      Yes! I've seen the shirts done in looser crochet start to go out, but lots of people I know have really been embracing crocheted shawls and scarfs. Mind you, it being winter in Canada, but not the coldest part of the year yet might be a bigger factor there.

    We just left 2010s 🥱 the fashion rewind is hitting faster and faster. I’d like to think we’re in a fashion fugue, where all the regressive trends will continue to hodgepodge in on themselves, giving way to new forms of authentic dress for the future. The cycle of inspiration is moving so fast now any and all fashion trends are a huge joke at this point. See all these micro and niche aesthetics being touted as trends, but they fade out into just a blip. Personal style is the real wave.

      @@SkyePhoenix lol we don’t have to remember the 2010’s, the average person not into fashion is still wearing 2010 standards. People into fashion may be 10-15 years into the future, while it takes the general population That long to realize fashion has changed. Skinny Jeans being a prime example. Or how in any decade you still see people hanging on to trends from the prior decade until new styles go mainstream. We’re still technically wearing 2010 fashion now.

    I don’t understand the whole “everybody wears it” sentiment, like there are almost 8k billion of us in the world what unique non seen before item should be wearing then lol, but i understand the fact that some people only wear a certain outfit just because it’s trendy and overly see, as humans we should focus on our personal style and what really has value for us more than just following.

  • @lanorayeee9734

    Many of them say "everyone is wearing..." and "it's so overdone"... But, it depends where you are. I think if I would wear some of those trends in my village hometown, I would probably die...🤣🤣 I still try to make it work to keep my own style and to wear "whatever I want"... But sadly, that's not realistic for most of the trends in this video... I still love some of them (crochet, y2k influence, ballet flats...)

  • @evolalienn
    @evolalienn Год назад +67

    I 10000% believe in the philosophy that nothing can ever truly be out of style these days bc there’s always gonna be at least one person out there that looks phenomenal in a piece/ a trend REALLY suits them or they are able to style things very well.
    We are all unique and thus are bound to look good in something that is “outdated”. To me that adds to the versatility of style and I think that’s ultimately a good thing.
    Also almost anything that is “outdated” or considered “ugly” makes a comeback anyways for the reasons I stated above or because of a single trendsetter with lots of influence (for better or worse).
    Personally I also think that there’s a difference in “I don’t like a piece because I doesn’t look good on me” versus “I have never liked this piece period”.
    In the first phrase there’s a huge personal bias, the second phrase is based on a matter of objective taste which is more reasonable and fair to me.
    Also sometimes a brand/ piece/ trend is just SO good and sometimes the only reason it’s “bad” is because of over-saturation.
    Sometimes things are just timeless and will always be popular and people will dislike it solely bc of its staying power or for the sake of being somewhat “uppity” contrarians in my personal opinion.
    Also I don’t like the notion that people shouldn’t wear what flatters their style/ body/ and vibe simply because it’s not trendy. I know for sure this video was not trying to convey that at all-If anything the complete opposite bc they had a lot of varying opinions but I just wanted to drop that in there anyways bc that’s a reason I see people discredit fashion sometimes/ are intimidated by it.

    I respect all of their tastes, but I'm kinda confused about the concept of like judging how other people dress based on their subjective preferences when fashion should be about like subjective expression of values? Following trends is literally a value for some people and authentic to them. IDK gatekeeping any form of art kinda grinds my gears.

    • @DoriterEater
      @DoriterEater Год назад +12

      I think that there is better way of framing opinions around art "I personally will be moving away from this because Im feeling drawn towards that" not this pretentious tone of like "I dont like how others are doing this." Art generally isn't about you it's for the sake of the artist T-T and can be utillized to express the human collective, doesn't need to be rejected simply because "everyone is doing it."

    • @TheTinKunt
      @TheTinKunt Год назад +4

      So having opinions at all is gatekeeping? These are fashion students ; if they *didnt* have a personal style or opinion they won’t make it far. They had their opinion and backed it up with a reason, that’s perfectly fine. If they came out and said XX is trash and everyone who wears it is trash… now that would be problematic. I would challenge you to a new perspective on this: to appreciate that we have so many different tastes, and that we can discuss them openly in a mature way, without fear of retribution.

    • @DoriterEater

      @@randomuser0483 oi, or you are completely misunderstanding me… I really don’t feel like spelling it out, but my point is it’s ironic to have opinions about how OTHER ppl dress when fashion is about self expression. It’s not about hurting feelings, it’s about how IRONIC it is.

    • @DoriterEater
      @DoriterEater Год назад +2

      @@TheTinKunt You have literally reframed what I said, we are both arguing for the right to individual taste. I am more than accepting of that. I was making a point about the irony of having opinions about how OTHER people express themselves. These people weren’t all that disrespectful, it was just obvious they had to decide what they didn’t like through a filter of what they don’t enjoy on other people. People love to gatekeep individual identities through fashion. They will not respect someone’s self proclaimed identify if their dress is not to their personal standard. I’m distrustful of people that express their opinions in this matter, that’s all.
