Amazing reaction Sir. I loved it when you said "I refuse to take any of what he's saying at face value." That is how you listen to Watsky my friend.

I think the 8 year old girl and 70 year old with failing kidneys means that each one of us contains several versions of ourselves. Despite his mother being middle aged, the girl she was at 8 years old is still inside her somewhere. And even though Watsky doesn’t have kids (as far as I know), he’s saying that his future son will eventually grow up to be that old man with failing kidneys.

And the next line about living in a house made of each other because your life is intertwined with those around you as well their(and your) past selves. All those past and present selves create the foundations and walls of the house through their actions.

Watsky's poetry is amazing on its own. When he puts it to a beat is when people recognize his ability.

Watsky started with a massive lisp and started doing spoken word poetry as a therapy for his lisp. so he learned how to combine words in crazy ways super young. then he put a beat to that spoken word. enter Watsky.

The talk toward the end about Watsky not being to type who is just putting something out just to get something sold just made me think of one of my favorite lines from “f*ck an emcee name” which was “Here lies a fine emcee who grasps the fact that these aren’t circus acts it’s rap to make you think and and” love the detail of this reaction, honestly was opened a new perspective on a number of the lines

I like to think in this particular instance, he’s not talking to anyone in particular. Hes talking to anyone willing to listen. Anyone willing to break down what he’s saying. Because usually, he’s speaking to a particular group or type of person, giving them ideas or thoughts to talk about. Where as, in this one, its generalized to help anyone listening, that life or whatever you heard, dsnt matter. That some parts are not pretty and thats ok. That we all need to just say who cares, sometimes.

Your Goddamn right. I took care of my Grandma, no one else. I handled that insurance claim, no one else. I even rocked that crowd at that forgettable rave for an hour some times, no one else. I did this. No, I wasn’t the President or the Fortune 500 CEO, but I have that audacity to think I matter… and the redeeming part is that even in my unfathomable insignificance in relation to the universe… others agree with me.

My say on "I have a blunt wrapped full of complement's and I'm burning it" would be more of accepting the complement and running with it. Carry the complement in hand to the top. smoke as to inhale, as to accept, as to taking what others have said about me and canceling out the demons that are made within. That's my take. Love your videos. take care!

Start of the song “there’s seven billion forty six million people on the planet and most of us have the audacity to think we matter.” 2 minutes later he says forty seven million…

I think the concert of what matters is subjective. If you love something it matters to you. If you love someone they matter. The concept of matter is something we create and is completely subjective. If you love what you do and who you're with I feel like you will not be as critical of the meaning of life
