- In this video I play the Japanese Indie horror game called Night Delivery. This game is by Chilla's art, which are the same creators of the game The Convenience Store. Both of these game are very unique and terrifying in their own special way. I hope you enjoy! Much love and see you during the streams :D

There is a Japanese superstition used in this game that I think adds a lot of creepiness to it.
In Japanese, the number 4 is sometimes pronounced "Shi", which is also the word for "Death". It's an unlucky number much like 13 in Western cultures. For example, elevators in Japan often skip the 4th floor in numbering.
You can notice in this game, the apartment numbers skip the number 4 - it goes 102, 103, 105, 106. And the fourth floor is blocked off with trash, forcing you to descend the stairs to it. In prior deliveries, you can see blood dripping from the room above 305, and then you see blood on the left side of apartment 403, both of these lend to a sense of unease when you realize what room it's coming from (the 4th room on the 4th floor).
Then you finally go to see the room and it just straight up is labeled 404 - they didn't skip the number 4 on that floor. I think you would rarely find a room with this number in Japan as it would be considered profoundly unlucky. Sure enough, you find 3 bodies inside... yourself making the 4th.
What's even more, the madmen at Chilla's Art released this game on June 4th. Because of course they did lol

From paranormal investigator to anomaly detector to retail worker and now night delivery man, Insym can barely hold the same job for more a couple hours haha! I think he could be a really good twitch streamer, maybe he should give it a try some day :)
Paranormal investigations turned too stressful for too little pay

Retail work was retail work and haunted his past jobs coming back
Delivery jobs as we see is another episode in his arc of fighting demons and ghouls

Let me do some lore explaination here, not 100% accurate but should give everyone a clear picture here.
Basically there is this guy called Kohei who is on welfare living in this apartment, and people on welfare are looked down upon in Japan society. Kohei get treated badly by everyone in this apartment, it is hinted that the Landlord killed Kohei and stucked Kohei in the fridge in room 404(the reason why the Landlord has surveillance on 404 and check on it when the delivery man got taken out).
And this is speculation, there is two version of story happen here.
A) Kohei come back as Vengeful ghost and killed everyone, including delivery man as seen in Ending 2. All the occupants you see are already dead and are actually ghost.
B) Kohei as a vengeful ghost haunted the apartment and trapped everyone living here, Kohei spare you because you discover all the letter from his mother and shown kindness to the animals(give water to dog and feed the wild cat) and hence the delivery man discover the corpse in the fridge, called the cop on landlord.

kohei was also disabled, this game was also partially based on a true story of a man in japan who worked at a disability center and one day stabbed many disabled patients to death
The funny thing about your stolen bike comment is that bikes get stolen often in japan...I was visiting my girlfriend in Osaka once and saw all the bikes without wheels and thought "wow Osaka is so ghetto" and when I flew back to my town in northern Japan, my bike which I left at the train Station amongst other bikes that looks exactly like it, was missing. Thankfully police found it for me after a couple months..
Oh wow. That is a whole 180 from that one story about a man getting his lost waller shipped back from japan with nothing missing XDD

i love how every time insym is just playing the game, discovering things, etc, the chat goes by pretty slow because people are also curious. but when a jump scare happens the chat starts BLOWING UP 😭

EDIT: The explanation is Shi means either 4 or death (written as 四 or 死 respectively), so they usually don't have the 4th room, and sometimes even the 4th floor entirely.

As for the storyline, I think it's about the treatment of disabled people by their environment? How people with a disability, mental or physical, are often seen as parasites of the welfare system and get insulted/excluded over being different.
Okay wow, I watched a 'Night Delivery Story/Endings explained' video and my heart is broken now. Highly recommend watching the 'all endings explained' video by GamerSault here on youtube, there were three crucial things you/we missed in your playthrough, one being the ending you watched on RUclips basically missing the important part of Ending Nr 1, which is what's in the fridge. :/

In my opinion even developers didn't know how the game finish. Now I want to see speedrun of this game and entire episode with lore explanation xD
What's not to understand though? The simple explanation without the Japanese lore is that a guy was bullied to the point that he went on a murder spree, killing everyone who was mean to him. The whole section of the delivery guy is what the landlord is watching trying to figure out what is going on, that's why the video has a filter initially. The actions you take during the game give way to the different endings, ending 1, the delivery man left, everyone survived. Ending 2, delivery guy goes through the whole delivery schedule and everyone dies.

Also I think one reason that jumpscare was effective to most is that green is generally considered a "safe" color. Especially after all that red. I didn't jump but I was definitely surprised. Though it was a bit of the "fool me once, fool me twice" scenario I guess. :D

The reason why the landlord killed Kouhei is for the money he gets from welfare... Everyone in the apartment got jealous that kouhei can get money so easily while others work their butt off to work...especially the landlord so in order to steal the money kouhei got from the welfare the landlord killed kouhei then after that he raised the rent for kouhei's room so the money will directly go to the landlord and so he hid the body inside the refrigerator so he can still receive money from kouhei's welfare well until the delivery man found it and reported it... That is the story
The game was an okay game, but you actually made me laugh and enjoy the video despite the quality of the game. I just wanted to point something out even though it might be a long shot.
First of all, when you dropped the pot from the balcony I thought that it hit the dog....Thank god you never went back there to find if this statement is true or not :P
Also another thought, can we assume that all this happened because of the good ending in the Retail Store? Because when the landlord part loads you wake up in front of your TV in your apartment with a VHS and a video tape to your right. So, the girl from the Retail Store sends the VHS tape to someone else to save herself and then the landlord gets it and eventually everyone gets angry and mad in the apartment block because of that thing that haunted you in the first game.
Maybe all this is very far from the actual truth (because in the good ending of this game the residents just sit outside of the apartment watching their neighbour commit suicide ??? ) but nonetheless I would be pretty amazing if the two games were connected this way.
No, the pot ends up in the parking lot and a key spills out. That key is for a mailbox labeled 404. You might remember mailboxes earlier.
