Victoria, British Columbia's capital is like stepping into London, England with flower gardens, a Parliment building and drinking tea at the Empress Hotel.
I almost commented at the donut part!! I'm not huge into donuts s but wow! And the clam chowder.. Looked so good! Macaroons beautiful! Finally booked mother daughter trip to Oahu spring break!! Lady M is on the list and many more. Great video!! I was waiting lol 😍
We’ve been to Granville twice & loved it. You know you’ll need a whole day just to review each of the places on the island. Another place in Vancouver is Medina Cafe with excellent breakfast meals & lattes. Great review guys. 🤙
I'm so glad you enjoyed your day at Granville Island!! Lee's donuts are defo my favourite. You chose very well all of your treats. ❤🤍❤ Lucky the seagulls did not try to steal your food 😁 I've been going to G.I. for decades and I have never tried the chowder from the pie place. I will now !! Mahalo.
Nice video! There’s a kiosk in the public market called The Lemon Square. Lemons squares are the only thing they sell and they are incredible! The crust has coconut in it. It’s sweet and tart but the flavour is so well balanced, unlike most lemon squares out there. Too bad you guys missed it. Another shop that’s super popular in the market is Oyama Sausages & Co. They sell many different cured meats, pâté, and sausages all made in house. It’s a five-generation family-based charcuterie business originally from Quebec. At Christmas, the lineup can be over 100 people long any given time. All their cold cuts are excellent but a type of ham called Jambon dos Aimes-man! It will ruin all the hams for you, guaranteed! Sometimes we don’t even bother putting it on bread or anything we just eat it straight up. If you guys ever come back to Vancouver you’ve got to try it.
Very cool. Haven't been to Vancouver since Covid, and it still looks amazing. The Market at Granville Island has some of the best food in town. And I can't wait until I see you guys at Capilano. It is great when you incorporate some of the sightseeing.
Ahhh it's been over a decade since we visited Granville, and I don't think we've tried any of those places! Next time. Thanks for taking us along virtually!
Awesome. I found you guys while researching for my Oahu trip a few weeks ago and now you are in my home town. Welcome and hope u enjoy it. Fish and chips on Granville island fish shack is great. There’s also sake tasting on the island. Mahalo!
Yes, I've been to the Granville Public Market. Always wanted to take the Water Taxi, but we drove there. It was fun, but I'm more of a Pikes Place Market kind of guy. Have been there many, many times and it's just my kind of place. Mahalo and Aloha.
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. You are the most genuine, down to earth people and I look forward to trying some of the “ono grinds” when I visit Oahu!!😊
早安! zao an! Bonjour - Good Day Amanda and Felix. I was born in Asia - Philippines. I lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada more than 45 years. When you are eating a puff pastry baked on bowl or cup with soup, you are eat French or French Canadien style of cooking.
So, So Happy You Got to Granville Island, my favorite Foodie Adventure there!!! Go back in the summer too. You can go eat the best Persian, Indian and other ethnic foods including the best dim sum anywhere. It is a whole different and even more enriching food your in August. That is a great time for Portland and a day trip on the Ferry to Or has Island out of Anacortes, WA too. Vancouver, like the Puget Sound Islands, Whidbey Island are in that Banana Belt so get a third less rain than Seattle. The reason the baked goods are naturally yummy in BC is because the Canadians do not allow preservatives in them. The breads even from the grocery stores start to lose appeal after the third day. South of the border bread lasts two weeks from the chemicals just in the flours. Yum, Yum. There use to be and perhaps still is a great culinary school on Granville that offered incredible multi course lunches for $20. So happy you got to there. Those donuts are epic. Nothing like sitting outside in the summer behind the Market on the channel watching the boats floating by. Smart to do desert first. The filling in those donuts are not out of 5 gallon bucks from a restaurant supply. It is all from scratch and they really know how to fry the different doughs.
You two not only try out food for us, living vicariously, but you touch our memories. The last time I was there, 2016, our son had suffered the third of three back-to-back asthma attacks from a previously undiagnosed condition triggered by his first and only FluMist (I had no idea he had underlying asthma). We wanted to get away as a family, not knowing when he would breathe his last but hoping he would adapt to new controller meds. Unfortunately, the Vancouver trip didn't ease our anxiety. I'd also struggled with stress-induced rash all over my face, neck, and hands; I looked like a freak. I'm also super-picky, so when we arrived at Granville our last day, I was literally afraid to blow my wad on ordering something, only to covet something else and be too full. Finally, after casing the market six-seven times, my husband talked me into trying a bratwurst. The woman at the counter was so mean, she snapped at me to "Hurry up and order!" so - in tears - I turned to my husband to order for me. I felt like an abused child being bullied by a mean mom. Not everyone in Canada is nice. (The bratwurst was delicious though, so worth it.) Luckily, I have previous memories of Granville to draw on, where it was just me and my husband, basically newlyweds, wandering the stalls in the spring, picking up a beautiful artisan-made vase, and enjoying the chowder there. What I mean to say is you two gave both those trips a renewal, showing me it's ok to go with your gut and just try new things, even if I think it's not going to be as good as something else I see farther along the aisle. I should've eaten those donuts, but I thought they'd be basic like store-bought. I also should've tried the pastry-covered chowder - I stood in front of that vendor for what felt like hours. That's why I love watching your videos. You show us how to enjoy life and not stress about what we might miss. Because if we watch you both enjoy, based on your knowledge, experience, and natural affinity as true foodies, we'll never go wrong. Thank you for redeeming that last trip for this mom. PS. Our son James is doing great now. He no longer needs the asthma meds and is working construction (as a data manager) in Capitol Hill.
We're so sorry to hear about your last experience Carol! But we're also happy that your son is better! 🙏 we've been fortunate to have positive experiences and hope to showcase more of the good and delicious side of traveling! We're happy that you enjoy watching us 😊 Mahalo Carol!
It has been a few years since I’ve visited Vancouver and alway paid a visit to Granville Island due to its variety of food & drink… plus the great dock side scenery. Should take a stroll at Stanley Park..Mahalo for your vlog of your travel in the wintry cold months. Hope you both may do more travel in the future… be safe.. Aloha!
Mmmm, that all looked so ono! 🤤 Love pot pies and clam chowder, so that one looked amazing. Maple syrup on everything, and lemon filled donuts...yum! Wish I could find that in Hawaii. (But then travel wouldn't be as interesting, would it! 😆 ) Thanks as always for taking us along on your food adventures. 😍
Wow, we've been to this place and I forgot all about it. What a great place! One other place that I thought was amazing (not foodie type) is Capilano Suspension Bridges. It north of the river and not too far from where you are in Vancouver.
You got all the must eat at the Market. Lee's Donuts, Bon Macaron, a La Mode are the best places there. Even locals like us go there 😁 Vancouver and Seattle are definitely more Salmon than Tuna. Hope you had your Salmon fix.
Just wanted to add that we always ❤ getting your malasadas when we visit your beautiful home 🌴. We have tried Leonard's and Kamehameha bakery. Amanda you said you are not a big donut fan ,but, do you guys have favorite " local" ono bakeries back home?
Thank God it’s Friday AND it’s Foodie Ohana time! The doughnuts and coffee in that cold weather looked so onolicious. Clam chowder pot pie?! What in the culinary world? That looked amazing! Soul hitting goodness 😊 Herbalicious 🪴Looks like you guys are having such a fun time. 🤙🏽🌴🛥️
I was wondering if you were able to try fish&chips while you were in Vancouver? We serve British style fish&chips which are sooo much better than American style fish&chips, which are just nasty fish sticks. I grew up in Honolulu and live in Vancouver now. I will never eat fish sticks in the US again. #LoveYourShows
Be careful. That place have pick picketers. My wallet was taken out of my purse without me noticing it. My purse was tight next to my side. They work in teams to distract you. Don’t let anyone near you. The security there can’t help you be mindful and don’t let your guard down. It ruined our trip and we didn’t get to enjoy anything. Everything looks delicious..
I'm so glad you don't stare at the camera while putting food in your mouth. That really freaks me out. Been to the market but didn't eat much, just walked around. Traveling with someone in a wheelchair limits your travel options.
I found your awesome site by accident. I was researching what to do in Vancouver and was lucky to find your site! My family is going to Canada after the 49er vs Seahawks game. You've made me even more excited about going to Canada! Mahalo nui loa!

Those donuts look amazing 😍 I’d love to go to Canada but not in the winter time 😩 lol it’s way too cold
We heard the summer is amazing! It was definitely really cold this time!
It is warmer here in winter than most places in Canada. Hardly ever snows, but we do get a lot of rain.
Wow, we've been to this place and I forgot all about it. What a great place! One other place that I thought was amazing (not foodie type) is Capilano Suspension Bridges. It north of the river and not too far from where you are in Vancouver.

We go to Canada frequently and also enjoyed Granville, however Robson Street is the best. I found the Turkish kabobs the best I have ever had.
We love Robson!

Haha they're huge!
Be careful. That place have pick picketers. My wallet was taken out of my purse without me noticing it. My purse was tight next to my side. They work in teams to distract you. Wow we didn't know! Mahalo for the tip!
Lee’s is good but it’s gotten very overpriced.
