- The latest montage of Disco's sayings, including "I've fallen and I can't get up." Disco has a Facebook fan page at / discotheparakeet and you can also find him on Twitter @DiscoParakeet. Check out all of his crazy videos right here on RUclips!
"Good Morning, and I can't get up!" hahaha that's how I feel every morning.
Such a gorgeous bird, though. I have to admit I've been using a few of his choice phrases in my everyday life (with his inflections and everything) without realizing it! He's just that inspirational I guess ;)
He is a very happy bird - we think it's obvious, but his vet also concurs, and says he both physically and emotionally a very healthy bird! :) We're happy to share him - he seems to make so many people a little extra happy, and he certainly isn't harmed by all of the attention, so everyone benefits!
" Good morning, and i cant get up!" I've never related to a bird this much lol.
I have owned many hudgerigars (which Americans call parakeets) over the years (I used to breed them) and the males are amongst the very best talkers and mimics of all parrots.
But Disco is one of the very best I've heard.
You spelled it wrong, it's a B, I just call them budgies!
Dont worry no one will not shake baby biiiiiiiird in the corner ... hahahahahahhaha, and the beat boxing is pretty cool too ! Congrats, he is an amazing parakeet and u are doing a great job teaching him !
I watch disco every morning now before going to work, brightens up the morning for me, so adorable.
He must have been a beacon of light in your home. R.I.P. precious Disco.
Oh Disco, you are so awesome! You're the reason my mom decided to teach me to talk!💞
Why?
Too bad you're a Trump supporter or else I would have subscribed. :-(
@@pollypockets508 Why would you even say that? Lol
He was a chatterbox. Still watching my daily dose of Disco. Miss him. 💗🌈
Me and my new (older) rescue budgie watch Disco daily as I'm "trying" to make the bird more comfortable. He's still really scared of everything. I wish I knew about his background. I have no idea what he's been through. It's been less than 3 months but it feels like it's been longer and we are making very slow progress. It takes a lot of patience and time for them to get settled in, sigh. I know it's well worth it though.
@@ESLteacher62 He will gain trust. Poor thing. I follow quite a few people on Twitter, Instagram... with budgies/parakeets and sometimes a rescue story sneaks in. I can tell you, some of them have gone through horrible things. Some people are not worth of keeping a pet. So your rescue will need its time but it will get better. Feeding him from your hands always helps but I am sure you already know what to do. Keeping my fingers crossed that he/she will form a strong bond with you soon. 🤞❤
Your very lucky to have disco!
We sure are, and it has nothing to do with his talking, either! It is icing on an already VERY sweet cake!
Disco the Parakeet Disco taught my bird to talk. Thanks
Disco the Parakeet has taught my terrified bird to talk!! He flies all around the room but avoids us at all costs. He's terrified of hands.
You’re*
she just teached him very much and his very smart
He speaks very clearly. Unusual for a budgie.
+Sam Not sure it's actually that unusual. What's likely unusual is people taking the time and effort to speak to them in a clear, animated manner, or even bothering to talk to them at all. (And not necessarily kind owners, but the people who breed them in the inhumane way in which many dogs are bred.)
Never shake a baby bird in a corner is sound advice! Disco mixes and matches things like the wise sage he is.
Sam, thats not unusual i had a bird and she speaked pretty clearly
Disco sounds like he's talking in a radio
😇😇🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂Sam 🖤
I love how he talks himself to sleep! What a cutie! I own a 19 month old macaw and I'll just be glad if I can teach him his name- Tiki. It's so fun watching Disco. thanks for posting!
He sits on our hands, shoulders, etc., and we sing to him, chat with him, he drops toys off of his cage for us to retrieve, etc. Those are just two examples, but I mean we simply interact with him for long bits of time, and while we interact with him, we sing and talk, and that includes phrases/songs we'd like him to learn, he loves new phrases, and uses little vocalizations (trills, purrs) to indicate when he likes something and wants us to continues. That's a relatively new thing, actually.
جطحح
I love little Disco. You guys did a tremendous job with him and gave him a great life. It's obvious he was very happy and so so smart! Thanks for sharing him with us! He talks more than I've ever heard any parakeet talk!!! Well done!
That sleep talk!!
" I LIKE IT! LIKE IT! YES I DO! " - Disco
XD
Love his beat boxing
I lost it when he started snoring!! Soooo funny!!! What a cutie!!
Disco really was a chatterbox parakeet, I miss him so much… ❤️🥺
Thank YOU so much! We have had a lot of folks reporting that their birds have learned phrases from listening to Disco - and if that's so, we're delighted! We're just happy he makes people laugh so much - if their pets enjoy him, too, all the better!
Thanks for bringing Disco's videos back. I understand how it was difficult for you look at these videos of Disco for awhile.
I also had a budgie. Bought him in 2008. We got him when he was very young. I was determined to teach him to speak. I repeated lines for hours. After a few months I nearly gave up hope but then it suddenly started out of nowhere. Some of the things he could say were:
"What time is it?"
"Halo" (his name)
"You stink!"
"Parakeet"
"Little parakeet"
"(My husband's name)"
"You are ugly"
And a few other things I don't remember. Don't give up hope when your budgie doesn't talk. My budgie was a male btw.
Me and my husband divorced and I couldn't take Halo with me. But a few weeks ago I learned that he had died cause my husband stood on him in the dark😢. He was a silly bird who prefered walking over flying. His wings were not clipped. Don't know why he was not in his cage that time...
But I was so sad to hear my budgie who was nearly 9 years old had passed away in such a gruesome way😢.
Miss you Halo.
Pierlala. Very sad. Sounds familiar. My mother sat on our budgie. That’s what can happen if they get to comfortable with people.
I miss disco. He was a joy to many globally
I can now die happy. I have known Disco in my life! What a wonderful creature. Thank you for sharing him!
+Disco the Parakeet
I loved him and my mom liked him to.
I ❤️ Disco too
Disco the Parakeet hi
Disco the Parakeet 😘😘😗😘😗
Hey disco! Love your voice!!!
This video (and multiple other videos of Disco) taught/is currently teaching my baby budgie how to talk, so I just wanted to say thank you for that!
That’s awesome! 🥹
Yes, once in a while, LOL - hearing "Bird to your mother!" when you're watching something dramatic can be strange, LOL! Disco was four months when we got him, and was talking three weeks later, but I am a SAH-parent, so I am here (off and on) all day, and can spend a lot of time with him. He has learned a new phrase in ONE day, but I had been able to spend a lot of time that day practicing. We teach him 2 - 4 phrases at a time, and he starts getting them by the third day usually.
My oldest son got Frosty For his 14 the birthday.
It talked, responded to being addressed, knew all its nicknames as well as her own, obeyed my sons various commands even if he'd not ever given them before.
She thought, responded, talked and was loyal all her days.
A great part of our family who we adoringly speak of to the day.2
***** They are super smart little creatures, aren't they?! What a wonderful memory (well, many, many memories, from what it sounds like) for your entire family. :)
Disco the Parakeet how do u make them talk cause I have 2 parakeets
My son was homeschooled and spent his study times with his bird on his desk, slept with his cage next to him, cooked with him on his shoulders... Etc.
he didn't MAKE Frosty talk, she just picked it up being with the family a lot.
She only took commands from my son even though we had 3 other children.
Very precious little bird and cherished years!
I heard from parakeet knowledgeable people that if you have two parakeets, they lavish their attention on only the other bird, resulting in the birds not favoring our company.... Therefore, we got just one parakeet for my son's birthday present... He picked her out.
+Skylar Gaming IAM NOT SURE YOU COULD USE A TAPE RECORDER AND KEEP PLAYING IT NEAR
HIM
We are told a lot of birds just love Disco videos, and some birds even learn to speak from them, which makes us chuckle! Thanks for the kind note - we just uploaded a brand new one today, and I hope Phoenix likes it, as well.
It's not even just because we'd miss his talking (less a matter of hard work, more that we enjoy listening to him), but more because as much as we like animals, we enjoy making sure we're not so overrun with responsibilities that we can't enjoy the pets and the child we already have. It's quality, not quantity - for all of us. Disco's vet has assured us that he does not require a companion as long as we can give him the attention he's already getting, so we will stick with the status quo! :)
Ah, he's like that Energizer Bunny, I'm tellin' you. (Thankfully he naps - he recharges AND he's almost quiet at times when he does... although he does sleep mumble often.)
That snoring sound he does just cracks me up!
Treasure every day with your little Disco. We recently lost our beautiful, clever, talking boy to cancer. He was just 6. Miss him terribly.
Disco's snoring sounds are a real hoot!!
So cute how Disco mumbles away while going to sleep/sleeping. Such a sweet heart. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! I just brought him home after a week of boarding (family vacation), and it's good to hear his voice again, LOL!
LOL...sooo funny! still chattering away while he is trying to nap...seems like he has plenty of things to say and doesn't want his people to miss anything :-) Love you Disco, your the best!
even my bird Spencer loves to listen to Disco!
Birds seem to really love Disco, too! Many even learn from him (and, perhaps unfortunately, start referring to themselves as Disco, LOL!) by watching his videos.
Well its been a pleasure watching your bird. Never knew a parakeet could talk like that, heard it was possible but never heard a parrot do so well even, with so many words in his repertoire......seems quite amazing. I appreciate your time taken to answer me too. Hope you all have a long and happy life together, little ones or no.
Disco is great! Poe is a 4 month old budgie who has been talking for the past month and he loves watching disco. He talks up a storm while listening to this amazing bird!
Aren't you kind, thank you! We like color in our house (so you know Disco fits right in, huh?). Feel free to post a picture of your budgies on Disco's Facebook page - I love seeing everyone's birds.
I find Disco amazing, we breed Budgies in Australia (parakeets) and have hand raised them on occasion. We have a male identical to Disco in color who is my sons pet, down to the blue tail and all. Id love to know your method for teaching Disco how to talk. We currently have an 8 week old girl called Jewel who spends her days doing what she want too, which is usually sitting on someone shoulder babbling in our ear. They are such characters these birds and have each got their own little personalities.
oOCiannaOo How fun that you're breeding them right in their own natural backyard (well, or close to it - I know they aren't found naturally all over your very large country, LOL). Wow, well, as far as our method, we just talk and sing to him all the time, and we use a very animated - silly - tone of voice. We are now pretty clued into cues he gives us so we can figure out what he enjoys (and might consider repeating) and what he doesn't. We still chat with and to him all the time, but as for phrases we choose and throw into the conversation in a more consistent, repeated way, we try to make them things that are funny and that he seems to like listening to. I think starting early helps - isn't it the case that baby budgies (and perhaps many birds and other animals raised with/by their parents) start to mimic their parents' sound around that age? I think that was something our vet and we discussed at one point. Anyway, we got Disco right at about four months of age, but he had also been raised in a lively household where he was right in the middle of things since the day he hatched, so human language was a natural thing to hear - and... mimic? - since day one. And yes, they all have their own personalities, no doubt, just like all animals, human or otherwise. If you ever have pictures you'd like to show us, feel free to do so on one of Disco's other social media pages (RUclips isn't that conducive to that), like Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. I know our family would enjoy seeing pictures or videos (if you enjoy taking them, that is), and I am sure many of his other fans would, too.
My other half is into photography funnily. I will try to find you via Facebook and post some photos soon. Our newest baby is 9 weeks old and already has some sounds she mimics so hopefully one day she will talk. Our older birds, particularly the males, are fantastic at mimicking the the native bird life they hear, particularly other parrots. They also mimic things like the Microwave beeping and the refrigerator when the door is open too long. It is very interesting the sounds they pick up on.
Disco the Parakee
7:00 and ongoing:
Disco: I want to go to sleeep!!
Brain: Nope
Something is wrong with this guy. :D
dtiydr LOL, he does have his typical nap times, but that brain never seems to truly turn off. I can say that at night - once the lights are off and the house is truly quiet - he sleeps, and doesn't sleep-mumble. But during the day, when he naps, he mumbles the entire time, or close to it!
Disco the Parakeet Had a parakeet my self many years ago and he also had some chirp's when he was about to sleep, but Disco is extreme. :) Thanks for the videos, lovely to see him going on parakeets are just so funny social birds.
dtiydr My baby starling does this, except he doesn't know words yet, he's only 4 weeks old! He puts his little head under wing and starts to make a bunch of little weird sounds sometimes. - Our conure likes to talk to him and call him a pretty bird when he does this. She does not nearly have the vocab as this parakeet :P
Zonore So cool. :D
+dtiydr iaM GOING TO BUY YOU ONE ITS ONLY 27 DOLLAR MAN
2:51 What a handsome boy there!
We had a budgie who listened to the radio for hours every day and he repeted the news and weather forecast with lots of different voices.. He was very active, loving and playful. He passed away quietly almost 10 years of age. RIP Tassen 🕊
This bird is a little sweetheart and is very special! I'm glad to have come across these videos of him. :)
He's talented - he's exceptional even for his species - but we also are very careful to enunciate every single thing we teach him, so I think that helps a LOT. I always tell people to "overact" when repeating the phrases/words - it helps the bird mimic the ways things should be said - that could also be part of why he sounds so clear - he's emphasizing all the right syllables, etc.
Well, thanks - we did not expect him to be such a great talker, but he seems to enjoy learning new things to say, and we'd play with and talk to him anyway! Now it's just extra fun coming up with new things to teach him, and we enjoy how much other people have fun with it. :)
I love the way his wing feathers shiver and shake with the effort of his exclamations!
We brought Disco home at four months of age, and we started talking to him right away - and all the time. He started talking about three weeks later Two big things for Disco are that 1) he was hand-raised, so he was very relaxed and tame when we got him and 2) I am a stay-at-home parent, so it's easy for me to make time to play with him and talk to him throughout the day, plus then he has my husband and our daughter talking to him all the time.
I can't wait until my budgie Don Paulo starts talking, first thing I'm teaching him to say: "Hola, Senoritas!" (We have two females with him 😂)
Insomniac Sushi the females won't talk sorry
Penguin Love they can talk,it's just harder to get them to talk
@@penguinlove9240 my females talk you have to spend time with any bird for them to talk
Ours are gonna be named Toke and Doobie, I wanna teach them how to do a siren call in the morning! "Weewoo weewoo weewoo, womp womp womp!!"
I've got to admit, Disco's family certainly interacts with him!! This is wonderful to see, given his ability to just chatter away the way he does.
I just discovered Disco today and I am in love! I've probably been watching for over an hour now! He is so beautiful - such lovely colors, and he just seems like such a happy bird. Thank you for sharing him with us!
That is so hard, I am so sorry. We do treasure Disco, and believe me, I worry about the day you've already experienced.
My Green Cheek Conure loves listening to Disco talk. I think Disco reminds my Conure (Corky) of my moms Budgie, Peepers. Peepers and Corky enjoyed each others company. They sure were buddies! Peepers had crossed over into bird heaven about two years ago. What made it even more sad was that Corky use to look for him from time to time. Thanks for sharing your videos of Disco. He sure is a hoot!! :-)
I talk to my budgies all the time but they never repeat anything. I guess disco talks enough for everyone lol.
Shannon Lee are they males? Only males talk
Penguin Love
Females can too, just more unlikely to. I have female and Male budgies the female mimics cockatiels and kakarikis from the shop and the Male doesn’t mimic anything
@@penguinlove9240 don't tell people that because females do talk mine do one is only 6 months old and she talks better than my 2 year old female and yes both are female have had birds all my life
Thank you for sharing. Disco is remarkable & adorable! My parakeet, Happy, doesn't talk but he loves listening to Disco, when I bring him in my office with me. :D
Wow. I am stunned by how well he speaks! You abviously love him and spend tons of quality time with him. When I can't be with my parakeet "Whistler" I play Disco's videos for him. He hasn't started talking yet, but I will keep working with him. He is amazing. Keep up the great videos! I love them all! THank you!
Thank you - and we sure do, too. I can't imagine his NOT being here, not hearing him... I hope it's many, many years off.
Until then please just keep making and recording many happy memories with Disco to share with all of us :)
Lisa, we wish we could do this - of course, he's too delicate to travel like that, but what we try to do is let doctors offices know about him, psychologists know about him, etc. We hear all the time about what a great stress reliever he is, how he calms anxious children, etc., and while he can't go visit people easily in person, at least his videos are available 24/7 anywhere in the word! :)
He cracks me up. I have six parakeets and they don't say a thing.
@@dorinkleinknecht5864 I kinda thought that was the case, Dorin. I'm not mad at them. LOL They're own little squeaks, chirps, and whistles are delightful.
She really is adorable - I am glad you came to Facebook to show us!
This guy........just makes my day, "nobody puts baby bird in the corner" love it!
Bird to your mother, is my favorite! 🎤
Constant repetition, with a very enthusiastic and animated voice, while we play (and when I say "we," I mean Disco and I, my husband and Disco, my daughter and Disco, all of us at once, etc. - the whole family is involved). We make it all about play - we don't sit and simply repeat stuff to him, it has to be fun. He learns directly from us - not from recordings, not from the TV or radio, etc. Some birds do like to mimic electronic sounds and the like, but he wants live one-on-one attention!
Part of it is just his typical parakeet voice, but also remember he's mimicking us, and that includes my husband, so some things you hear will have a deeper sound to it. He has some great trills and tweets he makes, they are on the other videos. I love those sounds as much as I love the talking.
Disco:Never shake a baby bird in a corner
me: so can I shake him in the middle of the room?
I used to have a budgie when I was a youngster, his name was Jackie, but he didn’t know hardly any words, and I can talk the back legs of a donkey, he was still a beautiful bird though, and I loved him to bits x
"Never shake a baby bird in a corner" , good advice Disco.
Thank you - we think so, too, and actually I am pretty sure he finds himself pretty humorous, as well.
The parrot family really seems to dig music, including when they are making it themselves. :)
Thank you - we can't have him out 24/7, so when he's in, we want him to have a variety of things to play with. Today we're celebrating his 2nd birthday, and he has a shiny new red bell, a little lower in sound than his favorite green bell, LOL!
I watch one a day now... it's like having my own bird for 8 minutes a day.. about all I could handle.
Nahum, Joey and Martha are trying to talk while Mary continues her cute squinty eyes. I'm enjoying Disco too he always makes me smile.
Thank you so much - we have a lot of fun with Disco!
Someday we might get him a companion, but right now the balance is just right. Disco has us for his flock, his vet says he's emotionally and physically healthy, and we'd rather spoil him AND our other two pets AND our daughter with love and attention and time than start stretching ourselves thin by bringing on more pets. I have heard the same thing, Donna, that talkers stop talking; if we couldn't devote as much time to Disco as we can now, we'd lose the talking and get him a companion.
As well as Disco being a star, your videos of him are exceptionally clear, steady and watchable. Two claws up ;-)
Thank you so much - I am so glad you're having fun with his videos. I am hoping to have a few news to upload in the next week or so, but some pesky jury duty may get in the way, LOL!
4:04 Omg, that Yahoo Messenger sound! Nostalgic. Now did it come from a computer or Disco? Lol, I wouldn't be suprised.
Disco the Parakeet family, you are the most creative flock! My husband and I are greately enjoying all the Disco videos and we are playing them to the budgie we are sitting for a friend, Disco gets Jessie to bubble. He says a few standards, "good boy", "good bird", "cute budgie" and lots of kissing noises, but his latest and the proudest for us is "Mad skillz" after the rapper, once he masters that, we'll try teaching him beatboxing.
I love him!
We brought Disco home at four months of age, and we started talking to him right away - and all the time. Two big things for Disco are that 1) he was hand-raised, so he was very relaxed and tame when we got him and 2) I am a stay-at-home parent, so it's easy for me to make time to play with him and talk to him throughout the day, plus then he has my husband and our daughter talking to him all the time. Plus all birds are different! :)
Yes, he absolutely provides running commentary all day! And we DO bust up laughing regularly, believe me. It's especially funny if you have someone in your home who knows nothing about Disco, and then hears him prattling away... you watch the look of "Huh???" go across his face as he wonders what he's hearing, where it's coming from, etc. OR... one time, we had a trainer come for the dog we'd just adopted, and suddenly she says, "Excuse me - is that Disco the Parakeet?!!" Hilarious.
Love his talking we have two birds and they are lovely at chirping but they can't talk like this I love it
I love Disco I think he's awesome
Another awesome video!!! You've brought so much joy into my life! Thanks for sharing! Please give Disco a kiss for me!
What a sweet, talented budgie! It's too bad he has passed away now.
I love Disco, an amazing bird. Smartest bird (talking) I've seen. I wonder if I get my parakeet, will he talk like Disco? At what age does a parakeet start to talk?
So it sounds like both your Mom and Rocky are having a great time - how long have you had Rocky? It's neat that he is able to pick up some phrases, especially if you have had him some time now. We have heard of many birds learning to speak from Disco's videos - it makes us laugh, and we're, of course, glad.
@ElizabettaC123 Thanks for the compliment - you are so welcome, we love sharing Disco!
Beautiful bird. :)
Tsubahi Thank you - his colors are very vivid. (I was going to say "from his head down to his toes," but his toes really are not that impressive, I have to admit.)
I am sorry about your budgie's accident, but glad he is still here to talk about it. (Well, or not talk about it - bad choice of words, I know.) You feel the way about your bird (what is his name, by the way?) the way we'd feel about Disco if he no longer spoke; it's a fun aspect of their personality, but sure ain't everything! :) I am glad you wrote - thank you!
this little featherhead is the most adorable little bird I've ever seen! :D
I don't know how you can continue to exist with Disco in your life, I'd just be constantly falling over giggling all the time as he hangs out being cute, omg
Sir disco is so cute
He is very cute, and I will let him know he's been promoted to "sir." :) He will enjoy hearing both pieces of news, although I suspect he already knows he's cute.
My birds and I enjoy all your videos, Disco! Thank you!!
My dearest budgie Ludger only knows how to say "good morning" and "eat sweetcakes" lol. Disco is one of my favorite budgies besides my own :). Love his lines from Airplane like don't call me Shirley from other videos lol.
DISCO is very cute and awesome budgie
Disco is a great teacher... Our little R2 has learned so many phrases from him! He asks to watch daily lol!
I Love Disco!! He is so sweet and talented. Congratulations for teaching im!
"him" of course.
