Hey! great video but wanted to clarify - Signature Suite = the exclusive lounge in YVR/YYZ, whereas I think you're referring to their Business class product marketed as "Signature Class."
Great review. I fly to Canada frequently...but I would fly to NYC via SQ and hop over rather than flight via AC direct. My knock on AC business is that there is restricted feet space and the bed is very narrow. SQ long haul bed is much much wider and way more comfortable. But the worst part is that ACs soft products is miss and hit. I have had cabin crew that are super friendly and showed that he loved their job. But more often then not, AC business crew showed that they can't be bothered. On the contrary, SQ cabin crew is always consistent so you know what your getting.
Glad you enjoyed it I see what you're saying about the soft product and experienced same as you. I'd rather not pass through the states if I can avoid it, so I'll choose a flight to Canada over a US connection when possible.
I noticed that you had one of those newer style Canadian passports. Did you have any issues with the passport scanning at the automated passport control machines in Singapore? Mine kept having problems and I had to get processed manually. It worked fine in other countries though.
Yes, sometimes it takes a few times to scan. I think the hard plastic card reflects the light, or something to the effect. A couple tries and it tends to work.
I wonder when Air Canada will re introduce Melbourne 🇦🇺 service? That will definitely beat Singapore in terms of distance. I hear the YVR-MEL is in the works
Glad you enjoyed it! I used eupgrade with my ac status not bid upgrade.. Their website has a document outlining the cost (if any) associated with eupgrade From my experience, bid upgrade to prem econ is generally reasonable... check it out as your trip gets closer!
Air Canada is a member of Star Alliance. If you were guaranteed the business class upgrade, you would have been able to enjoy the lounge access 😢 Such a wasted opportunity 🥴 Anyways, lovely coverage! Didn't know there's a SIN- Vancouver route.. SQ used to serve this route for awhile. Sadly it didn't last long 😔
Yes. If the upgrade cleared before check in, I'd be able to hit up the lounge. Sometimes it clears, sometimes it doesn't. All depends. Glad you enjoyed the trip!
Good question. Lounge is only included in an eupgrade if it clears by check in. Once I have a business class ticket, lounge access is possible. If the flight was delayed, I'd be able to go to the lounge. So it's a yes/no answer
This is a good question. Air Canada outlines the cost for eupgrade based on distances and class booked. I forget the exact amount, I think about 20 credits plus $500.
depending on the fare type. Standard fare $545 CAD & 23 credits, Flex $363 & 20 credits, and Latitude fare 13 credits only. I am still on the waitlist for the e-upgrade for this coming week flight.
Perhaps you might change your mind if you had the chance to fly business class? When you fly in a premium cabin, you actually wished the flight was longer!
Would be a long time in econ! Knowing what I know now, I'd probably break it into two... But then if the price is right, I can suck it up for a few more hours 🤣

You're absolutely correct. Small oversight on my part 🤣
Wow they offer satay! Great video as always.
Thanks! They were great!

That's be a trip! Would love to visit Melbourne.
Great video! My Wife and I are booked on the same flight next March in economy. How much did you bid for your upgrade?
you can use e upgrades and pay a small fee instead of bidding… much cheaper!

Was it full?
Pretty full, but not 100%
I wish it was Singapore Airlines that operated this flight instead of Air Canada.
I'm happy with AC since I get 100%sqm/sqd! Was surprised before booking that SA didn't fly to YVR
@@theglobalpeasantSQ did. 2021-2023. Nonstop. Did the flight a few times.
@@the.mystictravellerand in the 2000s as well. The route was not profitable for sq as well.
Agreed

Are there many Canadians and Singaporeans on board? Any of the AC's Cabin Crew were Singaporean speaking English and Mandarin on board?
No idea. Pretty sure the cabin crew were Canadian.
No Singaporeans on AC .. only Finnair and the Big3 Middle Eastern carriers as well as Saudia employs Singaporeans.
Awesome trip report. Not the best, but not too bad business class product.
I agree! But this is better than slinging in economy for 15 hrs! Very grateful to be able to upgrade this flight!
How much did you have to pay for an e upgrade to business class?

Air Canada business class blows 💔
😭😭 What's better? Maybe I'll put it to the test if I can one day!
I'll still give you a ❤️ for commenting!
dude is smokin hot
Their economy isn’t that good sadly
Not the best, but also not the worst.
I did that flight via Singapore Airlines in economy 🫠. Never again lol

@@yvr2002rtw definitely agree with ya mate 🙌🏼
