    You are so brave to speak on the this and I applaud you. The vultures will come out and criticize. But this is what we as Christian’s are called to do. And yes our Faith should be immersed in every aspect of our lives. Public school, which takes almost 8 hrs out of our children waking hours completely separates and disconnects them from faith. It’s not enough to go on Sunday, it needs to be weaved through every daily task, interaction, perspective, and education. If we as Christians send our kids to secular schools, their faith will be watered down and their conviction to the Holy Spirit will be weakened to the pressures and distractions of this world. Myself, as a product of the public school system, I was a lukewarm Christian, and we know what Jesus says about lukewarm faith. As a woman in my 30’s I am trying to undue all of the secular theology that was ingrained in me as a youth. I used be a proud liberal and think that people who cared about the world should be progressive. And now I see how dangerous that road has become. People think they are finding their “true identity” but are more lost and unhappy than ever. The teens today are so confused because their mental health struggles are celebrated as diversity rather than addressed and treated. I had to fight for my faith, and seek out truth to finally remove the blinders from my eyes. Not all people get there, and they walk through life not knowing the true love of Christ. I am now beginning my homeschool journey with my 3rd grader and pre-k. I am excited and nervous and all the doubts in my ability creep up, but I know with certainty I am doing right by the Lord and my children will be far better off for it. Thank you for your ministry, we are so grateful to other like-minded moms like you ❤️

      Thank you so much. My story is so much like yours. Although I was never liberal, I was definitely a lukewarm Christian trying to stay afloat in public school. It was very difficult and I regret so many of my decisions from those years. I hope this video reaches those who need it, and need to hear the truth about education.

    It’s so scary what was discussed at the last NEA conference, and what they publicly state! I’m in CA and they just held an MTSS (which is the nationwide framework) conference where it was soaked in CRT, anti-racism (which is in itself a manipulative word), and anti-police rhetoric. A. Fitzgerald stated that UDL is Anti-racist. Jacqueline Sanderline stated that “academics is no longer the goal”. Additionally, the supplemental material in CA is written by teachers but also by GLSEN, Teaching Tolerance, and Facing History and more. So you are spot on about NEA’s statement and their lack of neutrality. It starts from the top and works it way down. There was just so much that I’ve uncovered because my husband does not believe it’s happening in our “conservative” school district. It’s happening…every where. Homeschool on sojourners, thru Christian discipleship 🙏🏼

    We tried public school, it wasn't for us. The things they are teaching in public schools now is very much against what the Bible says. I've seen teachers with pride flags and other political things in their classrooms, that's not for them to teach or influence our children. Public schools teach to pass their testing, they do not educate and teach for life/future/careers. Your videos have been so encouraging and comforting to me. I was not raised in a Christian family and am trying my best to raise my children to love Jesus and follow His ways and not the ways of this scary, sad, world. Keep it up and I love these "hard conversations", it's needed and as we know we will be persecuted for sharing our faith and following God's word.

    Yes!! World view is the foundation on which we build all of our beliefs, values, and decisions. It's not just public (government) schools that are indoctrinating students in a humanist ideology -- "Christian" private schools are doing the same thing. We must be on our guard, watching for ideas that are unbiblical, and giving our children the critical thinking skills to recognize and reject those unbiblical ideas.

    Absolutely agree! I was a former Public Educator as well. Not only was it a secular, humanist view taught, but I witnessed full-on Marxist indoctrination. Glorification of not only humanism, but of Marx himself and an ideology that has literally led to the MURDER of over 100 MILLION precious people!!! When I considered my own experiences and saw what some others were teaching, I knew I could not bring myself to send my kids through public schooling. Long story short, I resigned to stay home with my babies, and in time felt the Lord called me to Homeschool my children (which in all honesty, I initially though was a bit weird - but I was SO wrong!!! The Ed System is indoctrinating teachers to stereotype and hate anything but their biased system... and boy did they hate it when Homeschoolers transfered in to graduate and knew more than their students! It's such a messed up system. I thank God we're out!).
    I will say, Homeschooling my four children in different grades is more challenging in some ways than a high school classroom of 40+ students... BUT it has been a tremendous BLESSING for our family and SO MUCH MORE REWARDING!!! BTW you do not need to have previous teaching experience - you started teaching your children the day they were born! God built you for this!!! 100% worth it!!! 🎉

    Great video! And love the testimony of family worship, we started that in our home this year and are loving it. “We allow no separation to grow up between the intellectual and ‘spiritual’ life of children, but teach them that the Divine Spirit has constant access to their spirits, and is their Continual Helper in all the interests, duties and joys of life.” - this is one of my absolute favorite Charlotte Mason quotes. Education is continual, and everything in our life is spiritual - there is no neutral.

My heart always broke when there was something I wanted to say or reflect upon, but couldn't. Now in my home we make sure to start and end the day with God time and prayer, as well as making sure everything we are teaching is a reflection of God and His Word. My 17 yr old is getting into some other worldview readings so we can work together to prepare him for life that he has been and will continue to see in our world.

    As Orthodox Christians we do not use "Christian" curriculum. I have a much easier time taking secular homeschool curricula (not the same as public school curricula) and adding in or taking out information. It is a skill I am also teaching my children. Their love of learning is amazing and they are able to apply their faith in all they do.

    Hi Mandy. Thank you for an interesting video. I must admit, I have some reservations. My biggest hesitation stems from the fact that there is no all-conforming Christian worldview. I assume that on basic, important doctrine, we would agree. I'm thinking things like the deity of Christ and the existence of the Triune God. You know, basic Nicean creed stuff.
    But much of what I find in Christian homeschool curriculums reaches far beyond that. There's a failure to realize that the Bible is a hard book with lots of unclear passages and just straight up fails to address directly many of the questions we have. Christians of good faith reading the same scriptures have come to different conclusions on many of these secondary issues over the centuries.
    Many Christian curriculums claim to have a "Biblical worldview" but really what they are promoting is their interpretation of the scripture.
    I'm also uncomfortable with the bundling of "Biblical Christianity" with ideas that are nowhere in the Bible, like the ideas of American exceptionalism or free market capitalism. I totally understand that arguments can be made from Scripture for these things, but many can be made against them, as well.
    (Everyone's a Biblical literalist until you get to the part where we sell all we have and give it to the poor.)
    Also on the point of confusing your children, I find trying to untangle troubling parts of Christian curriculum much more confusing to my children than explaining things in "secular" curriculum.
    It seems much more important to me to explore these ideas with my children (in an age appropriate way of course) and talk about why we don't agree with some things or why someone else might hold a different view than ours.
    Having been raised in a pretty conservative home and community, I've seen so many of my friends who were similarly raised fall away from faith entirely. Not because of the secularism of the world, but becuase they weren't allowed to ask any questions and as soon as they started to doubt some of the "right" answers they had been equipped with, the whole thing fell apart.
    I sincerely hope this response is received in the spirit is intended in. It is obvious that you care deeply about your viewers and have a sincere desire to see them thrive in raising Godly children.
    I share only to shed a little light on why a sincere Christian would seek "neutral" or "secular" curriculum.
    Be blessed.

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  2 года назад +9

      Hey Stephanie!
      First, Im glad you would affirm core doctrinal issues such as those affirmed in the Nicene Creed. I also completely agree that there are of COURSE many different denominational differences out there. What I have not found are many curriculums that push those denominational differences. Most stick to those core doctrinal beliefs. For example, we happened to be Baptists and hold to believer's baptism, or "credo-baptism". However, we have not had a problem in the past using curriculum from Canon Press who happen to be Presbyterian, and hold to infant or "pedo-baptism". The reason why is because they don't push that in their curriculum. We also happened to hold to Reformed Theology, so we look for reformed curriculum as much as possible. But if Reformed is not your thing, there is plenty of non-reformed curriculum out there.
      Second, I would like to make the point that no Christian Curriculum is perfect. There are plenty of different curriculums out there, some great some not so great. You simply must find what suits your families beliefs best, while of course holding to those core doctrines as you stated (or else it would not be in fact Christian). You make the point that these curriculums are promoting "their interpretation of scripture." This seems over generalized. You also do not give any specific examples. However, my question would be: if their interpretation is wrong, then what would be the "correct" interpretation? How do do you know your personal "interpretation" is "right"? The answer would be what has been settled by simple reading of the scripture, what your Pastor and Church teaches, sound exegesis and hermeneutic, centuries of church history, and though not authoritative, what has been settled and agreed upon by those same creeds, confessions, and catechisms that you mention. Further, if these differences of interpretation are on secondary issues, then it shouldn't be a problem anyway (just like we mentioned on the issue of Baptism).
      Third, we reject the idea that the Bible teaches "American Exceptionalism" or "free market capitalism". However, God loves nations (we are after all commanded to "make disciples of all nations...Mat. 28:18-20). We should love our nation, enough to make disciples of it, just as we love our neighbors. However, what the Bible does NOT teach is socialism, which seems to be the popular thing these days. Also, you are misrepresenting a verse pertaining to what Jesus told the "rich ruler" in Mark 10 and Luke 18. You mention the "part where WE sell all WE have." There is not once in the New Testament where Jesus tells ALL Christians to "sell all we have". He only says this directly to the rich ruler, obviously because Jesus was teaching that he was unrepentant and that money was more important to him than Christ. In fact, also in Luke, Jesus meets Zacchaeus, who is also described as being "rich", but who was generous and repented of his wrongdoing. Jesus does not tell him to sell anything, in fact Jesus tells the man He is staying at his house.
      Fourth, I also disagree with your suggestion that it is harder to explain Christian curriculum to Christian children than secular curriculum. I don't know what you mean by "troubling parts". Again, you are not giving specifics, so I can only guess what you mean. But if you hold to a Biblical worldview, then I don't see how this would be a problem. What would be a problem, is trying to explain to them why it says in the secular science book that we came from monkeys, when the Bible says God created Adam from the dirt. Or when the science book says the universe was created by the "big bang" when the Bible says God spoke it into existence. If you really want to confuse your children, that would be the best way to do it. If your problem is with creation vs evolution for example, then your problem is not with Christian curriculum, but with the Bible itself. A good resource I recommend for these types of issues would be Answers in Genesis. They have an amazing staff of Christian scientists (yes real scientists), archaeologists, and researchers that give great and logical Biblical answers that refute these sort of claims.
      Finally, your suggestion that Christians who teach their children this way are "not allowed to ask any questions" is misleading. We are constantly answering questions and explaining things to our children all day about all matters pertaining to life and godliness from a Biblical worldview. This is called discipling your children. We teach them the opposing views in science, other religions, and social issues, and why they are incorrect, in order that they may learn to "destroy arguments raised against the knowledge of God" (2 Cor. 10:5). We have a reasonable faith. We must teach them to "be prepared to give a defense... for the hope that is in you, ...with gentleness and respect" (1 Pet. 3:15).
      We stand by our conviction that there is no such thing as "neutral" education. Either Christ is God, or He is not. Secular education does not affirm Christ is God, therefore it is not neutral. It will always replace Christ with something else as God, whether it be science, man, or the state, and will always pull you in that direction, which is away from God. You cannot serve two masters. If you are not convinced maybe you should read a little Rushdoony or Bahnsen on this subject (in case you're not familiar Rushdoony is the man who basically secured our right to home school in the 80's when it was illegal). But of course, your liberty in Christ allows you in your good conscience to choose what is right for your family. However, I would caution you and those who would take that path that you are on dangerous ground. Hope this helps!
      Sincerely In Christ

    BINGO! Thank you! God bless you. Sharing this, it needs to be heard. Any Christian who is asking for secular resources, I would encourage that person to stop and think about who it is (or what it is) they serve. I get that some people may want to meet the world halfway, but unfortunately there is no halfway. As you said, secular education teaches its own separate religion. It teaches unbiblical doctrines and often even sneaks in the encouragement of lifestyles that the bible clearly labels as sin. At one time in this country, the bible was taught to the children, used in their education and prayer was encouraged. That is clearly not what we see now. We need to go back to teaching our children the former way and the only way you get that now is either in private Christian schools or homeschool. ALSO, I'M A YOUNG-EARTH CREATIONIST TOO! NO HATE HERE!

    Hi Mandy, thanks for this video! My oldest son is going to fifth-grade next school year and we’ve been considering to move him to a private christian school with BJ Press and Abeka curriculum. My question here is “are we really doing them a favor by keeping them away from the reality we live in today’s world?” i know that bible teach us to stay around Godly people but the real world is cruel, work environment for instance is cruel so are we suppose to keep them at home and stopping them from learning how to handle the world while being a good christian?

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  Год назад +1

      Hi Erwin! There's a lot of factors at play here. First we need to remember that private schools are not the same as homeschooling, sometimes they can be just as bad as public schools. Don't be deceived because it has the name "Christian" attached to it. Be diligent and heavily research the school and ask questions. You may have already done this. Have a meeting with the principal. Do they teach CRT? DEI? What is their stance on LGBT? Marriage? Family? These are questions that need to be asked. Then if it's a good school, make the decision that's best for your family situation. For example, we had a friend from church, a single dad who was going to enroll his daughter in a private "Christian" school, until he found out they promoted DEI training, then it was a hard pass. In regards to your question should you private/homeschool: With liberal, atheist curriculum and how dangerous schools have become today, it's our duty to protect our kids. In Deuteronomy, the Lord leaves education to the parents, so it's also a duty given by God. I think there's a misconception with homeschoolers that if they are educated at home, they must not see the outside world. That's not true at all. Our kids are integrated in social things outside our home, and they have us to help them navigate it in a Godly way. Also, if we ever find us questioning something God teaches us from His word, i.e. "i know the Bible says this...BUT....", we should be asking ourselves, why the "but"? This shows we are not fully trusting God. It's no different than in the garden when Satan says to Eve, "did God really say?" If we find ourselves conflicted with a clear Biblical teaching, then the problem lies within our heart, not with God. If you are struggling then I encourage you to pray for God to give you the grace to step out in faith and trust His word when it comes to your kids! We will pray for you too! You can do it by the grace of God, trust Him and He will enable you!

    Okay I am just trying to understand: Why do you think that all knowledge comes from God? The book of proverbs says that „the lord gives wisdom“ which I generally can agree with because the bible is a great source for moral guidelines and I will be forever grateful to my elementary school religious teacher (religious instruction in schools is normal in my country ) who used stories from the bible to teach us great life lessons, but it’s not saying that the lord gives all knowledge. One another point why do you not think that your kids, especially the older one aren’t capable of being exposed to different viewpoints and ideas and comparing arguments and logics. Speaking and learning from people who have a different background can be so valuable to get a better picture of the world and better understand others even if you happen to disagree with them.

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  2 года назад +4

      Lisa,
      I can answer your questions very easily!
      Q1: “Why do you think that all knowledge comes from God?”
      A: Because we are Christians and the Bible says so! (You mention Proverbs and it’s literally in the FIRST chapter!)
      “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of KNOWLEDGE; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Prov. 1:7)
      What this means is that you can’t have ANY knowledge or wisdom without first fearing (reverencing) the LORD. In other words, the only way to know anything at all, you either have to know EVERYTHING yourself (impossible) or the one who knows EVERYTHING (God) must reveal it to you since He is the Creator and Knower of all things. He does this in two ways: natural or general revelation (our God given conscience and nature), and special revelation (His revealed word).
      Q2: “Why do you think your kids…aren’t capable of being exposed to different viewpoints?”
      A: (This is the most laughable and condescending and we are really getting tired of the haters always putting words in our mouths!) Our kids are more than capable! When did I say once we do not expose our kids to different viewpoints?? The whole POINT of a Christian education is to expose them to what GOD says (the Truth) and what the unbelieving World says so that we will always have an answer for what we believe ( 1 Pet. 3:15). Otherwise what you have is an ignorant faith, which collapses under any sort of pressure because you have not been informed and equipped to give an answer for why you believe what you believe. Furthermore, why would we teach Christianity if we did not believe it to be true, over and against opposing worldviews? Imagine that, we are real Christians who believe what the Bible says. The Bible is true, which we believe because it’s God’s Word and He cannot lie, which also bears witness through our own human experience, our conscience, and history itself. It’s axiomatic, meaning it’s self proving. Though you do not need these things to believe, because faith comes from God and God alone.
      So like I said this video is for real Christians who REALLY believe the Bible and want to live faithfully to God! So if this offends you please move on!
      Also the Bible is not just a “great source of moral guidelines”. It’s the Word of God. Jesus said He is the Way, The Truth and the Life, and the ONLY way to the Father is through Him. So to borrow from C.S. Lewis, either Jesus was a liar or a madman, or He is actually God. But don’t patronize Him by calling Him a “good teacher” or the Bible a “moral book.” Only a madman would call himself God, unless He actually is God. So if He was a madman, move on with your life. But if the other is true, you’ve got some serious things to think about don’t you…?

      @@mandy-maltz First of all thank you for answering. Just having a conversation is in my mind the most important thing. Please understand that my questions weren’t meant as being mean or hateful, it was just based on my understanding of what you have said. Sadly the world became so polarised that people have a legitimate fear that they might be bashed in the comments if they speak their mind on certain issues or a penalised in some way when they engage in a conversation with somebody who has other views.
      I really think that the main part of the disagreement is a different interpretation of the Bible, its purpose and how we see the role of religion in life and that’s okay. As you said faith is faith and that’s the beauty of it. I wouldn’t say that there a people that are “real Christians” and others that aren’t, because in the end that’s not up to us to decide but up to God. (But that’s just what I believe)

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  2 года назад +3

      @@lisal5718 Thank you for being civil in your response. However, it sounds like you have a very post-modernist/relativist worldview. The most important thing is rightly discerning the word of God, not just having a conversation. The Bible is the inerrant infallible word of God. To say anything less is to discredit God, and to call Him a liar. And yes there are actually “real Chrsitians” and those who aren’t. The Bible says so, and Jesus taught us how to discern them: “18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”
      23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
      And how do we know which one we are? If we do His will:
      “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (All from Mat. 7)
      Also there’s no such thing as “one’s own interpretation”. Again the Bible says so:
      20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (1 Pet 20-21). You can be right or you can be wrong but there is no “interpretation” unless it is from God. How do you discern this? Search this scriptures:
      16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[a] may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Tim 3 16-17).
      It’s all spelled out in scripture. So it seems your disagreement is not with me but with scripture itself. Not to be offensive but it seems like you are not actually studying the Scriptures since you seem to have limited knowledge. Otherwise you would have known all knowledge comes from God. Actually do you even consider yourself a Christian? I don’t even know why I’m bothering if you are not. This whole conversation is pointless if you’re not a Christian.

      @@mandy-maltz Yes, I am Christian. But you are right that my denomination is extremely liberal. The best way to classify would be that my Church is mainline protestant reformed. But I am not sure if that’s 100% accurate, because the christian landscape in Germany is extremely different from the one in the US. Scripture isn’t seen as inerrant, but more as a product of the time in which it was written down and as something that’s often not meant to be taken literally, but which carries a deeper meaning or uses literal pictures in order to make a certain point. It’s also taken into consideration that we deal with translations that aren’t necessarily catching what was originally intended and were translated by mere humans. It’s also a very accepting approach like I was told during Sunday school before confirmation that Jesus is always with the weak and outcasted people in society and therefore he would prefer to be on the dark streets with a struggling homeless single mom or a refugee that’s facing deportation and so on. Woman can be ministers and same sex couples can have a church weeding in most cases.
      Just to make transparent where I am coming from.

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  2 года назад +3

      @@lisal5718 Thank you so much for being honest about your denomination being liberal. (by the way both myself and my husband have been typing these answers while searching the scriptures 😁)You say something key here: The word "literal". This is SUCH a critical and logical question you need to ask yourself: If the Bible is not to be taken literal than how do you know Jesus LITERALLY died on the cross for your sins and LITERALLY rose from the dead? If He did not than Paul says "we are still dead in our sins" and we are" to be most pitied". But if the Ark and the Flood, lets say, or the Red Sea parting, or any of the miracles were not literal than you have no justification to believe the ressurection was. It could also be a myth for all you know, and there's no way of telling what's real and what's not real. So you must believe it's either all real or it's not, and throw the whole thing out. There's no point of being a Christian if Jesus did not rise from the dead. Period. Its sad to see Germany which is at the heart of the reformation (think Martin Luther 1517) which brought us back to inerrancy and Sola Scriptura to become so liberal and lost, but to be fair we have a huge problem here too with that. And that's why we need a continued Reformation through Christ and his word and returning to the Scriptures. Sola Scriptura. Just curious what is your denomination called? Because it does not sound reformed at all.
