- Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control Drum Cover performed by Roddy Bailey.
Original Words and Music by Tame Impala. Track 11 from the album 'Lonerism'.
I have tried to play note for note what the drums are doing. As you can see I am reading my own transcription from my ipad. It isn't perfectly played but I played as close as I could until I got a decent enough take! This video should give anyone interested a good understanding of what Kevin Parker plays on the recording, both audibly and visually.

wait you're a tame Impala and zelda fan?
4:53 HE EVEN HIT THE STICKS AND TOGETHER HOW IS THIS SO PERFECT
I swear this is the funnest song to play on drums
This songs always blown my mind on drums and is very Dungen-ish. You did great man
Alec Morgan thanks very much!
The main drum fill is derived from Dungen - Fredag at 0:47 as are a bunch of Innerspeaker/Lonerism rhythm sections
Well, Dungen is quite a huge influence for Tame Impala.
he wouldn't as creative as he is
This is one of the most satisfying videos on youtube, glad it has no dislikes. 10/10
These drums are so complex, good job
Recently purchased a practice pad and some sticks and I'm trying to learn how to play, all because of these videos. I've wanted to learn for a while and seeing you have so much fun playing was my catalyst.
DJ Glynn that's awesome man yeah practise pads are the way forward I use them all the time. It's amazing to hear this videos are inspiring people to want to play. I'll have more to come after this Tame Impala series.
Probably the most challenging tune yet, eh? Very well executed. You should do the Waves Remix next. You can do it no problem. And it even doubles up as the Live version for Solitude is Bliss.
Melomania thank you! Yeah it was challenging, especially as it is much longer than the other tunes. I don't know the waves remix but I will check it out!
Best thing about Kevin's music for me, is the drums, so seeing you do all his songs is really cool imo
Seriously incredible job, one of my favorite tunes of all time. Thank you for putting this up for us to all enjoy. Cheers, partner!
Estevan Segura thanks very much! Glad you enjoy it.
The Best track by far of TI
Alejandro Mendez Sanchez another kevin parker masterpiece
. playing all the instruments in this recording!
Why kevin is covering his own song?
This video convinced me to flatten my kit. Amazing job.
bought myself a drum set today, and purchased the transcription from you first thing after getting the kit set up! Gonna play my favourite song from my favourite album as my first drum song! Thanks Roddy!
Man you kill it brother! Keep on! Even got that tom rim hit near the last break 👌🏼
I saw another Tame Impala drum cover and immediately came to your channel to check this tune, and you did such an incredible job

“A WONDERFUL SONG WITH AN EXISTENTIAL MESSAGE TO ALL MANKIND BY: KEVIN PARKER!”
This emotional song is about the intense failures of life we must learn to overcome. Kevin Parker wrote this song as a result of the failed relationship between himself and Melody Prochet of (Melody’s Echo Chamber). They were in a relationship back in 2012, when they successfully collaborated to produce the self entitled album - Melody’s Echo Chamber, which was Melody’s debut album, and was entirely produced by Kevin Parker.
I believe that throughout this time-period (2012)--the year that “Melody’s Echo Chamber” and “Lonerism,” albums were produced, something must have happened between them, whether before or after producing the albums, when they suddenly broke up--which is why Kevin Parker created this song describing the events surrounding their failed relationship.
I believe Kevin Parker is explaining in this song that;
LIFE GOES ON….
……and that, we must live and learn from our mistakes, whether it is a personal relationship failure, or any other form of human failure. For those that understand the message that Kevin is conveying to us, he is simply saying that there are:
LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES……….
……that may be out of our control, and therefore, we must learn to live with those consequences associated to those failures, with the full understanding that we should ALSO make whatever necessary changes and improvements in our lives, and in our behavior, in order to avoid the same circumstance from happening again…..
……….IF AT ALL POSSBLE!
I sometimes wonder if Kevin has reached out to Melody after she almost lost her life in a car accident this past summer. As a result of the accident, Melody is still in the hospital enduring several operations after a broken spine, among many other serious injuries.

it was so dope seeing this one live at last hahah
Love this song and excellent cover. The repetition of Kev’s drumming is very krautrock-like
amazing that you able to do Transcriptions like this, I just can't do transcriptions, I admire this ability!
Thanks man! I'm sure you can, it is just frustrating and difficult to hear what exactly is being played so I just blag it. Start out easy and progress from there dude!
that breakdown is so sick!!!!!!!!!!
Hey man i absolutely loved this your was awesome and you nailed it perfectly. I wanted to ask what kind of drum kit do you use? I was just wondering because watching videos like these is making me really consider getting a kit soon.

Thank you Roddy Bailey
Solid as always Roddy, I wish I could read music better 😪 then I could get it right next time...I struggle with the hihat count everytime, and get lost in the tune...
Awesome, dude!
amazing!
You’re just on point
great man ! sundown syndrome please .
nice dynamics
Hey roddy, are you gonna do Currents? I'm asking cause the drums there are more smapler-like, and I was wondering that. Great as always, really apreciate your work with the transcriptions! Thanks a lot man.
Thanks very much! Yeah I am doing Currents, it will be a bit delayed though, I've been a bit lazy recently. For currents though there are a lot I think I won't be playing like the claps and click samples. I've transcribed them but I'll just be performing the drums.
Superb.
the part at 4:20 is fantastic
hypnotic.
good stuff mate!
This shit is still amazing
Just a curious question man, as someone who started drumming 6 months ago. How long does it take you to learn each of these songs?
Edit: And by the way man, amazing performance. I love Kevin's drumming style, and you perfected it man.
Dont want to answer for him, but Id guess most songs take him a day or two to learn. Most are fairly simple. This song, note for note, probably took the longest of them all. Because every fill is different in the bridge and the arrangement is all over the place.
Compared to mind mischief which is just the same measures over an over.
lewiscity13 For this tune I got it done after about 4 days, each day spending 3 hours or so. For me though the hardest bit is transcribing and playing it in sync with the original drums on the track. The mechanics for me isn't too challenging but it is a difficult one to start off with if you've only been playing for a short while.
Thanks for replying man! Hats off to you, you're a great drummer. Just wondering what inspired you to do every Tame song? Are you a fan?
no problem man! HAHA yeah big time. Since their first album I have been obsessed. I wanted to give myself something challenging to do whilst I was out at sea. (All these covers were filmed on a ship you see!) You know when there is drumming that you really love and would love to know how to play but there is nothing online? I wanted to be that guy that could do it and share it with fellow fans of Tame Impala. For me I learn a lot by reading music so that's why I transcribed all the drum parts note for note (as close to anyway). I'll be doing 'Currents' but it will be slightly delayed. Good luck to you dude!
Man that's fucking amazing. You're honestly where I come for drumming tutes/transcripts. You definitely that guy where people come for drum covers. Good to see a fellow dude who loves Tame as much as me haha
Thanks man, appreciate it!
I think i'm love for the drum...
good shit
suh dude thanks!
Also you rock bro! 🍻
top skillz
man , thanks for this :)
Good....hey,The best are You!!

Gang :)) what size bass drum is being used?
Thaaaaaaank i love u
❤
Good Shit!!
everyone knows that this song starts at 2:50
A bateria dessa música é muito foda, a música toda é foda
What drum heads are you using?
Malcolm Stewart Evans G2 coated on snare, Remo clear pinstripes on toms. Not sure about bass drum tbh. I always list my gear in the description box for future reference!
Woah, indeed you do. Apologies for not looking closer.
No problem at all!
Are you sight reading in all your videos?
Hey how do you record this
seco !
Boss
2 people are upset bc they can’t do the same
Omg
Wish you'd hit the symbols a tiny bit harder :(
What makes it sound like he’s smashing the cymbals on the record is really just his mic setup and lots of compression, and of course his specific cymbals
@@bipbong2906 yeah, softer hits on the cymbals often hold up better under OH compression, especially if your OH mics need a good balance of toms/cymbals
@@bipbong2906 yoo
@@bebussound7991 my man
@@bebussound7991 I never thought this would happen lmao
Me recuerda a Ringo Star de The Beatles
Hey Roddy! I love your stuff. Wondering if you could tell me your toms/kick tuning on these tunes?
