When I found myself with no car, limited income, and having to complete 2 more years of college at age 28... I bought myself one of these from a little old lady. Mind you, this was in 2015. My big old 96 Skylark V6 sedan was like driving a couch. Forest green with an off-putting Navy interior. It was basically trying to overheat and blow itself up every day. Leaked coolant one day, and then wouldn’t leak again for 3 months. It did get me to the point of earning my degree, and was first on my list of things to replace when I started my new career in 2017, having eclipsed 20 years of age and 115k miles. Thank you, green goblin, for teaching me what it would be like to constantly smell coolant fumes while trying to relax on my sofa.
I had one of these! Mine was teal on gray with the 3.1 V6 AND overdrive and a center console. I got 28 mpg highway with that thing and loved it to death.
I KNOW! I got a Cutlass Calais w/Iron Duke as a rental car. Drove over 100 miles, but avoided the turnpike and major highways. It felt pretty good, and the sound gave me the feel of going fast (or at least not slow)
My first car was one of these, a ‘93 four door also in white with a charcoal interior. Had the 3300 v6 and it was pretty quick! No air bag, had a cassette deck but I later swapped the radio for a Pontiac version for that red lighting, and I installed a used Sony CD changer in the back lol. Drove it in high school until my senior year(2006). That car was great, thanks for bringing back memories!
I loved my red '97 coupe with the 3100 V6. That "one sensor" for the airbag may have saved my life when the girl in the Mustang pushed me straight into a guardrail at 75mph.
I remember seeing these all over the place, (a neighbor had one, a red sedan) I mean they were EVERYWHERE with falling headliners and leaking fluids and rusted mufflers and then one day they disappeared into thin air pretty fast. I remember seeing piles of n bodies in scrap yards rusted and beaten up, it was honestly a site to behold.
I guess my GM assembly line workers reaching agreement and got a raw deal from the Hyatt UPS they just went ahead and said screw it we're just going to sabotage these cars... But wait .... but the designer's already sabotage these cars for us.
My 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva also had a very odd looking front end. I think the Pontiac Grand Am was probably the most stylish of this GM line. Although, the Achieva's interior, and gauge cluster was probably the nicest from the inside.
My grandparents had one of these years ago, red with a red interior if I'm not mistaken ( I know the exterior was red anyway), so I've always had a soft spot for them. I remember riding in it when I was really little and everything. Someday if there's any left in good enough condition I'm going to buy one!

I inherited my grandma’s 1997 Grand Caravan with only 37000 miles! My grandpa and her used to drive locally, and a trip to Vegas ever couple years, but after he passed, the car pretty much sat, and my dad and I would get it smogged every year and it just sat for nearly 15 years getting driven about once a week to Target. So when I got my license, she passed it down to me, basically giving a brand new car that was kept in great shape
My 1998 Nissan Altima had that steering wheel alignment issue and I was never sure if it was intentional OR a defect. Turns out it was both. Anyway, thank you for the knowledge
The N-Body platform was the Pontiac Grand Am, Oldsmobile Achieva, Buick Skylark, not the Chevy Corsica and Beretta. The Corsica and Beretta were on the L-Body platform.
I bought a '95 Skylark for $250 in 2009. It need a new headlight switch and it was good to go. Had the 3100 V6. Peppy as hell. Drove it all over the country. Indiana to Georgia, all over Georgia. Back to Indiana, then down to Texas. Lived with it down there for 2 years. Then drove it back to Indy. Broke down on me one night and I just said, "enough is enough. I've got my $250 worth out of it." Grabbed my few things I had in it, and left it where it stopped. Never saw it again. For the price, it was in extremely good condition. Beautiful car, as it were. Super clean interior, paint was still good. It was that forest green colour they painted everything back in the 90's. I really loved that car. GM V6 engines were fucking bullet proof back then. I had several GM V6 vehicles back in the early 2000's. The cars all fell apart, but the engines refused to stop.
When you said Chevy Corsica and then showed the interior of the Buick, I felt like I could literally smell it. We kept getting Corsica’s as rental cars back in the 90s whenever my mom would blow another engine in the ‘86 eldorado. And also again when my mother wrecked the truck. They all smelled the same. Whether brand new or with quite a bit of miles on them. They had _that_ smell. If you’ve ever been in a Corsica. You know what I’m talking about.

I rented a 1993 skylark in Mobile, AL travelling to a power plant... listening to Aerosmith's "Living on the Edge" on the radio... for 40 miles each way. It was teal (the skylark).
I had the Pontiac variant of that car, the Grand Am with the quad 4, it was the best car I've ever owned. I got 28 mpg riding it like a dog. When you realized you had to ease into the throttle instead of mashing it down it was actually pretty quick, it handled very well, and with a weak water pump it still went 20k more before i lost the head gasket. And when I sold it to the junk yard? They fixed it and it went back on the road lol

that hit close to home.
Beautiful lines, a true American classic can be had for a few hundred dollars.. Love the inline four "Iron Duke" growl at full throttle.
I KNOW! I got a Cutlass Calais w/Iron Duke as a rental car. Drove over 100 miles, but avoided the turnpike and major highways. It felt pretty good, and the sound gave me the feel of going fast (or at least not slow)
@@SteevK69 Haha, that's a nice way to describe it. "at least not slow"
This was the funniest review in a long time. Do more of these.
Back in the 90’s I loved the honor of driving my folks’ Skylark when my 1986 Mazda 323 was in the shop. So comfy. 😂
"You want a Sprite? But guess what? You're getting all of it old man!"
Man, this makes me miss my 97 Buick Century. It was a great first car.
I had a 97 for my first car. The nose was less pointy, had the 3.1 and was fine for a highschooler. It was pretty solid, but not very exciting.
But was comfy and cheap
The one I had was loud, sounded like a truck. 😂
Still own the exact one. 1997, sedan, v6, etc. As you say it's not exciting. The 3 shields always gives people the wrong first impression
My high school first car was a '94 Prizm. Also not exciting, but it didn't have to be - it was freedom
Cash for clunkers finished them off.
I guess my GM assembly line workers reaching agreement and got a raw deal from the Hyatt UPS they just went ahead and said screw it we're just going to sabotage these cars... But wait .... but the designer's already sabotage these cars for us.
The official car of low budget 90s movies
Can't help thinking of Weekend At Bernie's 2
The car for the neighbor that sits on his porch and stares at everyone... Everyday
LOVE these reviews and watched many of them - I think this one is the best of the best so far! Comments are a gold mine too, as usual
My 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva also had a very odd looking front end. I think the Pontiac Grand Am was probably the most stylish of this GM line. Although, the Achieva's interior, and gauge cluster was probably the nicest from the inside.
I passed my drivers test in a 95 skylark it was my grandfather’s the interior was also red this brings back great memories thanks for posting!
3:00 Pegging = yes.
Sounding = hospital.
Your mileage may vary.
My grandparents had one of these years ago, red with a red interior if I'm not mistaken ( I know the exterior was red anyway), so I've always had a soft spot for them. I remember riding in it when I was really little and everything. Someday if there's any left in good enough condition I'm going to buy one!
Before I begin watching, I just want you to know that I'm purposely going to watch this in 144p because somehow, I feel that fits this car.
*ahem*
As I was...
that car was owned by a major-general (O-8).
We'd better pause
I'd like to see a review of a 91-96 Park Avenue next. One of my all time favorite cars!
This feels like an early episode, I love it! I see DJ Double Lunch makes another appearance!
It's so strange looking I almost feel sorry for it....That said I love Buicks...Just bought a 1993 Park Avenue, fantastic car! Thumbs up for a very funny review! From Europe with love :)
That interior is SO 90’S and I love it.
I liked the fade to black over Roman’s song at the end.
RCR...the only reason I look forward to Mondays.
>Time elapsed before mentioning My Cousin Vinny: 7 minutes and 26 seconds
Outstanding!
That's a clean engine. Kudos to its owner.

shiny teeth, and shiny grilles XD
The Buick Skylark looks pretty cool with its retro futuristic styling
I inherited my grandma’s 1997 Grand Caravan with only 37000 miles! My grandpa and her used to drive locally, and a trip to Vegas ever couple years, but after he passed, the car pretty much sat, and my dad and I would get it smogged every year and it just sat for nearly 15 years getting driven about once a week to Target. So when I got my license, she passed it down to me, basically giving a brand new car that was kept in great shape
This car actually looks pretty damn good. Being a coupe helps. Love the column shifter. I bet it’s a good highway cruiser
It's a terrible highway cruiser because it has no overdrive. In 1995.
Michael Hunsinger this is true. If it were the lil v6 it might have it. I wonder if it has a lock up torque converter
I knew that sounded wrong as shit
yep...and I've owned both. A Beretta and a Grand Am. Glutton for punishment I am.
The L and N platforms are related. L was Chevy's take, N was developed through Olds. There are differences but they are considered related cars.
i literally can never get enough of these videos. we luv u mr. reg
Hnnngh... It's so "GM `93 Demolition Man dreamcar"-ISH it hurts, but in a good way. I love it. Fite me.
This is probably one of the last coupes with front split bench seating and column shifter setup.
2:39 and 4:13 There are those damn *DOOR MOUNTED SEAT BELTS AGAIN.*
Lived it. Thank God I was driving stuff from the 70's and early 80's at this time.
Go watch the Lumina behind the scenes video. Lol
6:54 DJ Doubble Lunch???
THAT'S A NAME I HAVENT HEARD IN 5 YEARS!
Matt Graham DOUBBLE UP DONKEY PUNCH WHAM-BAM THANK YOU MAAM MID DAY GIVE-AWAY
As usual, fantastic review and writing
The part about the youth pastor got me lmao
And that quad 4 was crazy capable. Built up and with turbos, it ran the first gen oldsmobile aerotech and broke a few speed records.
Note to owner. Maintain and love it. Be an American Hero!
Gloriously hideous, I approve.
Back in 06' this was my brother-in-laws/roomate's first car. It was in black & we called it the batmobile simply because we felt since it had the hefty point in the front that could take out everyone else civic by ramming it!
Oooooh I'm so jealous
I have an old 97 skylark that was in my family with a blown motor, and I'm going to drop a 3.8L gen 2 supercharged in it. I would love to have that low mileage one...
Why would you waste your money and time on that junk?
@@thetman0068 It's been in my family since it was new and it's sentimental to me.
Nice touch by being a dick right off the bat before knowing the answer.
I know it's late, but it's good to see a "Name Enough" emblem in the window (4th armored was nicknamed Name Enough)
Greetings from Brazil. I kind like it. Despite only have 3 speed and no over drive . The car have some personality . Not like nowaday ever cars look the same. i like american cars from the 90's a lot. Nice videos keep it up the good job.
They had plenty of overdrive's available as option
I rented a 1993 skylark in Mobile, AL travelling to a power plant... listening to Aerosmith's "Living on the Edge" on the radio... for 40 miles each way. It was teal (the skylark).
Buick skylark official car of “Hey aunt Linda is here to take you to drug court.”
