    I hope the company who sells the steamer pot really appreciate you guys demo it and give you a free one because you've helped boost their sales overnight inadvertently. LOL I've added it to my Christmas wish list!

    Yes !!!! Same way parents used to process cranberries. Steam and juice them for cranberry juice drink, ... run them through sieve for mushing, and concoct into fresh canned cranberry sauce (without gel preservative) for an all-fruit product putting on toast, turkey stuffing etc.

    I just read an interesting tip - some are using their steam juicer to juice their sugar cane. :) Although you and Danny do large quantities at a time, maybe this is a good backup system or when the weather or other circumstances (not enough cane for a large outdoor batch?). For those that have tried it, they claim that it works. :)

      Yes, fruits, tomatoes, as well as chicken, fish, seafood, cabbage, potatoes, sausage, puddings and sauces, vegetables. It is awesome for many steamed items. Hoping to do more with it in the future. Thanks

  • @mapleflagg7744

    Wanda, how thick did it end up? It looks quite thin going into the jars. I just made a batch of this syrup and now I'm curious as to how it's going to turn out. Canning syrup for the first time over here and scared out of my mind. LOL 😂

    Danny why did you or why do you add the lemon juice ?

    • @DeepSouthHomestead
      @DeepSouthHomestead  7 лет назад +2

      Annette Newton Lemon juice is a citric acid that helps it keep its bright color.We are still eating tomatoes canned in 2010 that are as bright red as the day they were canned using lemon juice.THanks Annette

    Funny I woke up to PBS special this a.m. They had sumptuous visuals of strawberry desserts and went on show a plaque that read Strawberry Fields, John Lennon, McCartney House, etc. so it must have been a show about the Beatles. That silly song has been ear-wigging me since. I only reinforced it with your video! Haha!

    Good video but I can't get over the amount of sugar that is needed or used, you are taking good strawberries and adding as much sugar as berries, and is the sugar from GMO cane or corn, there must be some way to use honey or maple syrup or apple juice to use as a sweetener and get near same result.
