Wow, I can't even recognize it, but I grew up in that big greenish building to the right of the little A-frame red house. It was called the Stonehearth Inn back then. My parents ran a restaurant, gift shop, and then we had rooms to stay in along the river so yeah, that used to be three stories… We used to wait for the bus at that little post office. I'm glad to see it's still standing. My folks just got power in Hendersonville, hopefully it'll spread quickly out to the Gap.

The national guard could of been called in and had a temporary bridge in a day.
Yes Bailey bridges it's basically a bridge on treds that opens up ..haven't seen any used

My tears and prayers for the people of NC who got impacted this Helene ...... so Sad....
That's one thing that I noticed just like God says, love your neighbor. we help each other here in the south when something like this happens. most of my neighborhood was lucky and didn't get much water but our power was out for almost a week. and the love and support that the majority of people showed each other was beautiful. and we actually got to spend quality time together, without screens distracting us. We have gotten too dependent on technology and the government.
Why aren't the military there setting up their quick bridges?
They're off killing folks in foreign countries.
82nd was ordered to stand down, Ft Brag has mobile tent cities with everything needed but we don't use it on US citizens..

The Sea Bees can have a portable bridge deck spanning that gap in place in a bout a day if the current administration would get off the beach and away from the fund raising.
Why is there no government help already laying plans on how to start fixing these roads. Mostly all that are seen are the wonderful volunteers help with the devastation in NC. PLEASE help them make sense of this.

Symptoms will probably start coming up in a couple of months. Christmas will be especially hard. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.❤️

Rebuilding in places known for catastrophic devastation is Mother Nature's way of thinning the herd.
It's been OVER 100 years since a storm like this came through. Things like this can happen anywhere on the planet, so where do you suggest 7bil+ people live?
Where is there that has no natural disaster? What an inane comment. There were rivers coming off the mountains where no river existed. There was flooding higher than normal flooding.
Especially when nature is manipulated.............

It says in the video it was department of transportation and firefighters. Why does it matter?
The video literally said the bridge was built by DOT and Kannapolis fire crews.
