    TL;DR:
    Regeneration: heat up the compressed air with the waste heat recovered before burning it(save energy by reducing the overall waste heat)
    Intercooling: cool down the compressed air before compress it further(this make the air easier to compress thus save some energy)
    Reheating: heat up the exhaust gas and pass it into a second turbine(burn more fuel but more power0

    In intercooling why it is necessary to use 2 compressors even though we got same temperature in TS diagram. Here is the doubt arises that when the temperature is same then why do we need to use 2 compressors

    • @ifinfotech
      @ifinfotech  3 года назад +2

      Hi Sai Tarun Adina,
      In intercooling two compressors deliver greater air pressure at higher capacities than single compressor, 2 compressors with intercooling perform less work to compress air to a given pressure, which means your operating costs are lower. Here cooling action is responsible for higher efficiency, bringing it closer to Carnot efficiency. Cooling of compressed air reduces its temperature and thereby increasing density of air output.

      in intercooled internal combustion hidrostatic Otto engines like the Subaru EJ
      after the centrifugal compression driven by the turbo, you cool the air,
      then compress again inside the engine with a piston.
      In order to cool the working fluid, it is better to have it inside the system
