  • Start with your right arm in the correct position and you will feel like cheating in your golf swing. In this golf video Danny Maude shows by getting the right arm in the correct starting position with driver and irons the golf swing just feels easy.
When you get the right arm in the correct position it helps you get a perfect backswing. In fact once you have locked the right arm in place Danny shows you exactly how to move the right arm perfectly with his signature dumbbell move.
But the golf lesson wouldn't be complete without knowing how to move it in the downswing. Danny Maude has you covered. There is no room for loads of complicated swing thoughts in the golf swing so you need something super simple.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RUclips and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I'm nearly 71 and have played golf for over fifty years. At one point I was consistently shooting in the low 70's with my best round ever being a 69 at a course I only played ONE TIME! I've NEVER had the PRIVILEGE of seeing a TEACHER like Mr. Maude! He makes everything so simple yet so effective! Now if I could only teach this old dog new tricks!! All my life I've had the misses as weak and right. I can look back at the matches I WOULD have won had I hit my irons with power and consistency. Today's kids have all this access - all I ever had was Golf Digest and books. That old saying "a PICTURE is worth a thousand words" MIGHT have been true, but a VIDEO of someone like Mr. Maude - PRICELESS!! Thank you for making these videos and for your excellent content!!

I am 73 and he has made a big difference in my game - I never "slice" and that was almost a constant in my game. Now if anything - I might push the ball out to the right. I am starting to love to play golf again.

Remember something, the greatest players the game has ever known didn’t have videos, or RUclips. They had talent and they worked very hard.
I’m not saying, videos, and lessons won’t make you better, but it will not give you consistency.

I’ve been a subscriber for a little over a month, and let me tell you what a difference it has made. last summer I was scoring consistently 95-105, my lowest score of the season was 89. After Watching a few lessons I stated practicing what he was teaching, ( picking relevant lessons for me,) and instantly felt a difference. I wasn’t scoring much better due to relearning club distance, and a few blow up holes, but sticking with it has paid off big time!!!! Played 27 today and it all came together.

I watched this yesterday and today I took eight strokes off my recent average. My drives were much straighter and consistent. I wouldn't say I saw a big difference in power. Not yet. I believe it will take some time to get used to the change in my swing but I'm more optimistic now that I've been in weeks. I haven't been playing very long (about six months) but this tip really made a difference in my approach and my attitude.

I’ll say it for the 4th or 5th time…YOU ARE THE BEST RUclips GOLF COACH. I’m 44 yrs old and in great shape but struggle hitting my irons for distance. My 9,8,7 are all the same lol…I hate it and I’m at the range too much trying to figure it out. This is my 3rd yr of playing so I am new at it but your videos tend to be the only ones that actually compute in my brain. I can hit the ball straight but I chicken wing it and I knew my right arm was doing something wrong. I tried this out for 3 straight days and I can’t believe it…I’m still in shock and so unbelievably happy. My driver is crazy now also…I average probably 250(which I’m happy with) but some go farther if I obviously get a hold of it correctly. My irons though…feel so good and the ball is popping off of them. I would have to use my 5 hybrid if I was 150yds out and it’s embarrassing cause I’m 6’0 205lbs(gym 5 days a week). That’s all over now cause that elbow is fixed because of you and I thank you so very much Danny. God bless you brother 🙏

Thanks Danny...without a doubt the most valuable piece of golf instruction going. I've struggled with low point control for years. One minute I'm center punching greens from 150, next I'm trenching the fairway. This tip not only improved my distance by probably 10-20%, more importantly (to me) it has helped me hit the low point much more consistently. I am convinced that the elbow's point of contact with the right rib cage helps automatically calibrate arm position and improve my strike. As you say, our bodies are smart. As a side note, I recently wore a down vest to the driving range on a chilly morning and, combined with your tips, hit the best irons of my life. I've never gone ball, turf for an entire bucket of balls... albeit a small bucket. Again, I'm sure my brain felt that point of contact with my right elbow and helped keep my low point consistent. Thanks for all your great content!

Absolutely brilliant, Danny! And from a personal view: what a coincidence. After a long break in golf due to age-related knee and back issues, I hardly broke 85 for a year after being a, certainly not good golfer, yet playing off a low handicap. Nobody realized my right-arm set-up mistake and I spent shanking and pushing and pulling the golf ball for a year, being close to quit. The day before yesterday, being a stupid golfer, I coincidentally realized that set-up flaw, changed it and within a split-second, the game was back. If I wouldn´t have been so excited to be back and three-putted less, the scores would have been even better. Now, two days later you are posting this video!!! And what great two visuals to support the lesson!!! In my humble opinion, if there was a list of 10 RUclips videos on golf you should watch before you die, this is DEFINITELY one of them. Can´t express how grateful I am to see your video. Thanks a million, Danny!!! You are an excellent golf teacher, have always been.

I'm protecting an elbow injury so didn't want to go too hard into striking the ball but if I can keep up this new consistency then I can work on the problem areas with more confidence. Many thanks Danny and congrats on the One Million subs!

Just saw on the congrats on 1 million subs - congrats from here in the States. Love this drill on the trail arm. Been working on bicep curl type drills with elastic bands. Never thought about the cupped hand splashing I did with the kids in the pool would correlate to a drill for the arms in golf. Great visual. Thanks for the weekly lessons/drills - watching is part of my Sat morning routine.

Thanks Danny, great video as always. I had my regular monthly lesson on Thursday and it was pretty much the same technique, with an additional drill of split hands on the grip. To open the left arm (I am left handed) has helped me a lot! Playing golf now for 40 years and did every swing. But opening the trail arm and trying to hammer down this arm as if you would hammer a nail down in the crowd gives me power and control. Also I now understand the Hogan Idea of having the inside of the arms open. It helps you so much getting your elbow in front. And actually if you would throw a stone your inside of the arm is also open.

This absolutely works. I was doing this without knowing it several years ago and shot my best rounds. I went from shooting in the high 90s to staying in the mid to low 80s in one season. I was actually close to shooting in the 70s for the first time ever and my buddy mentioned it, so I ended up with an 83 (my lowest round.) I have not played in several years and decided to get back to the range recently and have not been able to remember what I was doing back then. Thank you so much for taking the time to make easy to understand content.

I just got back from the golf range today and followed this bicep curl tip and holy crap. I've been trying to figure out what's been wrong with my shots and after I perfectly knocked that ball when I used the bicep curl technique, it was like the moment of epiphany. I was dumbfounded at the feeling and why every shot afterwards just kept being perfect. It felt so unnatural the first few times but by the time I worked it into the foot+pivot routine it all came together like magic. I looked at my wife after the third shot with my jaw dropped open and I swear I told her "Danny, my coach, did it again!" Couldn't be more thankful for your videos! I've been playing golf for 35 years. Over the last few years my ball striking has got worse and scores going up. I have a tendency to hook the ball. To fight this is was trying to weaken my right hand grip. This was getting my right arm out of position. After watching this video I went to the range and followed this drill. It was probably the best bucket of balls I've hit in a long time. Not like I'm going to be shooting par golf tomorrow, but it feels good to have that feeling again of really hitting a ball solid.

Fantastic tip @Danny - it's the missing ingredient (for me) to get consistent ball-first contact. I had been concentrating on keeping my lead arm straight to get a consistent radius arc, but still managed to hit fat and thin shots. The crucial part for me was not internally rotating the whole trail arm at address, but keeping the trail elbow facing forwards and only rotating the wrist when adding the trail hand to the club. Thank you!

I’ve honestly struggled to translate the concepts of throwing a ball or making a wave in the pool to the golf swing. It was extremely discouraging. What finally helped me was the simple act of trying to make my right elbow get as close to my left at the start of the down swing. It keeps me from rushing the down swing, coming over the top. I feel like I’m swinging easier/smoother and still hitting it a good distance.
May not work for everyone but it might help someone out there!

But simply straightening the arms on the backswing changed my shoulder position to more vertical so that it was much easier to swing round on downswing rather than get the hands stuck behind the leg/hip and flipping. Thanks again for always picking up on my issues without seeing me swing 😂

More recently I have tried to move on from this issue in practicing - working on releasing with both arms - in a v shape - but after this session I will look at my trail arm again. For all those years I wasn't wrong to think about it! I thought it was peculiar to my lefthanded issue.

Danny ! Thank you so, so much! That splashing sensation as you described it so brilliantly l, has transformed my game. I started playing golf at 50 , got down to 5 and now at 73 I’ve blown out to 12. I thought it was age that was crunching me. It wasn’t. It was technique ! The splashing sensation gave me the proper through-swing path that until now had eluded me. Now , I sometimes hit a succession of balls with the consistency of Moe Norman.
Will love you forever and won’t mind if your fellow poms win the second test against my countrymen. Shame about Edgebaston 😂
For the sake of so many fellow struggling golfers, please reinforce that splashing technique in your future videos. I can’t help thinking it’ll help far more golfers than myself. If I get to travel to England, I would like to seek you out and thank you personally. All the best, Dennis Evans
