      don't you think tiny sunglasses kind of went out of style for a year? I feel like big sunglasses were in this summer. I'm personally still gonna stick w/ big ones, I always have. I just bought the most adorable vintage vivi westwood devil horn sunglasses and I cannot wait to wear them! I have so many cheap small sunglasses from a couple years back and I basically never wear them, I feel like they only look cute in pics. Big sunglasses don't photograph as great but are more practical.

      And leg and arm warmers too. Especially amongst the youth, they've been big for a while as egirl and cottagecore was kicking off. Although I guess now it's moving into balletcore. But genuinely if anything I thought they were potentially gonna be moving back out of trend with how short some trends have been lately.

      It’s sad cause there is a lot of truth to the trends manifesting in fast fashion reproductions. But one positive thing about this generation is that second hand and thrifting is more common now to get access to different fabrics and pieces to try for cheaper. But yea the really new new styles that has to be created are definitely going to be in those labor factories.

    yes!! the Y2k FruIts type gyaru influence I've been noticing a lot on social media again, along with a resurgence of tumblr styles like soft grunge. I'm also noticing a lot of people talking about Taylor Momsen type grunge/rock/Sleaze looks continuing to grow, and I'm hoping to continue to see exploration with these edgier looks, but along with an increase in more feminine aspects (a sort of more "kinderwhore" feel in a way). I really hope that sustainable fashion continues to grow, and that ethical brands increase their target market base and include more funky designs:)))

    Some things I think will be trendy in 2023: 📂
    I think the current earthy tone grunge a lot of people like, will stick around for a bit bc it seems to suit sooo many people! I also think more ethereal/ other worldly/ astronomical will be in fashion. Lots of blush on the cheeks and futuristic reflective/ sparkly makeup will be in. Longggg hair! Honestly these days every single item has become admirable and worn as a statement. But mostly I think it will be HEAVILY focused on futurism!! Think sci-fi! It’s really going to be fascinating how it evolves in the coming year!

    I like how so many of them were just like "trend prediction? oh idk but I want ____ :D" lmfaoooo it was really sweet and I hope that girl is right that we see more of a push for personal style than trend chasing. Even tho I think having a unique personal style is kinda the trend but everyone is trying as hard as possible to be different so we continue to fracture these genres and make them more and more niche even if they are all actually still basically the same lol. I hope maybe what'll happen is that over these next few years we will come to realize that we need to manually slow down and can't expect these dumbass corps (fashion, social media, all of them) to actually try and respect consumers or the environment and slow things down themselves (which duh they won't just I wish we'd focus less on relying on or pressuring corps and more on detaching from and not buying into their gimmicks and lies)

    Forecasting aside. What vexes me, is that they keep "hoping" for things to come into the mainstream style and lexicon of "this" moment. Yet, they are all associated to fashion school in some way, so why not just wear the sh!t. The beauty of personal style is, it's just that... While trends are directives for those who do not have a personal take on fashion.

SO SMART! i love the way everyone is watching for patterns on the runways, and know what to look for, thinking about what the younger generations are going to be curious about, the way that one person was like thrifting is popular and the older clothes popular in thrift stores have shoulder pads so that means they'll probably come back was so big brain. i know they're literally students learning how to do this but i think it's so cool because i would never think of it

  • @SureJan1969

    4:25 Kay so…The “2010’s fashion” examples are way off. It is more of the hipster, soft grunge, “tumblr fashion”, twee, and a good handful of boring shit (like a peplum top and infinity scarf with skinny jeans and flats), and “ironic” or “random” motifs like moustaches and bacon.
    The images you have of Ashley Tisdale and Brenda Song are from like 2004-2005. Even by 2006-2007 Ashley began wearing things less…bizarre.
    It’s funny, Katie Holmes recently wore an outfit that was VERY true to “y2k fashion” at the iHeartRadio Z100's Jingle Ball and was ROASTED for it. The only part of y2k fashion (And McBling fashion) that actually became trendy again is actually quite a small example of what people wore at the time.
    Just a small rant. Idk why that misconception bothers me, but I’ve seen it around quite a bit. It would be like claiming a trend from 1984-1986 was 90’s fashion.

      Stop renaming our cultures
      And NUMEROUS STYLES from the 80's and other eras are being named styles from a decade to 4 decades later.

    • @SureJan1969
      @SureJan1969 Год назад

      @@yoooohooooo which? Twee? That name comes from the specific type of indie music that was being played in the late 80’s as a softer response to punk. It’s not a new word…Twee is the word that comes from the 80’s….
      Though 80’s twee and 2010’s twee are quite different.
      It’s very common for styles to have revivals throughout time. There is often a new spin on it and referring to it as exactly what it was referred to in its original time period would be a false representation of what is actually being worn. It’s like understanding that dresses from the 1940’s and “80’s does 40’s” are going to have similarities but won’t be exactly the same. The 1980’s saw a revival of both 40’s and 50’s fashion with a twist to reflect the times.
      I don’t see what your issue is there.
      My issue with 2000’s fashion being referred to as 2010’s fashion is that it would be like saying disco was at peak popularity in the 80’s.

    • @SureJan1969
      @SureJan1969 Год назад

      @@lilyjones2368 yeah…I don’t mind some of it but a lot of it is real uninspiring….
      Kind of bland 😅
      I mean minimalism in fashion and lifestyle was huge, beige/white/grey interiors, a lot of the fashion was very like…Office appropriate.
      I guess maybe a response to how maximalist the early 2000’s were but…in quite a boring way. A lot of the stuff that’s still fine is just very basic.
      I don’t see it coming back. It doesn’t make sense. We’re barely 3 years into 2020. I know tiktok micro trends speed things up but I don’t think people are longing for bland at the moment.
