Have had the kind of boss before - they're impossible to work for because what they want changes from hour to hour and your job is literally to "read their mind" which changes frequently.
I don't think I've seen any reactors that went in as blind as these two did. The guessing about how zombies might be involved was pure gold. That was amazing. 😊 ETA: There's also a little visual thing that's kind of cool when Tendo fully realizes that he doesn't need to go to work anymore that I've seen people point out on other RUclips reactions. The first half of the episode has black letterbox bars, but when Tendo's running from the horde on the roof, just as full colour comes rushing back the black bars rip off as well, like a finish line tape. 😁
@@xenobazillaI think they just weren’t sure if there would be literal zombies, or if the title was just referring to how exploitative corporations turn their workers into metaphorical “zombies”. Not that they thought ZOM meant anything else :)
The big reason why I can forgive the delay of episodes is the fact that this is a new studio and their first own anime. They did some helping on other anime, but that's their first own project. So cutting them some slack seems right. Plus I'd rather get a good animated episode with delays than a bad animated episode on schedule.
Oh yeah, this anime. Solid ep 1, gotta say. And Caleb, IMO it's not about not being able to handle the transition to a lower-paying job or even the new environment. It's about not having enough brain juice at the end of the day to start looking for what's available out there. Also, had experience with a small company that had a lot of the same patterns as this one, though the work hours weren't quite as bad. Best part? It wasn't because of greed or malice on the boss's part, it was fear and insecurity.
I really love this anime so far it’s super fun and artistic and it’s handled really well, it’s hard to make something comedic and scary without taking away from either aspect, but Zom100 is pretty good at balancing it as the episodes go on. Great fun
Every good zombie story uses zombies as a metaphor for something. This series uses zombies as a metaphor for office drones. People who do nothing but work 80 hours a week just because society expects them to. People who have no love or joy or desire . This series is an extremely fun and hyper zombie satire story. About living your best life in the most insane circumstances lol
This first episode hits so hard. Seeing Tendo gradually becoming more and more depressed and beaten down. The one thing that resonated with me was his thought of "I can't quit. If I do, it'll inconvenience my coworkers." I've felt like that with shitty jobs I've worked, where I feel like I couldn't leave because all my workload would be shoveled onto my coworkers rather than management hiring more people to take over. An old coworker of mine once said to me "Everyone starts a job like Spongebob but eventually becomes Squidward".
Crazy work story: I had a seasonal job where the job was to finish it. It didn't matter who many hours you put in consecutively. Most of my shifts were 16 hours long in an open warehouse in November and December. I had one that was 34 hours. After the 34 hour shift, I was severely ill and eventually needed surgery to correct the damage. I was fired because my boss caught me being frustrated about adding 2 more hours to the 32 I'd already worked, in a way which reduced the quality of the work done in the long shift.
Man, I wish Skip and Loafer would've gotten more love in the poll, especially considering they'd go so deep in the discussions for it, but this should be quite fun too. Let's just hope that the show actually finishes before these guys catch up to it xD
Skip and Loafer really feels like something they'd enjoy, so here's hoping that, if it never wins on a poll, they'll pick it up to fill one of the slots they save to check out anime of their own choice. Would love to rewatch it with them!
They do have worker unions in Japan (ignore the outdated stereotypes about Japan), it's actually pretty usual and normal to have unions. The company portrayed here is a type of companies that are called a Black company ブラック企業 (burakku kigyō) or as they translated "exploitative company" which are not that popular even in Japan and definitely not the norm
I felt so bad for him losing his first love. You could see how badly it hurt him, probably as bad as hearing her getting screwed by the CEO in the office.
from Japan It has been decided that this anime will be discontinued midway through. The broadcast schedule for episodes 10 to 12 has not been determined since the series was suspended after episode 9.
I have about a decade of working here in Japan, and I can tell you, the worst part isn't the bullshit salary, unpaid overwork or anything like that, the worst part of all of it is the emotional manipulation, gaslighting and harassment. Getting fired would be a blessing, to be honest, but because of how the law that supposedly are in place to protect workers work in Japan, people CANNOT get fired. It is practically imposible to get someone fired. So what companies do is, they make the life of that person a living hell, so that they either renounce by themselves or kill themselves to open the post.
not gonna lie i quit my job a couple days ago because i didnt realize i was being abused no lunch breaks unpaid work hours etc... am trying to see if i can use legal action against the company currently oh ya forgot i was suppose to get 2 15 mins breaks a day worked their 8 months only got 7 breaks in total
5:45 They're not in a relationship per se, but she is the only thing making his life worth living and she's basically being screwed right in front of him. It's almost as bad as NTR.
This first episode was defiitely worth the reaction, especially because they were so blind. Cant really say that for the rest of the show, so I'll probably gonna skip the rest of the reactions. Actually, I started watching gakkou gurashi in the last days-now THAT's a zombie anime I would love a reaction too.
I myself dropped the show around halfway on episode 2,because it was pretty noticible drop in the animation quality. I don't regret it,since the show is having delays left and right now
I hate this show for the simple reason that everything this first episode criticized was done to its animators and other staff. Can't even find it in myself to watch it beyond episode 2. Edit: I hope the guy in the comments is right and I'm wrong.
I've heard that it's a new studio made by people who experienced this form of exploitation. The rumor is that the delays in productions are due to studio not exploiting their workers. And you can see the animation quality raising in episodes after the delays.
Unless we have absolute certainty of the truth behind accusations, It's probably not wise to levy judgement on a show itself. Art being separate from artist and all that.
Honestly, this anime sort of fell off around the halfway mark, having nice animation is nice but there really isn't anything else to it. I actually forgot I stopped watching this till the bros uploaded their reaction today.

27:05 What's hilarious is that Netflix released a Live Action for Zom100 at the same time as the anime.
The live action as per usual is garbage so not much to look into there.
