its not that fast, its just very clean. i mean it is fast for someone thats maybe only 4 or 5 years in. With muscle stress exercises 3 or 4 days a week (with good technique), you can get there fairly fast. its the CLEANILINESS that makes it sound that way. the cleaner the roll the faster it sounds/looks, imo.
Very Impressive, man. Really inspiring to watch things being done well. Cool to see the technical ability of Kevin Parkers drumming too. Amazing to think he's so proficient on each instrument.
good ear. in this section, Kevin's fills go from like 32nd note fills, then 16th, then 8th note fills, then that smooth 1/4 note drum fill with the rack tom and snare, and then no fill so the song can breathe. it's incredible. maybe the drummer can explain it better, but the reason it sounds so good is because of the dynamic reduction of the percussive notes over time. it creates space for the next section, the bridge, which is mind blowing.
You'll know soon part is always fun break into the synth lines and vox harm pads. Nice show on that little trebley in mix but it's cymbals thru a damn phone lol. Nice show ole chap
Holy Jesus that was amazing man, best one yet. I'm curious though, on the album recording I hear Kevin at about 4:27/28 start hitting the high hat 3 times each time he does, instead of 5. Am I hearing it wrong or would you care to explain?
Tyler West I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what he's playing. It is quite possible I am wrong but that's what I hear. A lot of effects spilling all over the track which can muffle specifics on the drums, and so I just go with something even though I'm not definite that is what's being played.
Roddy Bailey ah okay thanks, wasn't meaning to be critical just curious. I thought your cover was better and more accurate than sumjor's. Killer performance
Edit: first of all, amazing cover. Is it me or beat 1 switches place for a moment in the song? Or feels like it at least. This is too dumb, but I don't know how else to put it. You know that "Dun-Dun" that goes on the "you'll KNOW-SOON" part. Well, taking that "Dun-Dun" as reference, I hear it as if it was placed on beats 4 and 1, but then there's a part that I feel it on beats 1 and 2. And then back to 4 and 1. Probably just me hearing it wrong, because it would need to add a bit when it starts, then miss one and add one again. But I can't unhear it.
Anybody who listens to Tame knows that the drums is really what holds it together. This is well done.

TheMAU5SoundsLikThis Actually the drum was recorded separately in this track.
what do you mean?
Kevin Parker recorded the drums in 2 pieces, hard to explain but I hope you get it.
Ah yea i know what you mean, thats cool
Has nothing really to do with what I was saying, but cool for the info.
3:09 is my favourite part where it calms slightly before the next huge fill. It just feels right.
