    Pentium 3 650 mhz (6.5x100 FSB), 256 SDR, 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 (143/143 mhz). OpenGL, 1024x768, maximum details. Windows 98.

    I played this game for many many hours. Actually on a Voodoo 3 as well.

      @@BigMuff75 one of the best games of 1999 with probably the most advanced graphics of that time. And it run very well on a Voodoo 3 2000 in 1024x768 maximum details.

    So many memories... I had a Geforce 256 back in those days. I came from an ELSA GLoria XL that was good for 3D Max but terrible for gaming, massive difference.

      @@mundocpc the Geforce 256 was really expensive in late 1999 and 2000. Elsa was a german company as fas as I know. I also have a TNT2 made by Elsa.

      @@efpcvintageplanet3406 Considering that the Voodoo 3 2000 was a mid-range card sold for 129 $ and released almost a year before Quake 3 it still manages to run the game very very well in 1024x768 with all details at maximum.

      @@RealHero101111 Quake 3 runs surprisingly well with the Voodoo 3 2000 in 1024x768 maximum details. And Quake 3 not only was released almost 1 year after the Voodoo 3 but it also had very high system requirements for that period.

      @@Duchovicius1983 Quake 3 works very well with a Riva TNT1 in 800x600. The first time I played it was on a Riva TNT and Celeron 400 mhz back in 1999.

      @@chaser1254 the difference between the highest and lowest FPS is pretty big. But overall it’s a very pleasant experience in 1024x768 maximum details.

      @@3dfxvoodoocards6 My Riva TNT released more than a year before the Voodoo 3 performed much better with Q3, if I remember well.

    I think cpu is holding back that card big time but again it's more period correct than running P4 and Athlon XP 2ghz+ monsters

      @@novinovic298 That is true for very CPU dependent games like Max Payne, Deus Ex, Warcraft 3, etc. But Quake 3 is not very CPU dependent, the P3 650 mhz doesn’t bottleneck the Voodoo 3. I tested it with much fast CPUs and the frame rate is the same.

      @@3dfxvoodoocards6 Intresting considering other games based on Quake 3 engine do like strong CPU myb not as much as some other engines but it helps. I wish someone will do a proper retrospective of cpu performance in most popular engines of late 90s-early 00s era

      @@novinovic298 yes later games that used the Quake 3 engine needed faster CPUs to run well. But Quake 3 being the first game to use the IdTech 3 engine, not so much, in 1024x768 a P3 500 mhz does not bottleneck a Voodoo 3 or TNT2.

      @@Wobbothe3rd that's correct but I make those videos to see the FPS with the Voodoo cards in the games of that time. Image quality is of secundary importance.

      @@jake_reviews_games Thank you. I tried to run Interstate 76 in Glide with the Banshee and Voodoo 3 but I couldn’t make it run properly. If I remember correctly the game showed some visual artifacts no matter what I tried. I will have to try again to make it run and if it works I will certainly upload a video with it :)

      @@metalmartin6.6.6 lightmap means higher details then vertex. With lightmap it looks better and runs with lower FPS.

    oh do you know the command to change render mode, i think it's something like gl_renderer 3Dfx and then you get a few more fps lol

      @@wowitsshit9734 A few months ago I tested Quake 3 with 3dfx OpenGL and curiously it was a little slower than with default OpenGL. The difference was minimal anyway.
