I am not a fan of the feature where they disable faceID if you change the screen yourself, even if you use an OEM Apple screen. It is a shame how they are tying the newer & superior technology to the slow conditioning of consumers that the device isn't theirs to do as they please with.
Louis thank you for being a voice for all of us in this space. These phones are very good phones, Apple please make them less disposable, it is more eco friendly and it is pro consumer. Apple has always had diehard loyal consumers, and they were one of the first trillion dollar companies to pass the milestone. They are rich and successful as it is. They do not need to nickel and dime consumers to remain solvent.
This finally pushes me for an upgrade from my iPhone X. I've been holding out on upgrading for 4 years now. I know the difference will be big for sure!
I just did the same, although I never replaced by X battery. The battery life upgrade is ridiculous and the cameras and so good in comparison. The screen is nice but not super noticeable
I’ve had an iPhone 8 for 3 years and the screen suddenly froze. So me and my family decided to get the 13 pro as an upgrade. Man, it was insane! The cinematography mode on the camera was simply amazing. I loved how flexible and quick you can transition between different apps.
Well, Marques, I'm an older guy in my 60s and I've always enjoyed your videos, they've always been very informative and helpful. Keep up the good work, Bro.
Marques, that intro felt like it could have come from Apple directly. The production value & content you put out never ceases to amaze me. Keep up the great work!
Just upgraded from an X and I’m loving everything about it. The giant cameras feel like a flex lol and the battery life is more than I could ever ask for. 10/10 for me
@@talonbenner3608 i just traded my iPhone 13 pro max already last week for. S21 ULTRA SO ha!! Now what and its far better more options sorry I can't stand phones with to many damn limits and restrictions
I’ve upgraded from an 8 to the 13 pro and the difference between screen and camera quality is unreal. The sierra blue colour is so nice, happy I chose it over the graphite
Hahaha, I too upgraded from the 8 to the 13 Pro! I still giggle at that sweet new screen after a week using it. I also have a standing order for a new iPad Mini to retire my really old Air 2, but I’m scared I’ll hate the screen in comparison
Came from a X that I got when it released and just upgraded to a 13 Pro and man has it been crazy how long the battery lasts. I find myself being super paranoid about it “dying soon” and then I remember that it’s at 80% and that’ll last hours longer. It’s a huge upgrade and a very welcome one.
Same here, got the X on launch day and tried the pro max for a few days, but it feels heavy to me even if battery life is incredible. I am going to try the regular pro and make my decision, the only thing I can say for now is that even if at first sight a phone feels heavy or enormous, the human mind adapts to it quite fast and now I kind of miss the huge screen
Same here! Launch day X to 13 pro. Went from 2.5 hours screen on time to upwards of 8-9, it’s unbelievable. Even the X with a brand new battery wouldn’t have been anywhere near close.
I just went from the XR to the 13 pro max and the first thing I noticed was how smooth and crisp everything on the screen is. The battery life is also incredible, I have a lot of down time at work so I spend a lot of time on RUclips. My old XR lasted about 5 to 6 hours before needing a charge. This new pro max can go for 10 hours of continuous use without falling below 50% battery.
Hey. I upgraded from the XR to the 13 pro in Alpine green. I love it, especially the cameras. I am actually watching this video on it. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for the content and hard work.
As a 120hz phone user, whenever my phone goes into low power mode and switches down to 60hz it feels like my phone is lagging and stuttering like crazy. So yeah, the difference between 120hz and 60hz is massive.
S21 ultra here. I love my 120hz refresh. It's hard to go back to 60hz.. but thankfully my battery life doesn't take a bit hit even when all my settings are maxed. I get roughly a day to a day and a half, sometimes two days on one charge. The iPhone 13 looks beautiful though. It's just hard for me to transition to iPhone. I've owned Samsung and apples devices throughout my life but I've owned every + model iteration since the galaxy S5 and I do have to say in terms of OS simplification and sleekness Samsung has won me over. It's catching up to iOS in terms of polish. My phone no longer lags or freezes like in previous models. No matter which phone you go with either of them are great and people should stick to preference but I'm keeping an open mind with apple in the future.
I’m still using my 13 Pro, it’s perfect. I’ve tried the 14, 14 Pro/PM, 15 Plus, 15 PM and I’ve always came back to the 13 Pro. It’s still on iOS 15 and it just works.
Why did you go back the 15 pro is so much better in terms of camera quality and somewhat battery life. Ik you'll prolly say they didn't change much but why would you go back to a slightly worse phone?
I'm literally using an iPhone 8 at the moment and my new iPhone 13 Pro is delivering day after tomorrow! I think my eyes are going to pop out seeing such a nice phone
@@someonetooknuggets he has early access any apple product check his videos he has always Apple Watch ....so iPhone is always there !and iMacs and MacBooks ....
I can attest, the new camera system is fantastic. I'm loving the new 3x Tele, the primary photos and videos are insane, and that ultra wide AF and macro is awesome
I upgraded from a iPhone 8 Plus that I’ve had since it came out, to the 13 Pro Max, and it was an awesome upgrade! The 13 Pro Max is a great phone. My favorite new feature has to be the battery life. Battery usually lasts me 2 days. Huge upgrade compared to my 8 Plus’s battery that would last half a day lol.
I just realized that my monitor I was using was only set to 60hz when. it was fully capable of doing 144hz. So I have used my 144hz monitor on 60 he for more than 2 years while I thought it was 144
I feel you man, this happened with me with my current monitor too. It was 144hz for games but for normal desktop usage it was 60hz. Only found out half a year later, now it makes a world of a difference.
That’s nice , but charge it at 20% and you don’t need to charge it back to 100%. You can keep it at 90% its better for the battery, my iPhone 12 is still at 100% capacity
@@James-oi6gr no i don’t use it, I’ll go to IG on my pc if I need to. If it’s an important call sure I’ll pick it up. Another good tip, leave it on marble while charging or another cold surface it helps it cool down while charging, wood just makes it warm up a lot. Mine doesn’t even warm up while charging thanks to that.
This was my first time skipping the previous year’s model. I just got the 13 pro max after having an 11 pro max. I DEFINITELY noticed the display difference and have been loving it. I’m happy to finally be rid of the round sides too. I love the heft of the phone too.
I switched over to the 13 pro max specifically because I need a good battery life for my job, because I’m out on the road for up to 12 hours at a time, and I reliably get a full day of screen on time with my maps displayed and some music or RUclips playing in the background, and I reliably still get through the day. Genuinely great battery life, even for very heavy use cases
I upgraded from the X and 100% noticed how smooth it felt in comparison with the higher refresh rate etc. the camera is obviously much better and I usually end the day on about 40-60% battery with moderate use of around 5-7 on screen hours
@@Wariosmustache i can clearly hear a big improvement in speaker loudness and quality between iphone X, XS, and 11 Pro, so I guess the 13 Pro will have that improved even further. XS speakers are already super good, bassy, loud, rich and clear
11:20 Big ups Marques for using centimetres instead of inches! It is appreciated from almost every country outside the USA that uses the metric system.
@@prathmeshbarge8750 can’t reduce it to just the camera. So much more that goes into it like pre production, lighting, and the basics of cinematography. The Camera is just the tool no matter how capable
@Tweed Penguin what I’m saying is having an expensive camera doesn’t guarantee beautiful footage. People who buy such expensive gear know how to get the most out if it and usually already know what they’re doing beforehand. The camera just adds to your capabilities but that’s not all that goes into it
Coming from an android for 15 years I definitely agree. Makes the iOS experience so much better. Battery life is indeed amazing. consistently 8-10hours of screen time. The Vibrancy of the new display is nice as well coming from a samsung.
@@ramzichouk4080 yeah and it's all ruined by Android. It's not about the price, it's about what you get for the money. And current/recent iPhones definitely are worth it.
before i had a 120Hz phone i thought it wasn't anything special. I bought a Galaxy S20 Ultra in October of last year and the high refresh rate display is incredible. its beyond smooth.
I went from an iPhone XR to a iPhone 13 pro max just this pass Monday and man I knew and felt the difference right away , it’s crazy that apples been able to come this far !
I find it cool that you even mention smaller details like the camera bump being a tiny issue on the duo charger, are there any other niche things like that, that didn't make the cut or weren't worth mentioning? :)
A little one I noticed is the lock and volume buttons were moved about 1cm down from the 12 Pro, so they're easier to reach. Small tweak, big usability upgrade. Also the speaker for actual phone calls being right on the top edge of the device (leading to smaller notch) seems to get fuzz from your pocket stuck in it easier.
"will regular people notice?" yes, I noticed immediately when going to a 13 pro max from my old 11 pro. I went from an iPhone 7 to Pixel 3 to iPhone 11 Pro, so I was never exposed to higher refresh rates from Samsung, Google, etc...but I noticed as soon as I started using it. I've had it about a week, and the first two days had ok battery, but after the third or fourth day the battery life has been amazing. Right now, I'm sitting at 4 hr 30 min SOT and 2hr 15 min of screen off usage (which was exclusively talking on the phone and using RUclips Music wirelessly with my airpods pro and car, both of which seem to still be battery hogs) and 66% down from 95%. I'm glad I skipped the 12 pro, and still glad I have had both Android and iPhone experience (moto X pure edition, pixel 3, galaxy S5, one M7) but damn this 13 pro max is freaking sweet.
Imagine, Apple, the 2 trillion dollar company is reaching MKBHD and tell him that they'll fix the camera issue. Proud of you man, I remember when his videos had couple hundred views.
@@Tiles76663 he said they reach to him, he would probably state it if they make it public to everyone. He might have friends from there who can tell what's going on.
Tried the switch from 120 to 60hz and literally opening multitasking feels choppy. I don't feel the need to turn down the refresh rate to 60 on my s20 fe. Battery life is excellent as is
120 Hz refresh rate is definitely noticeable if you're coming from 60 Hz. I recently bought a 165 Hz PC monitor. Previously I used a 75 Hz monitor for the past 12 years. And I can tell immediately by just moving some window around. The movement is much smoother. Even the mouse cursor looks smoother on the 165 Hz monitor
It's when you get used to it and then try and use a 60hz display again. That's when you appreciate it most. Happened to me on my computer display. It's mindblowing. Almost made me feel sick.
I go from my 144Hz monitor at home to a 60Hz at work daily, it’s not that bad, it’s only painfully noticeable when gaming IMO, don’t really give AF if my monitor is 120Hz or not when scrolling and doing boring shit like typing emails 😆
@@Giveitaresssstt Same. But when gaming and scrolling on a small phone screen, higher refresh is way more important than reading or typing on a work computer.
@@rpospeedwagon Yeah agreed it makes a difference, I’ve used 120Hz on my android for almost a year now and 60Hz on my 11 Pro doesn’t bother me still, IOS is so fast and buttery smooth it makes up for the 60Hz IMO
I’ve been using this phone for a good month. And switching from iPhone 7 to an 13 Pro, I see a lot of improvements in terms of battery, speed, and display. I think I immediately noticed the 120 hertz from like just scrolling RUclips and it feels and looks so much faster than my iPhone 7. The cameras while they are good, they don’t do as well as I thought it would in low light situation. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, and I’ll probably need to look at tutorial for it. But overall, the screen is brighter, audio is louder, display is so much clear. I love watching 4K videos on it, and even with using this phone for like an entire day on and off, I can get up to 100 to 50% in one day. That’s pretty good for an iPhone which tend to not always have the best battery when I’m watching video. But it’s still pretty good. Overall, a huge upgrade than my iPhone 7, if you have an older phone than mine, you’ll definitely notice the changes. Great phone, amazing cameras(can’t wait for ProRes to come), and just a good experience with the iPhone 13 Pro.
5:38 Agreed. I was an android user, when I switch to an iPhone the scrolling gets better (this is an iPhone 11 - no proMotion) and after watching and learning the proMotion feature, It's going to be a way better phone experience. Thanks MKBHD 😊

That’s how I felt with high refresh rate TV’s back in 2010. It was weird at first because I initially preferred 24fps content, but now I actually way prefer high FPS films and TV shows for the added clarity and detail.
I really appreciate your content and work. Great flow, no BS, relevant talking-points to the average user. If I'm in the market to buy any tech items, you're the first place I go to see a thorough review.
The 120hz display makes the user experience much more nicer imo. I went into settings to set it back to 60hz today, about a week after using 120, and damn, I switched back to 120 so fast lmao
Wait not to be that "guy" but you said "went into settings to set it back to 60hz TODAY, about a week later, and damn, I switched back to 120 so fast" So you changed it to 60hz today and changed it to 120hz next week?😅🤔

I upgraded from the iPhone 12, and didn’t expect a huge difference, but wow this phone is superior in every way. The screen and the cameras are the biggest differences obviously and I feel like I have an expensive phone. Very top notch. Couldn’t be happier. I am worried about the storage though but I might finally have to get a hard drive to store photos

A memorable moment for me, is when I was trying to get low light pictures on my iPhone XS and it was terrible. I was in NYC with my friend, trying to take a photo of the same low-lit alley and jeez it made me reconsider Apple. I’m excited for this new camera!

I switched from the 8 to the 13 pro max in April of 2022. The reason for this comment? I was doing some Chemistry exercises in a not bright but not dark room. My gymbro messaged me something about our workout and, opening iMessage, I noticed how gorgeous the screen is. Maybe upgrading every year has lost its purpose, but the technology is still evolving and a refresh every few years is a really nice experience.
Always crazy to hear how you'd also have to know a little bit about photography and cameras with smartphones now, and also crazy how easily MKB can make it digestible for someone who knows nothing about either.
That’s so true The only noticeable difference for me too is between 60hz and 120hz And even then it’s not as drastic as to say that 60hz is laggy It’s just that 120hz is faster lol
Almost 15 million subs! That’s insane. I remember bro under 1 million. Tech is one of the biggest markets on RUclips. Plus he has great videos and info. Good stuff 👍🏽

A little one I noticed is the lock and volume buttons were moved about 1cm down from the 12 Pro, so they're easier to reach. Small tweak, big usability upgrade. Also the speaker for actual phone calls being right on the top edge of the device (leading to smaller notch) seems to get fuzz from your pocket stuck in it easier.

yes, I noticed immediately when going to a 13 pro max from my old 11 pro. I went from an iPhone 7 to Pixel 3 to iPhone 11 Pro, so I was never exposed to higher refresh rates from Samsung, Google, etc...but I noticed as soon as I started using it. Right now, I'm sitting at 4 hr 30 min SOT and 2hr 15 min of screen off usage (which was exclusively talking on the phone and using RUclips Music wirelessly with my airpods pro and car, both of which seem to still be battery hogs) and 66% down from 95%. I just got done recording in 4k 60fps for 2.5 hours straight and still have 70% battery left 🤯 This phone is nuts.
What the hell were you recording 2.5hrs in 4k 60 David? That’s the real question 😹😹
@@tuurtaburco Our church had its ribbon cutting tonight so it was a huge celebration. It was basically like a concert crossed with praise and worship. I’d never seen anything like it and wanted to share it with my family and friends. Got plenty of footage to use when I edit. I chose 4k 60 just as a test to see how capable my first ever $1200 phone really was and honestly, I’m impressed. It handled it very well. It didn’t get warm, or lag, battery held up, solid wifi connection. I mean I can’t think of a more rigorous test than that.
I just got the 13 pro max yesterday. From switching from a XS Max. It so different. I’m in love with it.
☝️☝️Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

I’m loving my pro right now. That pro-motion was a huge deciding factor
Nice bro I have to wait a month for mine due to supply issues 🤣😭

What colour did you get.

just upgraded from 6s to base 13
@@smae98 I’m about to upgrade from a 6s too😭
I just upgraded from a 7 to a 13 Pro, looking forward to using it. Comes in today. As someone who PC games at 144. I cannot wait to see the 120hz screen.
I’m having the same upgrade ! Which storage option did u choose ?
I switched to iPhone for the first time ever with the iPhone 13 pro max.
I like it.
Also quick note, he’s right about the battery being good.
I can use mine close to 8 hours a day while at work doing RUclips or Spotify podcasts and browsing, and when I get home I still have like 40% left on the battery.
I was a proud iPhone 8 plus user for just under four years. I finally upgraded and got the 13 promax, and I could immediately tell a number of HUUUUGE differences. All I had to do was scroll for my first time and I am mediately knew that this device was going to exceed my expectations by a huge margin. The display is so crisp and responsive, scrolling is buttery smooth. The phone is so insanely fast, and the cameras absolutely blew me away. I’m so glad I made the decision to upgrade for the 13 pro max. Absolutely love this device
Hey i need your old.. It'll make my year❤️
Still a 60 HZ display🥱. My s21 has a 120 HZ display and I've had it for almost a year lol
@@iair-conditiontheoutsideai3076 I would really appreciate your old device bro❤️
@@musty10_ I recycled it man I don't even have it
@@iair-conditiontheoutsideai3076 Alright... thank you Very much for your generosity ❤️i really appreciate kind people like you
That’s made my mind up for me, thanks. I’m going to upgrade my 6S Plus to a 13 Pro, but I will still use the 6S! Great videos and hello from the French Alps. 👌
You can’t afford it.
@@CIA.Langley Are you in his pocket lol
How did you manage to keep 6S running for all these years ? Battery ?
SkiSavoie isnt the 6s battery bad by now? How were you using it with low battery? Or was the battery life not that bad?
@@JamesRodriguez10783 replaced it?
i just upgraded from 7+ to the 13 pro max. i definitely notice the smoothness compared to the old one. i absolutely love it so far!!
did u update the IOS and notice batery drain ??
@@sakshambhardwaj2848 which IOS? i just got this phone a few weeks ago so maybe the update was already on it? battery life has been great compared my 7!
@@mackenziewalsh IOS 15.5
If I use 120 hz then the battery drain is ridiculous.
@@sakshambhardwaj2848 just checked and i'm up to date. i haven't experienced any battery drain with the 120hz... maybe go into your settings and check the battery health? that's weird tho

😂 😂
Finally you can give us our sleep back. Had us up at night thinking “ when will he review the pro?”
The crazy part for me is that after all those years you’re still using C2C, 20syl and other French artists musics for your intro, I’m so proud of my country!
Just Updgrated from a 7+ to the 13 Pro Max and MANNNNN that battery life is just 🤯
The only thing I kinda miss is 3D Touch
I want to point out something about astrophotography. Even with the stock app you can achieve pretty good results but the key is that the phone must be held static, e.g. mounted on a tripod, after that the stock camera app will allow up to 30 seconds of exposure in night mode.
Didn't know that, but will try it soon. Thank you
@Kiel Enrique No one is shaking, competition will have other new features to stay ahead of iPhones.
@Kiel Enrique By Primary consumers you mean iPhone users? Most of the people that I know would prefer a Foldable if it was just more affordable and maybe a bit more durable. We all are using a basic smartphone because of limitations of other technologies right now and not by choice.
@@NanoMine what's the benefit of a foldable phone? other than more screen real estate? seems gimmicky at this point.
@Kiel Enrique Yeah :D
Thanks for your tutorial Marques. My wife and me (45 years married) have always had an Android. Our son,who gets a new IPhone every year( he doesn't spend money foolishly) says the phones is their family's only guilty pleasure. We are gonna trade our Androids in tomorrow for the IPhone 13 ProMax. Your explanation made everything clear. You explained everything so well and we thank you. A big thumbs up.
Not gonna lie, Android does make some nice phones, but I don’t see myself ever switching. The operating system on iPhones is just too good. You’ll like it.
Did u get 13 pro max? What’s your impressions?
Thanks for 45 years of marriage information, that is a very useful thing to know.
I just wanted to say, I truly enjoy watching your videos! The quality is top notch, great staging, awesome editing (props to your editor as well), excellent content layout. Just A1 overall. Not mentioning the quality of your review or the info you provide because that’s always 200%!!! Thanks.
