I warned Santa stealing the Capellan Assault Mech and heavier Heavy Mech factories was a bad idea but he just wouldn't listen. Seriously I think the lore writers of early Battletech outright hated the Capellans. I'm half surprised the Clan return routes didn't include the entire Capellan Confederation. I remember when I set out to either create a custom Mech or Mech variant that was Heavy class, had jump jets, and an all energy weapon loadout making one for the Capellans was the biggest pain because everyone else I could easily create a variant of an existing design, or something in the 70 or 75 ton range but the Capellans I thought had to stick to 65 tons or 60. I had forgotten about the Cataphract though I did eventually create an all energy weapon non-lostech jump jet equipped Cataphract variant.
the lore writers definitely had a thing for having the capellans be the designated punching bag, even though for a wargame you usually want to design all factions to have an excuse to be playable and at war with all the others. But i guess the writers really wanted to make it known their hatred and stereotyping of asian cultures, and somehow thought that "make the underdog lose even more to increasingly powerful and perfect protagonists" was a compelling narrative
Thanks for tuning in dude. Capellans don't struggle from that now, went through the 'mech list the other day. So many good 'mechs are Capellan in design it is ridiculous. Including alot that people thought were from other houses! I struggle with the Cataphract though, I just get a mental block like being presented with a bushwacker
Thanks for listening! I blame the 80's for alot of the bad but also alot of the good writing. The Capellans are on the rise now, being one of the few intact powers after the invasion, dark age and now IlClan. Looking forward to seeing how my panto villians take over the Sphere! For the Chancellor!
@@battletopia I stripped the Autocannon then added four Jump Jets, a Large Laser (Combining the main weapons of the 1X and 2X) add a third forward Medium Laser and three more Heat Sinks. Sure alpha striking the forward weapons builds a ton of heat and it runs a little hot if you run, or jump while firing both main guns but when not jumping its heat Neutral if you fire all the forward Lasers and run so you can manage the heat by not firing everything, and firing a smaller salvo if jumping. Or you can fire the PPC and the Mediums and only generate two extra heat when running. Or if wanting to fire in both directions you can fire all the Mediums, run, and jump for two heat.

I’ll make a quick dirty bomb case and a nuke!” He chuckled and clucked, “This needs my full attention!” It’ll solve all our problems, to hell with the Ares Conventions!” Oh be still my beating Taurian heart, this Capellan speaks our language! @@battletopia Payback sucks when your ancestors took advantage of the First Lord going insane and throwing out the Ares conventions then a few centuries later the descendants of your victims come calling.
@@battletopia Funny thing... When I'm not playing Taurians, I go full FedSuns. I always think it's a bit ironic, since the Taurians hate Davion with passion... Although reading the history, I understand some of that dislike.
